Benjamin Haim (=life)

Julie and Eliyahu named their son after BIL's foster father who passed away 1 year ago.

I didn't expect them to use Yumi's name but... whatever. I mean, it doesn't bother me. It IS a beautiful name. But I am pretty certain it bothers Yehuda.

i'm somewhat suprised she used yumi's name too, is that common in israel? it certainly is not here!

No, it isn't common at all.
Or let's say - if the baby is named after a grandparent, then chances are more than 1 cousin is named after the same grandparent. Other than that - people usually avoid using names used by other close family members (nephews and nieces at least).

We chose Benjamin as Yumi's name because we liked it - they because they named their son after someone.
But I am certain they will be using a different nickname. Beni (which I HATE) or Benjy maybe.

Wow I'm surprised they used the same name too. I'd been rather pissed if my sister used one of my kids names.

But anyway, congrats on the naming. I'm assuming the Bris is today?

I think I'd be a little annoyed that they used the same name, but hopefully it won't be a big deal as long as they don't call him Yumi!

Congrats on the naming, though. :)

I'd be a little annoyed too, but I guess it's an odd sort of compliment, right? ;) As long as the nickname is different, there shouldn't be problems.

Congrats on the naming. His middle name is very nice, too.
