We have "water issues". Josiah overall doesn't mind his bath, but he HATES having his face washed. How else can we do it, other than with a wet wash cloth? And rinsing with another wet washcloth? We dry his face IMMEDIATELY, and he then goes back to playing in the bath. Any suggestions? He screams bloody murder EVERY TIME.
Then there's the pool. We haven't taken him a lot, so granted, its still a new thing. (Unlike the bath.) But he doesn't seem interested. In fact he seems afraid. When we hold him and wander in, even dip his toe in, he screams. Any brilliant ideas hows to help him learn to like the pool?
DH hated pools until he was 8 years old. I, on the other hand, was a competitive swimmer by the time I was 6. Guess Josiah got DH's genes.

Have you tried putting googles over his eyes in the bath? Instead of a pool, maybe just a little puddle in the pool? Maybe he is scared because there is more water in it?

My daughter is 3 1/2 and HATES to have her face washed too. I think mainly it's because my husband usually does it and he is a little rough. Once I explained that he had to be more gentle, it's been working out. I showed her how it could be done nicely and now she always wants mommy to do it!
However, she does love swimming and I've taught her how to wipe the water out of her eyes with the back of her hand.
How big is the pool you go to? Is it very deep?
When I took my daughter for swimming lessons at just over a year, she didn't have much interest at first. We sang fun songs each time (ie Row Row Row, I'm a Little Teapot) and slowly she joined in. Her favorite was sitting on the side of the wall and singing Humpty Dumpty. When he has his great "fall" you have him fall in your arms in the pool. At first they're timid about it, but then eventually enjoy it!
I think it helps to go regularly, so I'd say to just keep trying! Good luck! :crossfing

Rebekah still hates having her face wet. We have to keep a towel right next to the tub and the pool for her to constantly dry her face.
Last year, she was afraid of pools. I think it's just the age. Just take it slow, don't force him, and he'll get used to it eventually.

The more you expose him to the pool, the better.. My neice is 6 1/2 and is still freaked out about going under...learning to swim...and for her safety and having a pool so close, we NEED her to learn. Goggles are a GREAT idea..that helped her alot...
