At what age did your children start going to daycare. My son has been with two different in home sitters since he was 6 weeks old. The sitter he is with now, when he first started going to her was wonderful. Just within the last month she found out she was pg and has been slackign i guess you could call it. She watches four children and she has a one year old. One of the other kids is my niece. My sister in law is not very happy with her either?

I was wondering at what age did you start your child in daycare? Kyle is 7 1/2 months old and i was hoping to wait til he was a year old before putting him in daycare but i may have no choice. FOr instance the babysitter has her first drs. appt on Monday, (I had to ask she never told any of us, I am also good friends with one of the other kids moms) When I asked her about it she said that she had an appointment on the ninth and i said oh well so, you can't watch the kids that day, and she says yes, they can still come my grandmother and my sister-in law will be here to watch them. WAIT A MINUTE.

First of all she did not ask me if i minded? Second, I dont' know these people at all, i have maybe seen them once or twice. They are not watching my DS? I am just not very happy with her anymore. I picked up DS the other day and he had done number 2 all over his clothes, she roles them up in a ball, didn't even rinse them out. So needless to say it wasn't pretty by the time i got there to pick him up?

Sorry this has turned into a vent! I just had to get it off my chest. Thanks.

But, i would still like to know at what age did your kids go to daycare? and what are your thoughts about it?

Thanks,
Ann

Thanks, guys. I just got off the phone with a daycare in town. But they don't take kids till they are 8 months old. But i am taking off Monday afternoon to pick up Kyle from the sitter, and i am going to probably go and check it out.

Thanks for your help. It is nice to know i am not crazy. Thanks for the support.

Joe and Frances were both about 4 months old when they started.

And ITA with everyone else - find a new daycare. Good luck!

Ian was 16 weeks when he started at a daycare facility. He loves it there. The teachers have never changed in over a year. If one is sick, they always have plenty to cover - they just rotate over from the preschool room or the director covers. It works out really well. I love having him somewhere he loves and I feel good about.

I would definitely get him out of there!!! Yikes!!!

Ellen started daycare at 14 weeks 3 days a week (4 days a week when she was about 9 months old, and 5 days a week at 15 months) and I'm completely happy with the decision. Ellen LOVES daycare! She has 6 kids and 2 teachers at all times (usually the same two, but always two)... they are wonderful!!!

My sitter told my sister in law that we needed to find a new sitter she can't watch them anymore?

But she has not told the other two mom's yet?

I am glad i started looking already.

My first son was 7 1/2 months old when he started daycare, and my new son will be 5 1/2 months old when he starts daycare. Your son will probably love all of the interaction.....mine sure does.

Thanks Mary.

I hope so. He will be 8 months when he starts. I am just nervous. He will be the youngest child there. The others in his class or closer to one year old. He starts on Monday.

My son was 8 months when he started daycare full-time. It was a great age to start. He was sitting up and starting to crawl. This made it nice because he could move around and wasn't as frustrated as he might have been if he had started at a younger age and couldn't changed activities if he wanted to. My son LOVES daycare and I do too!

Julian was just a little bit over six months old when he started daycare. He's done fine there, and the teachers all think he's a great kid. I'm glad we've found someplace that he's happy. :)

For me it was a bit of a different situation. None of the daycare centers here take pumped breastmilk except for one that is a full hour drive from my house (and than another half back to work) So I wouldn't put Nick into a daycare facility until he is atleast year old or weaned from the bottle. Also the quality of daycare centers that I visited was so poor I don't know if I ever want him in one. Lucky for us our sitter is a good friend and I adore her. I knwo she's looking for a job though and if she finds one we'll have to make other arangements. We'll figure that out then since we're working towards me becoming a SAHM!!

Although your situation sounds similiar to the issues I had with the regular daycare centers in my area do you may be better with your circumstances to go that route.

Riley was 11 months old before I put her in any kind of daycare. My SIL watched her til she was 11 months and then we found a nice lady from our church that watched her in her home and she only had one other little boy during the day so it was really nice. She watched her til this past April when I lost my job.

Jack was 22 months when he started daycare. He loves going now, but it was hard the first 2 weeks.

my daughter started daycare at 8 weeks old. she attended 3 daycares between that time up until she turned 9 months old. If I had any little tiny reason to dislike the daycare or had a question in my mind she was out of there. I took her out completely for a while and now she is attending a new daycare part-time while I work. She loves it there and I do too.

Alex started daycare at 16 weeks. I found a terrific in-home daycare and I absolutely love it. Alex and one other boy were the youngest, the other 3 kids were over one year. I felt it worked out great because the older kids taught him a lot. I never had any problems.

I feel very fortunate to have found the woman I did. It a safe, fun place that Alex loves and we can actually somewhat afford it.

Thanks Everyone. Kyle started daycare about three weeks ago and we have been home the majority of the week b/c he is sick. I brought him this morning, b/c i couldn't miss anymore work and he seemed to be feeling a little better, i am hoping he can last all day.

Thanks Again.
