How do I clean the hard water streaks out of my toilet bowl? We can't get rid of them...but I'd rather not replace the toilets.

Subscribing! I have the same problem in my new home with one of the toilets and I want to know the answer to this :)

My parents own a rental, and say that dropping alkaseltzer tablets into the toilet bowl works wonders. I've never tried it myself, but hopefully it will work for you.

I never would have thought of that...but do you think it would work on the streaks that run down the bowl to the waterline? (I've never used alka-seltzer, so I don't really know how much fizzing it causes.)

this is from www.queenofclean.com (http://www.queenofclean.com) :

To clean the hard water ring out of toilets, shut off the water to the toilet tank and flush. Spray with warm white vinegar and sprinkle on Twenty Mule Team Borax (http://queenofclean.com/best/seal.html). Wait 15 minutes, then scrub with the FINE drywall sandpaper. Turn the water back on and rinse well. For preventive cleaning, turn the water back off, flush, dry the toilet bowl and apply apply a coat of Clean-x Clean Shield,TM (http://queenofclean.com/best/seal.html), which has earned my coveted Seal of Approval. Clean Shield will keep the ring from forming and make cleaning almost fun!

 I am not so sure I'd want to get close enough to my toilet bowl to get in there w/ sandpaper. Gives me the shivers.

I use Lime Away. Spray it in there, close the lid, turn on the fan, and leave. Go back after awhile and scrub and it should come right out.

Kaboom or scrubbing bubbles with clorox in them... I read a thing that the drink tang works, but I have never tried it.

Okay, I'm embarrassed to admit that we haven't tried to get the stains out yet...we've cleaned the bowls, but haven't done anything extra yet.

I never clean the toilet or the bathtub. DH used to live in a Fraternity house and he is the expert. Those guys were dirty! He uses Ajax and somehow he gets the ring and stains out. I think it takes a lot of muscle! (In exchange, I get cat litter duty). Blah.

There's this great stuff called "the works". It's awesome!! We have super hard water and I for the life of me couldn't get the hard water stains out of the toilet, it looked horrible. I even braved it and tried scrubbing them with a pumice stone  it did work but waaaay to much grunt involved!! The works for toilet bowl is just awsome, just pour it in the bowl wait a couple of minutes and use the toilet brush!! You can buy it at Wal-Mart.

I use Sno-Bowl. Works everytime. It is also great on rust stains in sinks too. Just pour it in there, wait a couple of minutes, wipe with a cloth and your done.

We use Lime Away too. It took a few applications to get it all off when we first moved in but now it's pretty easy to get rid of.
