I have a Baby Bjorn and I love it...but I'm interested in wearing a sling with Katie (I have one that is cloth with the metal rings) but just can't get the hang of putting it on or of putting Katie in it. I'm wondering if she's too lanky for it--she only two months old, so she can't sit up yet, but she likes to stretch her legs out (hates being scrunched.)

I bought a sipmly atached sling from Jennie because I thought I could get more done when Isaiah wanted to BF all the time, but he hated it, he just screamed. Luckly this sling could be used in other positions and I got some use out of it. Later though I bought a Theodore Bean carrier (also from Jennie) and he really likes that and at 8 months I still use it some times. I saving the sling though, maybe the next baby will like it more.

Sarah, did you get it figured out? If not, you can PM SugarBeth on UB, and she can help you. She's good at explaning how to use slings. Also, you can always go to a La Leche League meeting and ask there. Chances are, you'll have 10 people eager to show you how to use it!

Hi Anne,
No, I still haven't figured it out--and I now have two slings (Jolie made me one, too.) I've looked at several websites and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correctly...Katie just gets annoyed if her legs aren't sticking straight out. She doesn't like them to be bent. :dunno:

Picky, picky! She sounds a lot like another Katie I know... You might just have to wait on slings until she gets a little stronger and can sit up a little better. It won't be long, I'm sure!

Yeah, I'm starting to think it must be something with the name Katie!

Both mine just dont seem to be or even look comfy in the sling. I often wonder if I am doing it correctly or if I just have finicky children  Whatever the case, I know that it came in handy when Aidan was older and I had to carry him on the hip!!!

Yeah, I'm counting on being able to use it to hip carry Katie when she's older.

We LOVE our slings (when Morgan was a baby and we still use them now!!!)
What kind of sling do you have? how much padding does it have?

I don't know what kind of sling they are (I have two of them and they're exactly the same)...maybe Anne knows--one of them is from her. Neither has any padding--just lots of cloth and a ring near the shoulder.

Hmmm...maybe you should try a sling with a little padding in it. :)

Would that have an impact on Katie not liking to have her legs bent? That's her main issue with the sling--she HATES having her legs bent.

I have a Simply Attached and we both love it! I think it depends on the individual baby AND how early you start. Don't give up on slinging! Sounds like you having something like an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder, which you can't really let her legs be free so young. With a Simply Attached sling, you can wear them like their in a Bjorn, with legs dangling. That's how dd2 likes to be so far. Let me see if I can find a photo...oh yeah...if you go to the bottom of the My Lane page in my siggie, you'll see how I'm wearing her. Is that what you would think will work?

Yes, I think she'd like that position--she likes that position in the Bjorn.

Oh good! When she's older, you can also have her face forward with her legs free. With your current sling, once she's a big older and holding herself up, you can wear her on your hip with free legs. Or on your front, facing you, with butt in the pouch part and legs down. Good for going to sleep, but not if she's interested in looking around.
Anyhow, this sling is basically a looooooong piece of continuous material. You just have to learn how to tie it. You could make it yourself, or I can help you buy one.

I just got a MOBY wrap for Anna that from what I understand is similar to the Simply Attatched sling. MOBY is a cotton jersey material, and SA is fleece. It is sooooo much more comfy than the bjorn, and at 25 lbs, I barely even feel Anna's weight. It just feels like I'm wearing her inside a t-shirt.

I already have plans to take the Moby to the hospital when #2 is born, and #2 is just a twinkle in his daddy's eye right now.
Just like there are stroller addicts, I am a carrier addict.

Temptress! Oh...I suppose it's just a matter of time. I'll claim it's just TOO hot this summer and need the Moby (my current one is a light fleece)...
