The Gymbo thread is moving way too fast! Let's use this thread for questions and answers regarding Gymboree policies that we can use for reference.

Calling Gymbo experts (ahem, Colleen, Jenn, or anyone who can answer!)-- HELP!!!

TIA!

Okay, I'll start.

What's the policy on returning tights? I bought 2 sizes. If DD tries them on, I have to take them out of the package. Will they take the wrong size back?

What's the policy on returning shoes? I have to cut the tag out so DD can try them one. Will they take the shoes back with the tag detached?

TIA!

I always ask an employee to allow me to let Janelle try these things (and bike shorts/leggings) on in the store so I don't have to worry about that!

Good thread. :aok:

You can try anything on your child and bring it back if it doesn't fit. The policy for returns is "unwashed and unworn with tags intact."

Obviously, you try on tights, they either fit or don't, so they'd only be on a few minutes anyway. The tags for shoes can be taken off to try on. Obviously, try them on in the house on the carpet. If they look like they've been worn, then you might have a hard time returning them. They have the ability to retag the items once you return them.

I took back Alexia's pink clogs from CG (size 8) last week. The tags were all off (obviously so she can try them on and walk around, etc.). They didn't give me a problem at all (and I kept all the tags and even the plastic thingie all inside one of the shoes) :)

Great thread idea, Lyndee! This will surely be useful (as I'm returning, exchanging alot these days  )

Another policy question:

If I have an item that is now marked down (bought at regular price), I get the value what I PAID for it, right? And not what it's marked down to?

Thanks!

Dawn, as long as you are returning it with a receipt, you get back what you paid. Without a receipt, it's current selling price.

Emma got an outfit from Gymboree for her birthday yesterday with no tags. The problem is.....the stupid outfit doesn't match. Some members of my family are not the brightest. Will they give me store credit for an outfit with no tags and no receipt. It still has the little sticker on the clothes with the size but that is it.

AmyP

I would think they'd take it back as long as it isn't from last year or something like that. They should be able to re-tag the items, especially if they're able to find another of each of the pieces in the store.

At least I think that's how we do stuff like that. You could always call the store beforehand and ask to speak to the manager.

Jenn
August 14th, 2005, 11:29 AM
It depends on your store. Some stores will take an item back without tags as long as it hasn't been washed or worn and some are very picky. Definitely call and ask before you make a trip. Also, do you know what line it's from or what year is on the tag? They might be more willing to take it if it's from a recent line. Also, there should be a number on the tag of the outfit and they can key that into the system and tell you the current price, which is what you'd get back as a merchadise credit.

I figured it out. It is a cotton pair of shorts that are moss green in color from the Aloha collection and a white cotton shirt with bathing suits on it from the pool party collection.

I work downtown so I will run over on my lunch tomorrow. If they don't take them back, I will try to find pieces that will match them. The shorts are 2T which barely fit her now so that outfit will be very short lived.

Is there sales at any random time, or only during specified periods? Like, if I happened to just pop in there one day while out shopping, is is possible to find a sales rack, or are things only at end of season type of sales that are removed once the sale is over?

Colleen
August 17th, 2005, 09:55 AM
Sandy, there's always stuff on sale, but not always "a sale." Does that make sense? Usually, the newest stuff is still full price. Lines that are a little older (a few weeks or so) may have had a first markdown of 20% off, then the next older line may be marked down to 40% off. Every store always has clearance rounders, with stuff that's marked down at least 20% off. It depends on what's on there and how well it's selling. Some lines take forever to be marked down if they sell well.

When you go in, ask the Sales Associate to tell you what's been marked down. Often times, they'll point out stuff that's still on the displays that's also marked down as much or more than what's on the rounders.

I still have my $50 from my Gymbo Visa (which I haven't used at all).

If I use the $50 to get stuff at Gymbo earning time, do I get a Gymbuck?

AahRee
August 21st, 2005, 01:21 PM
Lyndee, you should. It's a gift certificate, essentially, so you should be able to use it like any other GC.

Unfortunately, no. Gymbucks cannot be earned or redeemed for the purchase of gift cards/certificates. That's been the policy for as long as I know.

OK, just thought I'd ask. The receipt had said something about the gymbuck must be stapled to the receipt so I was curious about that. No biggie! Thanks!

Sorry if this was asked before and I missed it....

