Hi everyone. Im having a problem with my 2.5 year old. He constantly plays with his penis and its driving me nuts!!!! :silly: He does it when he is sleeping which means that 3-4 nights out of the week I am changing his bed because he wets himself (which takes about an hour because he gets upset and sits and crys before he goes back to bed). So short of taping his diaper on (he wears pull ups at night - he is potty trained during the day) does someone have any ideas to save me some time (and gain me some sleep)??????

PS- if we catch him doing it and tell him to take his hands out of his pants he will yell at us and tell us to go away!:errr:

Man... what a touchy situation :bighug: I have an almost 3 year old boy and he plays with his alot too... Its kind of a catch 22.. you don't want to teach him its a bad thing to play with, or that its "dirty" but you definitely don't want to be changing sheets at night forever... have you thought about putting him in diapers at night instead of pull ups? Or maybe one piece PJ's? Maybe put one of those "piddle pads" kind of things on his bed so that if he happens to wet the bed, all you have to do it take the pad off?

If he is taking off the velcro tabs, put another diaper on him OVER the normal diaper but put it on backwards with the velcro on his back. That way he can't get the velcro opened and get into the diaper.

Our pediatrician told us to just ignore it, every kids does it and if you make a big deal out of it (like telling them to stop) they will just do it more. He said if it does become a big deal (like they are playing with themselves in public) we should talk to them about how they should only touch themselves there in private, like in their own room...of course, that wouldn't help your night time issue though.
