Has anyone ever had their childs party anywhere other than at home? I'm searching for some idea's on places to host parties, I was thinking about a bowling alley but they charge $15 per kid http://66.179.206.112/forums/images/smilies/eek3.gif don't really know what the going rate is for stuff though, we're pretty limited to indoor places since her bday is in November, couple years ago there was a blizzard on her bday http://66.179.206.112/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes3.gif

Any idea's? http://66.179.206.112/forums/images/smilies/help2.gif

My Godson had a skate party last year for his birthday. That might be a bit too old for Paige though. :dunno: What about a build-a-bear party? Or just a party at Chuck E Cheese or something like that? I know that there is a pizza place here that has games and hosts parties. You might check if your local kids museum (if you have one) does kids parties too. :)

They have rentals at my YMCA. You can either choose the jungle gym room or the pool for an hour and then you get a room for an hour to have your cake, presents, etc. It's $60/15 kids. We do tons of pool parties!

Mandi's post reminded me, our children's museum does parties too. I've been to two there so far, the kids have lots of fun.

We never have our parties at home.

Pool parties this year. Chuck E Cheese, Safari Sams, Bullwinkles, One of those places with those blow up things you jump in, an amusement park....

Thanks everyone!:) we don't have a Chuckie Cheese anywhere near here and if we did I'd be too scared to have it there  I remember having Cass's party at a local rec centre where we got to use the pool and then the party room, but non of the kids especially Paige know's how to swim.. I am right now checking the city site about museams and there are a few but the one I wanted to use say's that they have to be 5 yrs and up  that would be $15 each child but they get a full lunch .. there is a childrens museam and the cost is $50 you bring your own food( pizza place right across the street) but the last time we went it was kybe! I might go check it out, maybe they've upgraded :dunno: oh and my gf mentioned that she heard that a local grocery store hosts cooking bday parties..I'm waiting for the store to open so I can call and see, that would be interesting eventhough Paige wouldn't eat anything  oh and we just had a build a bear open up, I should look into that but who pay's for the bear? me or the parents?? we would have 5 kids..

Please, keep the idea's coming :)

My neighbor had a party for her daughter at an indoor gymnastics place. The kids got to play on this gymongous climbing thing and then pizza's were brought in. You had to supply the cake. Here's the link! http://kehlersgym.com/html/kids_fun_factory_photo.html

and another one in our area...

I prefer not to have them at my house

We've done a train place and next year we're doing the Museum of Transportation (more trains).

It's not too bad considering they actually get a teddy bear out of it. But I think you have to provide your own bday cake and such so it could add up.

We had Julian's birthday party at Little Gym this year (http://www.thelittlegym.com/ (http://www.thelittlegym.com/)). It cost $195, and that covered up to 15 children. All we did was show up and bring cake. Seriously, they brought everything in from the car (presents, etc. and cake), set it all up, had a place set up for opening presents, wrote down who gave what, and cleaned it all up at the end. They got to essentially have a class, playing on the equipment and what have you (some structured activities, some free play time). They got to use this cool thing called the air track - the kids got to sit on it while it was being inflated, then they got to jump on it, then they got to sit on it and ride down while it was deflating. Julian LOVED it. It was money well spent, and we may have all his parties there until he outgrows it. :aok:

That's cool Lisa!

Well, I called the grocery store that has a room above the store and what it involved was you get the room free but all food brought in must be purchased from them ( no biggie since everything I buy is from them anyway) but that's it, you have to book the entertainment which she did give me the name of some lady that does little kid cooking demo's etc sounds cute but so not for Paige who doesn't eat..she also suggested a clown but I don't know..we don't care for clowns here  soooooo I called the local childrens museam, for $25( it said $50 on the website  ) we get a room to eat for an hour and then the other hour they can explore the museam..it's not very bit so it won't take that long  I think they have a puppet area, that will amuse them etc..there is a pizza place and McD's across the street so we'll grab the food from there etc..whew this party planning takes alot out of ya :dead:

Lisa I am under the same stress and it is only going to get worse as they get older and have more friends. I so far have had all her parties at the house. There isn't a whole lot in our area..but of course this year with her in school I am not sure what to do. I wish I could be sure there would be snow. I would have sled ridding for an hour and then pizza and cake in my home. At least that would get them out of my house  The year she was born though it was 72 the day she was born so I know what your going through with weather.

I actually thought about just having a normal party (maybe renting a bounce house or something) and having it at my church. I haven't totally decided yet but then at least you don't have to worry about your home being trashed. Not sure yet though

We've always had away-from-home parties; DH is paranoid. We've done Gymboree and the bowling alley. This year we're skipping a party with friends to go to Disney! :woo:

Oh a party at disney would be awesome

Jayne, you actually reminded me about a farm around the corner, they do sled rides in the winter :duh: not sure if/when they are open or if the do bday parties but when we go there for the pumpkin patch festivities I'm going to ask them, I might do that NEXT year, it would be great to have that sorted out a year in advance like I do christmas shopping
