A little background..

This is a postion with my current parent company just a different sub-company if you know what I mean. I would really love to have this position because its 10 miles closer to my house and I would be able to keep all my current benefits etc.

Here is the job posting:

PERSONAL FINANCIAL REPRESENTATIVE – FEDERAL WAY

EvergreenBank is seeking a Personal Financial Representative to join our team of customer-focused sales professionals. Responsibilities include providing superior customer service, completing paying and receiving transactions, opening/servicing new and existing accounts, and cross-selling all bank services.

We seek a team player with a needs-based sales orientation who knows how to focus on the customer. He/she must have or be willing to learn about all bank products and services. PC/data entry experience, 10-key skills, superior communication skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize are essential to success. Recent banking experience strongly preferred.

Here is the start of my cover letter/email to the HR person who is listed as the contact:

Hi Brian,

I saw the internal posting for this position and am interested in learning more about this opportunity. While I do not have recent banking experience, I am a very quick learner and possess all of the other skills you are looking for.

Should I include anything else or just attach my resume and leave it at that?

TIA!

I'd take the 'Hi' part out unless you know him really well. The rest sounds fine and then just attach your resume.

Nope, wouldnt say I know him really well. Just in passing. ;) Thanks for the input, Nocona!

I'd say you should comment on some of the specific things they have in the posting rather than just saying "I have the other skills you are looking for." Say something like "I have seven years of customer service experience" and so on. It's all in your resume, but you want to give a strong summary of your experience in the cover letter. With your lack of banking experience, say somethong about your skills/experience can translate to the banking industry.

Good luck!

Dennis