How does it work if you buy a gift for someone and earn Gymbucks? Do I send a gift receipt? (Should *I* keep the GB?!) Then what happens if they need to return or exchange the outfit?? I'm confused about this one...and should probably just buy their baby gift somewhere else!

If I take something back that I bought with Gymbucks and exchange it for other merchandise, do I still get to keep the discount? That is, I bought CG during Gymbucks and really don't like it on Katie. If I exchange it for other things, will I be able to get $50 worth of merchandise or $25 (because if it's $25, I'd much rather get the money back and use my current merchandise credits).

If they just exchange for size, it should not affect your gymbuck (if they use your gift receipt.) If they flat out return it for merchandise credit, you'll lose that amount.

I'd keep the Gymbuck myself....you don't have to give it to them.

What you could do is give the gift without a gift receipt, but tell her you forgot to bring it/send it, and if she needs it, to let you know. :awink:

Once that redemption period is over, you are out of luck. You can exchange the merchandise you purchased with Gymbucks for the exact same item in another size, but that's it. Otherwise, if you return it or exchange it for something else, you only get back what you paid, and the discount does not get applied to new merchandise. :(

It's best to try stuff on as soon as you buy it, and to go back and exchange during redemption. Some stores will let you exchange for something else provided it's the same price or more expensive than your original item.

How does this work?

If I bought something with Gymbucks- let's say a $20 top that I get for $10 with the discount and I wanted to return it. Gymbucks redemption is over.

If I return with a receipt, I get a refund of $10.

If I return without a receipt, I'll get merchandise credit for the current selling price. So let's say the $20 shirt is now 20% off. So I get credit for $16?

Is there a hole in this system?

Sandy

When was 2T implimented? In other words, up to what lines should I expect 18-24 months to run bigger?

 That's exactly how it works. Which is why, when I decided the other day that I just didn't like one of the CG outfits I bought for Katie, I returned it without the receipt. I lost 20% of the retail value, but since I bought it with a GB, I'm still able to keep most of the value of what I paid and the GB by returning it this way and getting a MC. I wish I had tried it on her and realized I didn't like the way it looks before CG was marked down, but at least this way, I don't lose as much as I would by returning it with the receipt. And yeah... there's something backwards about the logic there, isn't there?

Maybe someone can tell me how this size thing runs.

I have the CAAB velour pants. I bought them in a 3T off of Ebay but I think they are too small. I am looking to find the set in a 4 but finding most people selling it in a 3 pant and 4 top. Which the 4 top is great I believe but what is the difference in length in the 3 and the 3T. Is it enough that she could wear the 3 if I get it that way??? I looked at Gymbo sizing and it says that 3T and 3 are the same but I have seen others say different.????? HELP

Jayne, the thing I noticed is that 3T usually has room for a diaper, and 3 doesn't. Otherwise, they're pretty close to the same.

I had asked a few posts back if I can use my Gymboree visa $50 and get a Gymbuck and someone said it shouldn't be a problem. I asked at the store last Saturday and they said no gymbucks for the voucher. I will tend to believe you guys first-- has anyone used theirs yet?

Also, can I use the COF with the voucher?
I want to get the 4 in 1 coat which will be about 50 something after the 30% discount. I want to use the voucher for the rest. Will they let me do that?

TIA!

Lyndee,

Some stores like to make up their own "rules." I'd email or call customer service and ask if you can use your voucher and get gymbucks. Also, read the fine print on your bonus and see what it says.

Yes, you can use COF with the voucher.

How does Save-A-Sale work?

Colleen
September 19th, 2005, 03:02 PM
Save a Sale can be used if your store is out of an item in your size. It has to be a full priced item or on it's first markdown (usually 20%.) The Salesperson calls the online store for you, and if they have it, they charge it to your credit card and ship it to your home for free.

***You used to be able to order Tier 1 and online only merchandise this way and avoid shipping prices, however, this policy has since changed and you can only get free shipping on items that were originally offered in your store.

I don't know the best time to redeem merchandise credit, but since I recently used it I can reply to the last two. You cannot get GymBucks with it, but I was able to use it during COF and RHDS.

Colleen, Can they do a SAS during FOG, COF, Gymbuck redemption or any other sales?

Lyndee: Just so you know, COF/FOG is the same exact sale, just different names. :awink:

They'll generally do SAS during % off sales, and COF/FOG. It now says on the back of the Gymbuck that they cannot be issued or redeemed for in store phone orders, which is what SAS.

