I've been working on the same project off and on since Nov 2003. Every time I think it's done, the PM tells me something he forgot to tell me (even though he swears he told me) or he lets the client make a change. It's been total hell since last December and I'm so tired of it.
We just finished our final submittal and it was supposed to be delivered to the PM at the site last Friday. I talked to him on Thursday of last week to find out that he was on vacation Friday and Monday. We busted our butts to make the Friday deadline to find out that he was on vacation and that we'd have to do the delivery on Tuesday! We can't ship it Fedex or anything because the building is a government building that screens ALL their mail. Screening can take several weeks. So we have to hand deliver it.
For the past couple of months, there's been issues with the delivery. The couriers weren't doing it right so we started using our student interns to make the deliveries. Recently, this PM decided that deliveries had to go right to the client, not to him. Ok. So on Thursday I email him and ask if I should call the client and he tells me IN A RESPONSE EMAIL that the submittal should go to him first. Ok, fine. I don't care as long as it's out of my office. I forwarded the email to our business services coordinator (BSC) because she usually takes care of scheduling deliveries.
Yesterday, we got it all together, we called PM at his office and he wasn't there so we left a voicemail. That was noon. Not unusual for someone to not be at his desk. The person doing the delivery also called his cellphone and left a message.
At 1:30pm, I get a call from the PM and he's AT HOME SICK!!! Yes, he's at home sick and there isn't anyone to receive the delivery. Isn't that nice? He tries to turn it around and tell me that we should have spoken directly to him, not left a VM. But he knew this was all scheduled for yesterday! Why didn't he CALL ME to tell me he was home sick? No one knew he wasn't there!
The delivery person was also delivering another project to the client so he ends up going there once he hears that PM is out sick. This morning, I find out that the PM let the delivery person give the delivery to the client. :dunno:
This morning, the BSC person gets an email from a partner wanting to talk about the delivery. She went to his office and he asked what went wrong and she said that PM said the delivery was to go to him, not the client like normal. Partner was surprised by that so BSC shows him the email PM sent to me last week and Partner said that's all he needed to know.
So....sounds like PM is lying again to cover his ass. This time he's not going to get away with it. BSC and I are not taking responsibility for this one!
