:disbelief so, right now my 1yo is perfectly predictable when it comes to falling asleep at night, 9:15pm on the dot (yes, he's a night owl!) but afternoon naps are really killing me... some days he crashes w/o a problem, others he battles his tiredness until I'm exhausted. I don't like letting him CIO, but at this age he does do this fake, half-hearted crying that drives me nuts. What should I do?

(someone on this board has a thing on their avatar that says "please... just sleep", LOL that's how I feel!!!)

 9:15 is NOT a night owl, Kincad (16 months old) goes to bed at 11 and Janelle (3 next month) goes to bed at 11:30-12 every night.

Anyway, with Janelle I had to lay down in bed beside her and nurse her to sleep for naps...it took about 30-45 minutes each day, then she would sleep for 3 hours (which actually was her longest stretch of sleep day or night since she woke to nurse every 45 minutes all night long). She gave up naps at 22 months old (though, she still nurses before bed every single night, and if she is being horrible and I need to force her to nap (if she is sick) I nurse her to sleep.

Now Kincaid, I couldn't do this with cause well, I had Janelle running around the house...anyway, I nurse him in the rocking chair then lay him in bed, he cries and I go in there (immediatly!) give him back his pacifier, pat his back, and leave again...we do this about 5 times and he eventually goes to sleep...though recently he never cries, just goes out.
