View Full Version : How far ahead do you send the invitations?

We brought the invitations to Joe's party to school last week. The party is Nov. 12, so about 5 weeks ahead. I know that's probably on the early end of the range. Yesterday, Joe got an invitation to a party for one of his friends for a week from Saturday, so less than 2 weeks ahead. That seems really short to me.
So how early do you send/give out the invitations to a child's party?

Around 3 weeks early, but I usually mention the date to people when I see them ahead of that time.

About 3 weeks ahead, sometimes 4 if it's a busy time of year.

We usually do evites 3-4 weeks ahead, then send actual invites a week or two before. That way those of our friends and family who need advance notice have it and then get reminded a little before hand.

2-3 weeks. I shoot for 3, and hope to get them out by 2. :)

I do 3-4 weeks since Caroline's birthday is at the beginning of the holiday season, so we figure people are busy with other parties and family things and such.

I try do 3-4 weeks...but usually it ends up closer to 3. Jackson's party is October 22, I sent out the invitations on October 4...so that wasn't quite 3 weeks. I have gotten invites to other parties 2-3 weeks ahead of time.

I try for 3 weeks. I just got them out for N&E's party on 11/5, so I guess I am a little ahead of my game this year. Go me. I like more notice anytime between June-December, because we seem to be busy every weekend. In the dead of winter, though, not so much

I aim for at least 3 weeks ahead. As a general rule, I'm always surprised when I get an invitation for something on any shorter notice than 3 weeks. BUT I'm sure I'll be changing my mind on that when we enter the kids birthday party circuit.

See, I would think people would send out the invites farther out rather than closer for school friends. With family and our friends, generally we mention the date to people before we send the invitations anyway. But with their school friends, the first notice of the party is the invitation. Given how quickly we get booked up - we're usually pretty full for a month out - it's hard for us to fit in a party on two weeks notice, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either.

For me, I'm doing good if I manage it 2-3 weeks prior.

I aim for 3 weeks ahead. But that's unusual for around here. Most of Emily's school friends give invitations 1-2 weeks ahead. We've gotten them a couple of days out and I even got one the day before :dunno: A lot of people don't take party planning as seriously as I do

For us..the sooner you send them out the more people tend to forget. I usually aim for 2 weeks but around here one is plenty. Any sooner and people are constantly telling me that "NOW I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO COME" I have taken to saying "Stick to your Fridge so you don't forget"
