I am just getting started TTC our 2nd child. My 2 year old son was conceived after 5 rounds of clomid (and a total of 18 months of TTC)...I am wondering what the odds of me needing clomid again? My dr. of course says " we just have to wait and see if you have problems conceiving again"...but I was wondering if any of you girls that used clomid the first time had to use it for your second or third?? I wonder what the odds are of having to use it again?

Is your cycle regulated? If so, I can't see you needing Clomid again... just chart your cycle.

Mine never went back to a regular cycle - so I did need Clomid to ovulate...and it didnt work very well for me - at least, not as well as it did the first time. This time I needed a higher dose, combined it with Metformin and ended up only ovulating 3 times in 9 months. I was just about to start Femara - when I got a totally surprise BFP! I had been told that this cycle was annovulatory, following a CD 24 blood test to confirm if ovulation happened. Somehow I ovulated late and conceived :)

My 2 year old was conceived after a few rounds of clomid. This time...we had been on clomid since October of 2003..and we did get pregnant twice, both ending in miscarriage. We decided that during the holidays 2005 we would take a break from the meds since TTC during the holidays is so stressful. In March of 2005, after being OFF clomid for 4 months, we conceived our second son.

I conceived our daughter on my first round of 50mg. of clomid. When she was 7 months old, we decided to start ttc #2 in case it took longer. Well, here we are two years later and still trying. I think my case is not the norm, but to answer your question, my doctor said that as soon as we were ready to start trying again we would immediately start with the clomid.

I conceived my first son with Clomid after 1 year of TTC and 2 rounds of clomid. (100mg) So when we tried for our 2nd we just did clomid straight away and fell pregnant first round of (50mg) clomid.... and then I had a suprise pregnancy with this #3 baby in my belly now!... But I had HUGE weight loss (i have PCOS) after my 2nd baby was born and my ob/gyn believes thats what helped me fall pregnant naturally the 3rd time!

There's no way to know. We did 7 cycles of clomid, 2 cycles of injections with IUI, and finally IVF for my son. The 2nd time I did one frozen embryo transfer (ended in early m/c), one cycle of clomid, and one cycle of injections with IUI. I'm now pregnant with twins.

Thanks everyone! I guess I will just give it a try for a couple of months before running to the Dr. for a Rx of clomid.
