View Full Version : Shoe sizes
Girlo July 14th, 2005, 02:13 PM Can anyone here tell me the average shoe sizes for little boys at about 2.5 - 3 years old? :dunno: Alex is 20 months and comfortably in a size 6 right now.....so likely smaller than average feet. :)
I'm asking because sandals are on major clearance at the moment and I want to buy a pair (or 2!) for next summer....but I have NO idea what sizes to shoot for. I'm guessing about a 9.....maybe an 8?
Thanks, girlos!! :)
Nocona July 14th, 2005, 02:17 PM If he's running small, I'd say an 8. Matthew was in 9s last summer (2+) and he has a little over average sized feet.
Shanna July 14th, 2005, 02:23 PM Jacob is in 7's right now and he'll be three in 13 days :dunno:
LISA July 14th, 2005, 02:45 PM I just bought sandals for next year, I grabbed the next size up (11) hopefully her feet don't grow too much over the winter :)
Karri July 14th, 2005, 03:32 PM Elliott is in a 5 right now (at 20 months), which is the exact same size Aidan was in when he was 15-17 months (which is right, if I adjust E's age by 2 months!). Anyway, Aidan, at age 2, was in a 7, then this past spring/beginning of summer, he jumped up to a 9 in sandals, 8.5 in tennies. He's almost 3.5 years old.
Girlo July 14th, 2005, 03:47 PM This is good info! :aok: Thanks....I'm thinking a size 8 would probably be the best guess. :)
This summer, I have a pair of size 5 sandals, which fit....but his foot covers the entire bottom. He just got into a size 6 about a month ago, and there's still some room in them, but just a little. The growth spurts are really messing me up! When I bought the size 5 sandals, he was still in a size 4 (last spring), and I would have never guessed that he'd be in a size 6 before the end of summer!
Jayne July 14th, 2005, 04:50 PM Alyssa is a girl yes but she has smaller feet and this summer at the age of 3.5 she is just now fitting a 7. I think that if he is in a 5 now he might not grow that much in a year..but then again he could. GOOD LUCK.
Jayne
AahRee July 14th, 2005, 05:21 PM I'd say go bigger rather than smaller, but that's probably because my 3 year old fits nicely into an 11 or 12... Every time I think a pair of shoes should last through the season, we get new ones a month or so later. I honestly think that if they're on a good enough sale, I'd get a few sizes, and just sell the others on ebay next spring once you know what size he's really going to need.
Jillian July 14th, 2005, 07:32 PM I've done *ok* with just buying 1 size up every year for Janelle...well except this year, last summer she was wearing 4's so I bought her 5's for this summer and they are still too big.
In general though, we stick with robeez, Janelle is in 12-18 month ones and Kincaid is in 6-12 month ones.
AahRee July 14th, 2005, 07:35 PM Jillian, we should really get Katie and Janelle side by side someday.
Jillian July 15th, 2005, 12:17 PM lol look at this...
http://www.jocose.net/slideshow/images/jillian/Cadyn/janelleandcadyn.jpg Janelle is 11 months and Cayden (our nephew) is 4 months. Cadyn is in exactly the 50th percentile.
So yea, Katie and Janelle together would be funny...
Brandi July 15th, 2005, 01:26 PM I bought Carter shoes twice a year and he seemed to go up a whole size each time. So, summer he would be a 6, winter a 7, summer an 8. Hope that helps.