I used my $50 Gymbo Visa enrollment bonus along with the Gymbucks.

My total came to $210. They took out the $50 bonus check so my total ended up to be $160. Then I used 3 Gymbucks. (I was initially going to use 4 Gymbucks but they had to take the bonus check off the top). Oh well. I still have one more to go!

Here's a question:

Can merchandise credit be combined in one card? I've got 2 MC cards right now. One card won't scan but when I call, it say that I have $15 in there. I've got another card- can they put the balance from my problematic card into the one that works?

I bought Linds the PB velour pants and jacket in BG but don't like them on her. I bought them during Gymbucks redemption. I have the receipt and when I return them I'll just get what I paid for them right...not the full price?

Also, if I do Merchandise Credit do they put it on a gift card or how does that work? I've always just exchanged for a different size and have never returned. Can you use the merchandise credit online or in store only?

Thanks Gymbo oracles!!! :)

You will get back what you paid for them.

Merchandise Credits are different from gift cards. They are non-transferrable (you're supposed to sign it when you get it and you have to show ID to redeem it so we can match the signature). You can't use them to earn gymbucks, you can't use them with gymbucks, and they can't be used online.

I quick question....because I need to be sure.

I'm going to Gymbo today for the Rise n' Shine...and in doing so I need to return something.

So I'm returning a pair of CG jeans, and I got my receipt and I see that GBs were used. It rung up as $30.00 (regular price) and under it I got a GB disount of $5.08 off (so my guess it that I paid $25 for it, right?). Anyway... SO, it would be more advantagous for me to NOT return/exchange it with the receipt, right? For me to get the best return or exchange for my money...bring the jeans in without a receipt....and I'll be able to do an exchange for the entire $30. Does this sound right? Am I missing anything?

Hope this makes sense. Sorry...in a rush.

Ah ok.....well, I just checked the site and they are now $17.99. So I guess I'll do the exchange with the receipt, then huh?

Thanks Kim. :) I TOTALLY forgot about me getting the current price of the jeans w/o a receipt...and since this line is already a few mos old they're marked down pretty good.... I'll take my 'loss' of $5 bucks I guess.

Hi, I'm a new Gymboree addict. I'm a mother of an almost 4-month-old girl and I love to dress in her Gymboree, their clothes are sooooo cute. My husband is not exactly thrilled with my newfound passion, but I just can't help myself sometimes!
You all really know your Gymbo stuff, I feel like such a novice. I plan on checking out my first ever COF/FOG sale next month, but I wanted to know, is EVERYTHING 30% off? I know COF/FOG includes regular and sale price items, but does that mean stuff that is on the clearance sale racks?
Thanks!

COF/Family & Friends discount is always 30% off everything in the store. I always tell people to go scout out purchases the day before and put anything you want on hold for the sale (the sale stuff always goes quickly!)

Man it took me a while to find this thread...

My mom got Ahna a fair amount of Gymbo for Christmas. As you can imagine, she already had a few of the items. She'd had kind of a stressful day, so when she asked if I had any of them, I pretended I didn't. :noqueno: I am a liar!!!

Now I am stuck... A couple of the items are from older lines (MBF, PB) and are NIP. Is there any way to exchange them? Will Gymbo look up my mom's account or anything like that? I know she ordered them online. I just hate for the stuff to go to waste, or to only get like $2 in credit. Plus, I'm too lazy to sell on ebay as some of you know. I don't have the packing slip or anything.

Any ideas? I looked online but it didn't tell me much.

I'm assuming she didn't include a gift receipt for you, did she? If there is no gift receipt then all you can get is a credit for whatever the current price is, which right now isn't much since RHDS is going on. Unfortunately, I don't think Gymbo's computer system is capable of looking up anyone's account.

Bridget- If your Mom ordered them online, they can go in and look up her account to get the prices for the items. Also, if the items are doubles and you have the receipts from when you bought them, you can take them back with YOUR receipt and they should credit it you what was paid for them.

Ah excellent Yoda. Thank you.

Actually, I sort of fessed up to my mom so she's supposed to be finding the receipt. I figured I'd feel more badly about the clothes going to waste than finding out I had duplicates. My mom is just sensitive about getting stuff I've already got... she's just that way!

Anyone have any gymbucks they might be willing to part with?

Lisa, yep, they now print codes for the Gymbucks that allow you to shop online with them and receive the discount when you place your order.

Cool ~ THANKS!!

