I have a friend who is trying to get pg. She stopped the pill a 3-4 cycles ago and since then has been concerned when she does not start on time. The first time she tested and it was negative, and this time she is waiting to test on Friday (although by then it will be about 2 weeks late). She did have one cycle that started on time, the first one I think after no month of pills.

What are reasons she could be late but not pg? She thinks something is wrong if she is not pg, I have a feeling it might just be her body getting itself to work again.

She was on the pill for 10 years and before that she was never late. Only her cycle would be off was when she traveled and then it was always a couple days early.

I was on the pill for 11 years. My cycle was completely normal, but that's because of the pill. That's what it does! When I went off, my cycles were not normal at all. I had my period on an average of once every 2 months, but some cycles were even longer than that. When we started trying to conceive, I ended up taking meds once to get my period. Then, when I conceived, it was on day 39 of my cycle.

Now, my cycle was never normal before I went on the pill either, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. But after 11 years, I kind of hoped that my body would have figured it all out - no such luck.

I'm guessing that your friend's body is trying to work everything out after being on the pill for so long, but I'm no doctor. Just let her know that she's not alone and everything has worked out for me.

Good luck to her!

OK I am going to send that her way. I just talked to her on the phone and she is going back and forth whether to test or not. Her last cycle was about 38 days and this time around she is at about day 34... I told her to start writing this all down in case she needs to go see someone she is not guessing at the dates. It should also give her an idea of what is going on.

No matter the length of a cycle people typically ovulate 14 days prior to the start of AF so she should consider that when she is BDing. If her usual cycle is 38 days then she would ovulate around CD24 right when she thinks she should be getting ready for AF if she was still on BCP. She should then start BDing around CD19 or so and go every day or every other day until CD 30 just to be safe.

Good luck to her! :)

No!! lol that would make my MIL very happy but no... We are no where near being ready for #2. This is pretty cool cause this is the friend I am going to see after Christmas so I can take a lot of Emma's nuetral clothes/toys that she is not using anymore.
