Has anyone tried accupunture to help with IF? I am considering trying it this cycle and I wondered what it was like. If you have tried it, please share your experience with me.
Thanks!

I havent tried it myself - but I have read on other boards (ie: Fertility Friend and Ovusoft) from women who found it to be very beneficial - and even had success conceiving too!

Kimberly,
I have done accupuncture, while I can't say it helped me conceive I definitely would give it a go. My girlfriend is a Chiropractor and is Accupunture certified, she gave me a few treatments and then I just did it to myself the rest of the time. I noticed right away that my cycles evened out. I had my first 28 day cycle ever! It also made them on-time no more going three monts w/out AF. My GF paid and got herself the whole treatment at a licensed accupunturist and conceived in 2 months (they had been trying a year).
I hope this helps Kimberly, I know how frustrating this is. It's goin on year #5 fairly quickly.
Good Luck!!

Thanks ladies! You are definitely right that it is frustrating. We were so lucky with Ali and conceived our first month on clomid and I assumed that we would have an easy time with #2 also. Wrong assumption definitely! This month marks two years that we have been ttc#2. I am experiencing regular cycles for the first time in my life thanks to the ovarian drilling I had done in December. This month I am on 250mg. of clomid! My doctor has me on avandia and metformin also, so I am getting a bit restless and just want to try everything I can.
Chantal - You are definitely giving me hope! I lurk here alot more than I post, but I know how much you have wanted this. Congrats to you!!!

I did acupuncture when we did our successful IVF cycle (my son is now 16 months). I LOVED it but it was very expensive.

Hi,
My dh and I were ttc for almost 3 years. My cycles were weird (I would ovulate and then about 7 days after ovulation I would start to spot and then have a very light, very short period). After seeing an infertility specialist, I was also diagnosed with high prolactin levels and with a contrast MRI, they found a cyst (small) on my pituitary. Has anyone else had this diagnosis?? I was told to start Clomid and try artificial insemination.
Instead, I went to an acupuncturist twice a week who also gave me Chinese herbs (one of them called "infertility pills"!). During the second month, my cycle was very different. I had implantation spotting (I didn't know that's what it was) and now Ian is 9 and a half months old! So I would highly recommend acupuncture. I really feel that it definitely helped us.
Good luck!

I'm commenting only because you asked, but I have to admit right off the bat that I have not gotten pregnant yet. I firmly believe from all studies I've read, however, that acupunture definitely helps in conception. I continue to do it under my extenuating circumstances because I truly believe.

Kimberly, I know you didn't ask this but I am wondering...with your lack of response to Clomid, has your RE suggested Femara at all? Studies have shown that women who have had no success on Clomid are sometimes successful with Femara - enough to give it a try at least. Just a thought! :crossfing

I totally LOVE going. I go once a week since last year. It has helped with tons of other problems that are connected to IF but I never knew.(not sleeping well, headaches, peeing all the time etc) Our IVF is next month and hopefully it will really help us. At the very least it is an awesome way to releave stress. I feel like a new person walking out of there. My cycles are much better now and my cramps with af are better too. They are lighter af's too.(I have always had super heavy very painful ones) I would recommend it to anyone with any kind of IF. With all the meds we use it can really mess your body up. Acu will help to restore your balance. I pay $50 a week so it isn't cheap. and it has made our money situation super tight. But if I can give birth to a baby it will be worth every single penny. I will miss going there when I do stop. My body is very screwed up and at first was resisting the treatments. After a month that all started to change. The last two years have been the worst in my life. And coping with the stress wouldn't be possible without the relaxtion of the acupuncture. There is an awesome book out about acu and IF and all the other chinese medicinal was to treat it it's "The Infertility Cure" by Dr. Randine Lewis. Go to your library and check it out. It's very interesting the results she gets.
I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide to do!!