OK, I need help! :) I bought some clothes online last month and earned a $25 gymbuck and have now redeemed that gymbuck for merchandise. Some of the clothes I bought on the original transaction that I earned the gymbuck need to go back. What happens now since I already used the gymbuck? I assume they can't remove my discount from my newest order, right? Will I get the price I paid of the clothes if I return them?

Colleen

Hey, Kristen, long time no see! :wavey:

Right now, you can technically return the merchadise from the original purchase without penalty. The most is you'll get a comment "hey, didn't you earn Gymbucks on this purchase?" But until they make a policy that prevents returns from Gymbuck earning purchases, then they can't stop you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Colleen! I almost feel bad doing it, but I am not in love with the stuff I bought (baby boy) and want to get something I like more. I'll just deal with the disapproving looks/comments!

Does ANYBODY know...what collection will come next? And when? And will the cherries EVER come back? And the poppies? Right about time when they were selling those my son was a newborn, but he's not a girl and I was looking at these cute girly outfits while shopping at the boys department. :) I did like Thin Air.

I am doing stock next Tuesday for the new line that comes out Feb 9th. No news on what it's going to look like. They've stopped doing look books for cost reasons. If I get a map that has any decent pictures, I'll let you know. Most of those are black and white copies, but sometimes reference to colors in the description.

They've been doing a lot of recycled lines, so I wouldn't be surprised if something came back up. Freshly picked looks an awfully lot like Wildflower fields to me. And Prep Club reminds me of Dandelion Wishes.

Hope that helps some.

Can someone please tell me which items will be $9.99 and which will be $19.99 for the baby sale??? I know last fall when they did it some items that were just over $20 (i.e. $21.50, etc.) were marked all the way down to $9.99, instead of just $19.99.

Also, how do I get this 25% off entire purchase coupon? Also, can that be used in conjuction with the baby sale prices???

I'm trying to plan everything that I want to buy!

Thanks!

There's been no indication on which items will be chosen. IRRC with the baby sale with MBF, there were several tops, sweaters, pants, dresses etc that were marked down.

I got this from the loops:

Newborn/Brand New
$10: bodysuits, one-pieces, knit pants, sweater hats, plush, blankets, crib shoes
$20: cardigans, overalls, knit sets, woven bottoms, sweaters, wearable blankets (aka sleep sacks)

Layette
$10: fashion tops, bodysuits, knit bottoms, hats, crib shoes, blankets
$20: cardigans, jumpers, dresses, one-pieces, woven bottoms, overalls

Baby Boy
$10: woven tops, tees, bodysuits, pull-on shorts, swim trunks
$20: woven shorts/pants, overalls, one-pieces (ack! I didn't write these down)

Baby Girl
$10: tees, bodysuits, knit bottoms, bloomers
$20: woven tops, knit hoodies, one-pieces, dresses, skirts, woven bottoms, swimwear, outerwear

And the rumor is it'll be good on all full priced lines. Remember, nothing is set in stone until it actually happens.

As for the coupon, it was mailed out to random homes. Supposedly, the word from Big Gymbo was that it went to new customers (no on on their mailing list.) There have been 2 codes that have been released for online use only to get the discount.

A lot of people called Big Gymbo, and BG maintained that they were not sending out coupons to current customers. So, a lot of people are upset. There are people saying they did get a coupon, but it's not a lot. You must be one of the lucky ones.

I haven't gotten the mail in two days, so I am so totally hoping that there is a coupon in there! Wishful thinking, I'm sure. I just SO want some of the ladybug stuff and really shouldn't be spending more $$ on kid clothes, but how can you not with with the baby sale & extra 25% off?? If not, I'll suck it up and order online with the code and pay for the stupid shipping. Pathetic, I know.

This may be a silly question, but i'm new at this. What is a tier 1,2,3 and so on store?

Tiers are based on store volume and sales.

Tier 1 stores sell the most, have the largest square footage, and get all the lines and sizes. Tier 1's will have everything the online store has.

Tier 2 will get most of the lines and sizes. (But not Tier 1 lines and sizes.)

Tier 3 will get most lines and sizes, just maybe not as many pieces.

They also have Tier 4 stores.

Example of Tier 1: Calypso was a Tier 1 and online line. Plus, 5T can only be purchases online and in a Tier 1.

If I want to return the baby blanket I bought on baby sale for 10.00 but right now I have no receipt. Will they accept it? The price is 19.50 there right now for it. How much will they give me? Will it be a gift card? How much time will I have to use the card? Thank you.

