Mi nickname.... That's a complicated story. Let's see... My name is Catalina and the nickname for that is Caty or Cata. When I was born my mother didn't want people to call me neither so she started calling me Katiuska (Russian for Catalina) and when I was like 2 I couldn't pronounce it so I said my name was cucuca [koo-koo-kah] whick in Spanish phonetics that would be written QQK. So people started calling me "Q" [koo] and that sound brings us to cookie (which is my nickname at OUH) but the nickname was already taken when I signed in OUAL so I just changed a letter and made it kookie.

kay ... i LOVE these threads ... and have explained my name many, many times ...

four :eek: years ago when i was planning my wedding ... i joined a local wedding board ... not wanting to use my *real* name ... i chose the name *Shae* ... i *borrowed* it from the Canadian ice-skater Shae-Lynn Bourne ... i love her skating and her name ... once i married ... i had my name changed to *Mrs. Shae* ...

to go a little further ... during my wedding planning i posted about a good experience i had with dress shopping ... someone replied "Shae's got magic" ... *reading* words vs *hearing* words can result in a missunderstanding ... and what i read really rubbed me the wrong way ... i resisted posting for a few days ... later when the subject arose again ... i posted to clarify my experience at the dress shop ... someone else replied "Shae's got her magic again" ... after this post ... i just about left the board ... these two posts really rubbed me the wrong way ... as they implied that i had some sort of *pull* at the shop or something ... [since then i have discussed these posts with other board members ... and it appears that i was the only one that read things the way i did] ...

after those posts ... hubby kept saying "Shae's got Magic" ... "Shae's got Friends" ... "Shae's meeting her cyber-geek wedding friends" [yes ... we had monthly get-togethers] ... after my wedding ... i helped a few brides out with wedding stuff ... and i was asked "what's the name of your business" ... :dunno: ... all i could think of was ...

Mine is my phonetic spelling of what my little sister called me when she was a baby. My name is Annemarie, and she couldn't pronouce that, so she called me AahRee. :)

My aunt and former co-workers use to call me Dawnie and that was my name over at UB so I used it here. Most other places I go by Hopper (short for Grasshopper) which is my knickname given to me when I joined the fire department.
