a day spa package at a local salon for my friend Sonja.
They had a contest for overworked Mom's at a local radio station and I entered her.
She's been such an incredible friend through this deployment.
Here's the letter I sent......
Hi guys,
So let me tell you about an incredibly deserving overworked Mom.
My dear friend, Sonya, is an incredible Military wife and Mother.
She has 7 children.
Some hers, some her husbands and some theirs
together. But she loves and cares for them all the same.
She has taken on raising them while her husband was
deployed in Iraq last year and is now doing it again while he is in New Orleans with my husband providing relief for
the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and she will do the same when they are deployed to Afghanistan next year.
She has been a constant source of strength for me and my 4 children while our husbands are away.
From daily phone calls to check in on how I'm doing, to driving out from Gaston(almost 40 miles away) to take me and my 2 daughters out to lunch, to getting her older children to care for ALL of our kids so we can enjoy some time out alone.
She takes everything in stride and provides us other military wives with the courage and strength to continue on each and every day.
In addition to doing this, she is also a beloved school bus driver for the Gaston School district.
I cannot tell you what a blessing she is in my life and the lives of countless others.
I would love for her to enjoy a day of pampering at the Dosha spa and salon.

She had absolutely NO clue I was doing this.
I told our husbands last night on the phone after I entered her. So they both know and are calling tonight to see what happend.
So today I got an email saying she was a finalist and to give them her contact info. (Just before she came to pick me up and take me out to lunch with the girls.)
They called her live on the air at 6pm and read my letter to her.
Then they turned it around on me and are paying for me to go with her AND buying us lunch at a really nice local restaurant.
I was totally shocked, but thought I'd share some happy news. Something for us both to look forward to.