PS and when the new lines are coming?

I was wondering the same thing.

The only thing I know for sure is that with out a receipt they will only give you a store credit.

Without a receipt, you get current selling price back in the form of a merchandise credit. Merchandise credits don't expire, but they can't be used to earn or redeem Gymbucks.

Honestly, if you know you paid $10 for the blanket, it'd be unethical to get back more than you paid for it. I'd tell them you know you paid $10 for it during the baby sale. But that's just me. :dunno:

If I work at Gymboree and order something online, I'm assuming I'd get a Gymbuck. Or won't I? Would they be able to check to see that I'm an employee?

I know I can't redeem Gymbucks, but could I give it to my sister? I just found out yesterday that one of her best friends is pg for the first time and I thought I could give it to my sis to use for her friend's soon-to-be baby. Is that okay?:dunno:

Employees cannot earn or redeem Gymbucks. If you order something online and they send you a Gymbuck with it, you take your receipt and GB to a manager to have them adjust it for your discount anyway. :dunno: When that's happened to me, they've taken the Gymbuck away from me.

If you order stuff online and the sale prices are better than your discount, and you don't get it adjusted, you still aren't allowed to use the Gymbuck. Now that they're tracked electronically, they can tell if it's been used. I wouldn't take the chance giving it to someone else. I'd just turn it in to your store manager.

It finally came, but it took 4 weeks! and I ended up paying $55 in customs for a $150 order! I think I will have things shipped to the states and pick them up there from now on, when I do that I don't always have to pay customs for some reason.

If you know someone who works at Gymboree you would be included on their circle of friends or friends of gymboree promotion. You would get a postcard from someone who works there in the mail for the discount. Usually if there's a COF or FOG we post on here if anyone wants a postcard and those of us who work at Gymboree will send one to you.

Hope that helps.

But I usually try to use a coupon from an employee because they usually have a contest or something for the employees.

Alexia got this dress from the PS line for her bday http://gymbohaven.com/pamlsprings/palmsp48.jpg

To be honest, I'm not crazy about it at all. Something about it...it doesn't really suit her. Anyway, I really thought the person included the gift receipt, but I can't find it. :tearhair: If I were to bring it back, I'm just able to get a store credit, right? And how is the amount of it determined...by how much the dress is going for when I bring it in? (the price of the dress is obviously ripped off on the tag).

Thanks!

For a return without a receipt or a gift receipt, you'll get a merchandise credit for the current selling price.

The dress right now is:

was: $32.50 now: $25.99

I'd take it back asap before they do more markdowns. Like today.

The Gymbo thread is moving way too fast! Let's use this thread for questions and answers regarding Gymboree policies that we can use for reference.

I have some questions. I am sooo new to Gymboree but love their stuff, i am spending 100.00 + at a time, so I found you guys (phew)
Does anyone have any coupons they don't need?
How does the Rise and Shine promotion work?
How does the "invite a friend{or something like that}" and save 30% off your purchase work?
Can I save that if I have a gift card as well?
Can I use my gift card with gymbucks.
HELP< i'm going to run out of money, a beautiful line just came on October 5th or so and I am in heaven.

I have some questions. I am sooo new to Gymboree but love their stuff, i am spending 100.00 + at a time, so I found you guys (phew)

Not that I know of. I'd try asking in the Gymboree thread. Sometimes people here sell Gymbucks. You can find them on e-bay as well.
How does the Rise and Shine promotion work?
You get a one-day only coupon for 25% off a regular priced purchase (I think). When I worked at Gymboree, we gave them to anyone who spent $100 within a week or two of the event.
How does the "invite a friend{or something like that}" and save 30% off your purchase work?
When they have the event, store employees give out 30% off cards that are usually good for 3 days or so over a weekend. It's generally called "Circle of Friends" or "Friends of Gymboree". If you sign up for the e-mail list on gymboree.com, they generally send you one via e-mail with a code for ordering online or one you can print out and take to the store with you.
Can I save that if I have a gift card as well?
Yes.
Can I use my gift card with gymbucks.
Yes, but you cannot use a merchandise credit with Gymbucks. (It's a merchandise credit if you received it when you returned without receipt or returned with a receipt more than 60 days after purchasing.) If you're not sure which one you have, look on the card. Merchandise credits say "Merchandise Credit" in small letters on the bottom of the card.
