How on earth do you cosleep with an infant without sidecarring a crib? I usually cuddle and nurse Katie and then put her in her Moses basket at the foot of our bed...but last night she needed some extra Mommy time, so I brought her into our bed for the entire night.
I had such a hard time sleeping with her and was paranoid the pillows would cover her face...plus she insisted on sleeping with her arms spread out up over her head (very cute--but she took up a TON of room sleeping that way! )
She hasn't slept in our bed all night in a long time...I guess I forgot how noisy she is and how much room she takes up. How do/did you make it work?

we never made it work  we just dealt w/ it b/c it was the only way to get a decent stretch of sleep. he was always so noisy & fidgety that honestly, i was glad when he accepted the crib! plus i was always freezing b/c i was paraoid of putting the covers near him.

I was paranoid with Jacob, and rarely did it (I had an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper and it was the best thing for me! ) but I do it all the time with the girls. I sleep on the couch, so I think that makes it easier. I just hook one on and crash. I usually keep an arm under them so that I dont' roll or anything, but on the couch, there isn't a whole lot of rolling room anyway...

Lily sleeps in between us, with her arms straight up in the air. Usually, when we are ready to go to sleep, Steve and I turn over with both of our backs to her, and she cuddles up to one of our backs. :dunno:
I guess I was just always so much more comfortable having her close to me that the loss of space didn't bother me. She is a really quiet sleeper, and she never really got close to the pillows or anything... But, when she was really little, we didn't use but one pillow each, and it was angled so that it was nowhere near her.

Katie is a VERY noisy sleeper--raspy breathing, snorting, sneezing, grunting...you name it, she does it!

When we co-slept with Dylan one of us was usually holding him or cuddling close to him. The times we would put him in his bassinette one of would wake up holding a pillow in the middle of the night.

I usualy hold Isaiah close to me and hold the blankets down under my arm so they can't get near his face. He sleep most the night in his crib now though but I still bring him in our bed in the morning or if he is having trouble sleeping.

When Brigit was an infant she slept between us. We just bundled up and slept without any blankets for the first couple of months. Once we felt more confident about her ability to move around, we'd pull the blankets up to her waist and tuck them around her.
Nowadays, Brigit still sleeps between us - so Ciaran sleeps next to me (between me and the edge of the bed.) I keep the blankets down around his feet, and I position him so his head is level with my breasts, so he's not too close to the pillow.
I never thought much about the noise .... Ciaran can be a loud sleeper sometimes - but I like co-sleeping so much that I figure it's worth putting up with a little less sleep!

This is pretty much what I do, though now some times I will put him between DH and I.

I used to lay on my side on the edge of the bed and snuggle Ian into me. Sort of next to my breasts so he could eat easily. I never worried I would smother him because I am such a light sleeper. It wasn't super comfortable, but it was nice to snuggle for those first few months. :)

For the morning naps that I have brought Zack into bed wiht me, I curl him up in the crook of my right arm with his head on the same pillow as me and I lay on my back or on my right side facing him (sometimes he sleeps on his left side) and I bring the covers up over both of us, but not too near his head. Then we both cash out for a few hours.
He is a very noisy sleeper too..lots of grunting and whatnot, but it work/eds for those morning naps when I was just home from the hospital having the gallbladder surgery and couldn't move much out of bed.
I couldn't imagine doing it all night long, but for a few hours in the morning it works.

I slept with my son from the time he was 1 until he was 4 years old. He was pretty good at sleeping in his crib the first year of his life but at times would sleep in bed with me and just fall asleep on top of me. I never rolled over. my instincts just woke me up, or whatever you call it. :) I don't sleep that hard anyway and haven't in over 8 years, especially since becoming a mom. I don't think many moms do sleep very hard to where they don't hear the baby crying at the first cry or forget that they are in bed with them. I think co-sleeping is wonderful and also do it with my daughter now.

Jackson just sleeps between me and Josh. When Josh isn't home, I put a pillow where Josh would be. Jackson doesn't use any covers and no pillows. We usually fall asleep snuggling (spooning position) and then wake up in totally different positions!
