View Full Version : Childbirth really screwed up my body...

Man, giving birth to an almost eleven pound baby really screwed up my body. My latest problem is my stomach--in addition to the lovely c-section pooch and the zillions of stretch marks, my skin is peeling off!! Ugh! Do I just leave it be? The skin in a large section of my stomach (the same area that is pooching out) feels like paper and has tons of stretch marks...and the pieces that are peeling off are pretty big...

I'm falling apart.

My skin on my stomach peeled when my hair started to fall out...at the same time that the hair on my head started falling out I lost all the hair on my belly and the skin peeled...it was gross, but it went away pretty quickly (at least in comparison to how long my hair fell out for!).

Uh oh...the hair on my head hasn't started to fall out (yet)...I suppose that's next. *sigh* It's good to know that this nasty peeling isn't unique to me--I hope mine stops as quickly as yours did!

I remember the peeling too! I don't think it lasted very long..

I've got the c-section pooch, the stretch marks and the hair falling out but no skin peeling.

The things we do for our babies, eh?!?:love2:

Mine has been falling apart too, but from the inside out. My GI systems (both upper and lower...what fun) have been out of control since the birth.
Oh, then I had emergency gall bladder surgery. That one's fun. VERY common in post partum women.

My peeling skin has been from a bad reaction to adhesive..first it was the adhesive they put over your belly to do the c-section...
then from all the crap they had to stick on me for the gallbladder surgery... the EKG leads, the dressings on the FOUR inscision sites.. the tape from the IV (had 4 of those too..they kept blowing my veins and having to restart them)

I have the stretch marks, my hair has started coming out quite a bit, and I get really really sore in the pelvic region after sitting down for awhile which makes it very difficult to walk.

Something that's happened after both my deliveries that I find wierd is my arms break out with all these bumps.

I've been having the peeling skin for several months now. I exfoliate often. In fact, you know that FedEx commercial where the man complains that he was in the middle of a "complex exfoliation" and FedEx actually delivered his box? I've been dying to know what a complex exfoliation is so I can try it. :lmbo:

The hair falling out was another fun one. Oh, and I herniated a disc in my back due to Aiden's delivery. I still have to watch my posture, make sure I sit with a lumbar pillow, and do my exercises every day, as well as take Advil for the inflammation. I only started exercising and eating well so I can nip this in the bud and hopefully get on with my life. I was told that the more I develop my core muscles in my middle section that my back will do better. So, I started doing strength training, pilates, yoga and some "light" kickboxing to help. I must say that the tummy jiggle does decrease the more I lose weight and tone! It just takes time..... LOTS of time (and sweat).

I had a little tummy pooch before Aiden, and I'll have one after him. The only difference is now I can say it's due to him and not due to all the junk food I've eaten.

Same here. My guy was well over 11lbs so I feel your stretched out pain. I also use an exfloiating face scrub on my stomach in the shower (the skin milk one, you can get it at Walmart). It has really helped, along with using good facial moisturizer on my belly twice a day and right after I get out of the shower. The stretch marks are there to stay and from past experience (I grew very fast as a child and got stretch marks on all my joints from growing so fast) that they can take up to a year to fade. So in my case about the time they start looking good again we will be trying to do it all over again.

I had a C-section as well, and the peeling skin problem began about a month PP, and I just let it come off on its own. I didn't moisturize or peel it -- the problem was gone in a couple weeks. I just had to accept the icky flakiness of it all for awhile. The hair loss started at 2 months PP for me and lasted about 3 months after that. That was pretty awful, but it's grown back because now I have a zillion tiny baby hairs all over my scalp!

I just noticed the hairloss about a week ago. Glad to hear it's normal! My skin is a little dry on my ab area but not peeling.

When I saw the topic of this thread... "pregnancy ruined my body" I thought..this is totally me!! However I have different complaints (I didn't have a c-section, so no peeling skin)

First, I am still 2 sizes and 10lbs heavier!! I HATE my stomach now. My thighs are much bigger to. I look in the mirror and wonder what ever happened to that girl that was a cute little size 6 petite????
Beyond that I swear she destroyed my immune system!! I am always sick now. I suddenly now have allergies. And I have serious stomach probems... not to be gross but it's a rare occasion that I don't have diarrea!!! Ok, it just is gross! I don't know what's wrong with me... DH keeps telling me to go to a doctor because I'm not normal. Well I think I am going to have to break down and go because now I've had an ear infection and after almost a week I still have my right ear plugged up.

Sarah I think I'm falling apart too!!

me too  but only on my forearms! they're like pimples. i even asked my dr. about it and she said it would go away after a year. it didn't.

oddly, now that i'm pg again, they are mostly gone. so apparently it's hormone related

I've recently started on the hair falling out thing. Thats fun. Oh and having complications from the gallbladder surgery. Oh, and diagnosed with IBS. Whooo. Thats a fun one to deal with.
My advice to pregnant women..find a GI doc when you find your OB!! You're gonna need it!!
