Well, technically I guess the ones all around our workplace aren't *panhandlers* - they're asking for money, but they give you a little newspaper in return. But they're on practically every corner anywhere near our building in downtown - they're homeless people in some sort of program that lets them buy these little "street zines" (about issues in the homeless community, projects, etc.) and sell them. You just about can't step outside of the building without being asked if you want to donate to the homeless. There's a no panhandling ordinance in the city of Dallas, but I guess they get around that by giving you this little newspaper in return for your money (even though they ask for donations). Maybe I'm a horrible person for feeling this way, but I prefer to contribute to my causes directly, and to the causes I choose to support, and not be hit over the head (figuratively speaking) with a cause every time I leave my building. Going to the bank (yeah, I work for a bank, but the retail side of it is in another building  ), going to training classes, going to lunch - you can't go anywhere in downtown, at least not around our building, without being asked at least two times if you'd like to donate (by different people, on different corners). I just wondered if anyone else dealt with this around their workplace, and if it bugged anyone else or if I'm a big whiner.
