What was your DH's thoughts about CD? Did he warm to it right away, resist, or somewhere in the middle?

He didn't care as long as he didn't have to do the laundry. He liked the idea of saving money... and when I showed him the kind I wanted to use (Fuzzi Bunz), he was okay with it.

My dh wasn't too thrilled. He figured it would be something I would spend a bunch of money on and then give up right away. The one good thing that really helped was that a friend of mine here uses cloth. Her husband works with DH so he told him all about it. He really helped dh to understand that cd'ing is really not bad at all and fairly easy. Plus it saves money. So, that helped. DH was definitely skeptical as we started, but quickly saw how great they were. With our son (who we used sposies on) he leaked out of every diaper and poops were always going straight up the back. But, Heather rarely leaked and she has never had a poop leak (at least that I can remember). Now, he thinks it's great and likes that he never has to run to the store to get more sposies. Heather is now 13 months old and still in cloth.

DH liked the idea of saving money and is really good about using the diapers although I have a hard time getting him to use anything but pocket diapers - I am currently using fitted diapers with covers and those seem to baffle him - he forgets the cover often. Thankfully she's starting to fit into her small FB.

At first Josh resisted, but now he loves 'em! He doesn't ever want one of our baby's bums in disposable diapers again!

Good... sounds like they all adapted pretty well to cloth. Thanks for your input!

Rob was totally on board with the diaper service with Connor. TG, since cloth was the only thing that helped his YI. We moved away from the service with Logan when he turned about 5 months old, and used disposables for awhile, but I just couldn't handle the $$ and the trash. Now we are a fuzzi bunz family and DH is TOTALLY on board with it! Even my parents are happy to shake out the poopies!

We decided to make the switch to CDs b/c of the cost of 'sposies. When I aproached DH about it, he was fine with it. He will even fold prefolds and pin them! He hates to do so, but if that's all that's clean, he'll do it w/o complaining. :awink:

DH and I both never considered NOT CDing. I am lucky, I guess, b/c I work with lots of moms who have to work on their DHs. Most dads of families I sell dipes to turn the corner when I show them how much money they can save!

I just sold some FBs to a family who will probably do it part time. Mom will put him in cloth and dad will pull out the pampers. A good compromise for them and they'll still see the savings.

Can I butt in and ask what the benefits of CDing are? How much money does it save? I can't quite picture washing a bunch of poopy diapers, either, so can you help me understand that? We are expecting our first, and are planning to use disposable diapers, but if I can see how the cloth ones would be better, I'm convincable :)

Lena, I'm in a hurry and will reply more later on the benefits, but there's a link here about how much money you can save PER CHILD:
