Hi all! DH and I have agreed, pending one more thing (need to see how much money I can make while he still claims me as a dependent), that I can start working at Gymbo this summer. I found out that I can take a daytime ballet class in the fall, which means that DH will only have to take Sarah one night a week while he's in grad school. I'll be applying in a few weeks since I can't start until after my ballet recital. I will let everyone know if/when I start working there!

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo? (stores, online store, ebay, etc)
I buy my Gymbo both at the online store (if it's more than $100) and the store at the mall. I've also bought a couple pieces from the Buy/Trade/Swap forum. :) I never win anything on ebay, well, the couple times I've tried to bid on something anyway.
Lette

Great idea Eleanor!
QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo?
All of the above.
In store
gymboree.com
Ebay
and I used to buy off of GR. Not sure what will happen now. I've never done the loops. I just don't have time to wade through the emails.

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo? (stores, online store, ebay, etc)
I'll answer my own question- all of the above! :) I've bought stuff online (if more than $100, or if there's a really good sale and I can't get to the store); I've one a few things off of e-bay, and had just started buying through GR when they changed to GR+ :( I'm also on one of the loops, and just bought something there (but I have a hard time keeping up with all the posts, too!)
Oh...and I have found some Gymbo at a CS back where we used to live...nothing since we've moved...
Kaari
May 24th, 2005, 11:16 AM
I pretty much buy Gymbo wherever I can. The stores, on-line, through GR members, the loops, eBay, OUAL  , consignment stores, and even found RS capris at a garage sale for $1 once

store (when there is a sale)
Oneline (when there is a sale)
Ebay often!
And from friends on OUAL
I love their things but they are rather expensive so I look for those few ticket items that I absolutly LOVE and I go for them!
Of if it is a great sale that I can't resist

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo? (stores, online store, ebay, etc)
First I try the store. If they don't have the size I need, then I go online. If online doesn't work, then I go to ebay.
I also go to ebay for the should-have-gotten-that stuff.

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo? (stores, online store, ebay, etc)
Where don't I buy my gymbo is more the question. I buy it anywhere i can find it. Mainly in the store or online. If I can't get a specific piece I'll go to Ebay or one of the loops. If I find it at garage sales in decent shape or for cheap I'll buy it.
It's all I buy for my girls. I'll post a pic of Lily in TP in a little bit.

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo? (stores, online store, ebay, etc)
When there is a line I really like, I buy at the store... there's a huge Tier 1 right near my office, so that is easiest and makes the most sense since unless I'm buying enough to get free shipping, it seems like a waste to pay shipping for stuff I can usually get in the store, but I have bought on line before... I also buy stuff on Ebay when I find older lines I wish I'd bought more of... like my total obsession for all things SSDD!

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo?
I have mostly bought at the store or online (to find a certain size). I've also bought a few things on ebay and I actually bought my first CS purchase today!!
I found a "Spring is in the Air" dress in 6-12 months today at a CS that seemed brand new. I totally didn't NEED it, but felt compelled to buy it since I'd driven all the way there! I also found 4 Gymboree sweaters in 6-12 months but since we'll be out of that size by fall, I didn't get them. No idea what lines they were from, but if I can figure it out I'll post in case anyone is ISO of one of them.
I also decided that bringing two kids to a CS to search around is a *big* mistake!!

QOTD: Where do you buy your Gymbo?
I buy most of it at the store. Never online since it is way too espensive with shipping and duty to Canada. I do buy older lines on ebay but I tend to stick to Canadian sellers again so I don't have to worry about duty charges. :)
AmyP
May 24th, 2005, 03:09 PM
Amy - I know it's online in the right size, but I'd rather not pay for shipping. Maybe I'll call the Tier 1 that's not too far away and see if they have one there. I'm just not loving the on bodysuit I got for her (the white with green trim) and I want to exchange it for that one.
I've checked a consignment store around here, and no Gymbo. :( I may hit one closer to DH's work and see if they have any there.

I buy most of it in the store. I have bought online before, and gotten a few things on ebay as well. I'm bidding on a set from the Splash line that I will hopefully find out tomorrow that I've won. I'll be sure to post it if I do! I've tried yard sales and CS, but no luck so far.

That's good to know - it just would have been nice to know what was going on - like she could have included a note or something - anything. But, if I want more, I suppose I feel better about ordering from her again.
Well, I buy most of my Gymbo right now from garage sales - I've gotten so many good deals. She just wore one of my favorites the other day - I got it at a garage sale for $2 - a onsie and a matching one piece overall outfit - it's just so cute!

I am hoping the size 3s will fit so I can get them on her as soon as we get them! The 3's might actually fit her. They have an adjustable waist so that will help. Also, the 3's have smaller waists (usually) than the 3T's. I was surprised the first time Isabelle tried them on and they fit perfectly. Her 2T pants are just starting to be too short for her.

I was surprised the first time Isabelle tried them on and they fit perfectly. Her 2T pants are just starting to be too short for her.
How tall is Isabelle? Caroline is about 37 inches and around 32 lbs, so she is supposedly the right height for size 3, but her 2T pants still seem longish, which may be due in part to the loose waist.
Kaari
May 25th, 2005, 02:45 PM
Isabelle is just over 36 inches and about 30 lbs (on a good day). She has a long torso so that's why the 2T pants still fit in length. I would say that the size 3 capris are going to fit Caroline perfectly! :)
I know I posted this before, but here is a picture of her in the outfit (stealing the white door background from Lette):

Can't see the pic on the computer I'm on right now, but that is good to know about size... Caroline is also longer in torso, so I think her 2T stuff is going to fit for a while... and Courtney at 16 months can still wear a bunch of 6-12, so she probably won't get into 2T for a LONG time!

So everyone's scoring on ebay! Do you guys all use that snope thing or no? I've tried bidding on a couple of Gymbo things, but I never win. :(

Too cute and ya gotta admit, it's a great background.
So, who is going into stores to do their holds today? I have heard that the add'l 25% off everything will start tomorrow with Gymbucks earnings.
Can you believe I don't have anything on hold for tomorrow? I'm just going to go on a hope and a prayer they have what I'm looking for so I can earn some gymbucks! I didn't have time this week at all and tomorrow's the only day I can shop since I'll be away the rest of the weekend.

I have never used it. What I usually try to do is decide the most I'll spend and either just submit that bid and leave it at that OR if I REALLY want the thing, I'll try to go on in the last few minutes of the auction and win... but that is dangerous b/c I really hate getting into bidding "wars" on Ebay... if I know for example that I only want to spend $10 and end up spending $15, unless I really really wanted something, it is not the best feeling.... KWIM? But on some of that SSDD stuff, I can lose my better judgment.

Dawn~ I did use ESnipe for a few auctions after Jillian suggested it because they give you a 14 day trial! It works quite well. Don't know if I will use it again now that my trial is up but the fees are quite inexpensive.
Jeni~ I think I would do it based on how much the Ebay listing fees would be. Would it be cheaper to just list one lot?

Question, I have 3 gymmies for sale, and they are not selling here so do you think they would sell better on Ebay as a lot, or seperately?
If they are all the same size, as a lot. Otherwise, separately.

I used a snipe for the first time recently. Kim reccommended it to me -- it was auctionstealer.com . This one is free, Alysia, as long as you dont have too many bids going on at once. I would rather use a snipe than set my highest bid b/c when you enter your bid, it just encourages someone else to bid and try to outbid you. This way, I am stealth

I stopped by Gymbo and did some holds, but I don't know if I'll buy or not... I really feel like we have so much right now... not to mention my stop at Old Navy where I bought a bunch of maternity stuff and my stop at J.Crew where I bought a sweater and a bag... Gymbo may just have to wait!

That's pretty much where I am on this too... I might buy $50 worth of stuff for one Gymbuck... but I take a risk that I won't like the next line and then I'll have to find $50 more to spend. But then I think, what if I love the new line!!! I'll have no Gymbucks! What a dilemma!

Ah - I figure, no big deal. All the kids have so much freaking stuff for summer they really dont need more. If I find something w/ the new line that I just HAVE to have, I'll just wait till it goes on sale. I've been lucky and always been able to find my pieces that I want on sale.

However, I do want to get them an outfit each when the new line comes out in June, for the family reunion my parent's are having...it's going to be Hawaiian luau theme. :) I hope I like the pieces so I can have them match that day! :)

Are you on any of the yahoo loops? Search gymboree under yahoo, and there are a bunch of different ones- they all have different requirements for joining, but once you're approved, they can be a great source for finding stuff!
I think I may sit this one out too...just because we really don't need more summer clothes. I'm already scouring e-bay for fall stuff to indulge my need to shop, and get stuff that I actually need! :) (And yes, I DID just buy next years Christmas dresses! )

Ran out to Gymbo at lunch today and I talked myself out of finding $50 of things to buy. I'm so proud of myself!!! There just wasn't anything else I was in love with.
I only went because I needed to get the MV BG dress for Lauryn. Got it for $15. So I now have the whole family line. Cheesy, I know! We're leaving on Saturday and I haven't told DH about the complete matching get-ups. It'll be a surprise! We're hiring a pro photographer at Brandon's christening so I'll check and see if I can get some pro shots afterwards.
So here's the final MV tally:
L Shirt for Brad: $25
XS Dress for me: $15
Size 4 Dress for Lauryn: $15
6-12 month Shirt for Brandon: $15 (he also has the shorts and the T-shirt)
So all this for $70! I'm so stoked that I got all the pieces in the sizes that I needed- and all on sale. I was looking at ebay for these things and the Dad shirts and the mommy dresses are selling for $50 each. Woo hoo!

Lyndee, did you hear that Gymboree is opening up an outlet at Potomac Mills!!
I stopped in the store today for a price adjustment and my mom told me to pick up a couple of outfits for Lindsey since she hasn't gotten anything for her in awhile. I also ended up getting my sister 2 outfits for one of her daughters. I ended up with 5 complete outfits and one shirt for about $55 but I also had a return and a few PA's in there so I did really well.

Jeesh, part 4 is on page 7 and this is the first time I've made it here...it's been a busy week. I spent WAY too much at gymboree this week, but we had to buy janelle a new summer wardrobe with this potty training thing. (which, can I brag for a second? She went from not trained at all to 100% trained day AND *night* in under a week...once she decided to do it she did it...no accidents in 5 days now, including over night and long car trips!) Anyway, we ended up discovering size 3 bike shorts fit better than even 6-12 in the waist...but, well she now has about 8 pairs of bike capris  She'll be wearing these till she is 6. I took pictures of her in her self made outfit this morning...I'll post them later, it's pretty funny looking.
We won't discuss number of gymbucks here...I may very well be selling a few come July.
Julie

I really wanted to get Genevieve a green shirt but they had nothing in the store and I loathe buying white shirts for kids! Please tell me I did ok!

Everyone is getting such cute stuff! This is a good sale, (especially on BP, which is 40% + 25% plus Gymbucks! :aok: ) Too bad I can't earn them!
I picked up another BP outfit for Avery, a pair of Gymmies for Sabrina, and the beach ball swimsuit for Sabrina.

Ok, I went to gymboree this weekend and this is what I got for the girls for some pictures:
For Audrey:

For Genevieve:

I really wanted to get Genevieve a green shirt but they had nothing in the store and I loathe buying white shirts for kids! Please tell me I did ok!
Oh, and I also bought G a pair of denim capris that are so cute. I don't know what line they are but they are really precious, and I'm loving the adjustable waist in the britches.
Cute! :aok: And the nice thing about an all white shirt is you can bleach it.

Cute, Kaylee! However, I have to return one of my watermelon dresses (the 18-24 mo. one). Unfortunately, Alexia has such a teeny tiny frame that the straps fall right off her lil shoulders. :( They seem to be *ok* on Angelina...the straps just don't hug her shoulders like they should. I've kept that one, because the sweater is just too cute with it. :)
Oh, I've been meaning to post a couple pics of the girls. Had their sister pics taken along with Angelina's 6 mos. pics:

I actually went to Gymbo on Saturday, but didn't find anything I really wanted. What is wrong with me?
Jenn
May 30th, 2005, 08:17 PM
Ok, so here's what happened. My mom and I decided to go to Lenox Square (this is in Buckhead and a very $$$ mall) to see the Tier 1 Gymboree down there since it was chilly, rainy and just plain nasty around here. There were only a few other people in the store the whole time we were shopping and 2 sales associates. First of all, not once were we greeted or asked how we were doing. That's not as big of a deal but they just weren't friendly at all.
We were there for probably about 20 minutes. My mom was looking on the rounders for a gift for her friend's daughter that is about to have a baby boy. In the meantime, I'm looking at the rounders also and find a Tiger Love onsie, for Lindsey, for $3.99 and the matching pants for $9.99 (all before the 25% off). I also found the basic white shirt with green piping from DW in both Peyton's and Lindsey's size for $6.99. I was also getting Peyton a pair of terry shorts, the basic striped 'Flip Flop Shop' top and the BP straw market bag that she had to have. My mom ended up with an outfit for her friend's daughter and a pair of panties for my niece.
We went to the register and the SA started ringing us up. After the 25% was taken off, our total came out to be almost $52. I thought we did great and were getting a gymbuck so I was surprised when she handed me my receipt without one. I asked her for it and she said that we were $48 pretax. I totally didn't even think about this when I saw the total and should've asked then but when I asked her why she didn't tell me that I was $2 away she said that there was no way she could have known before she did the 25%. Whatever! She could have told me that I was $2 away after she totaled it and let me get something else and rerung the sale. They were DEAD in there and noone else was in line so it's not like they were slammed, they just didn't want to deal with me. The manager stepped in at that time, took up for the associate and I asked why she was starting to get an attitude. She told me that I was the one with the attitude. I'm sorry but I NEVER would've said that to a customer when I worked there even IF they had an attitude, which I didn't. I was just flabbergasted that they seemed so annoyed with having to rering the transaction for me to get a gymbuck.
*Side note*
I don't know how it is in your store Colleen, but when I was working there if someone was that close to a gymbuck we ALWAYS helped/encouraged the customer to spend the few extra bucks to earn one. We weren't pushy, just helpful and if they only needed a couple of dollars, we'd make suggestions to help them get there, you know. They did nothing to help!
I had to tell this manager that I wanted the trans rerung and I'd get a pair of socks or something. I mistakenly grabbed a pair of socks that were onsale for 1.99 so I still would've been off. Well, the b*tch asked me, with total attitude, if that's all I'd be getting. By that time, I said forget the whole transaction and void the sale. I asked for the DM's name and told them that I would be contacting her. The Store manager told me "Please do"!
Also, before all this started and while the SA was ringing me up, Peyton was carrying her BP straw bag around and she went behind the counter to ask for a sticker. (She tends to do this at every Gymboree because they let her at my store since I know them all.) Well, the SM told her that she couldn't put the stickers in the bag because her mommy probably wasn't going to buy it for her! I told her that the bag had already been rung up but I just couldn't believe the NERVE of her to tell my daughter that.
I'm still so fooking angry about the whole thing and the SM never even apologized for anything. She was so rude and condescending. I made the mistake of telling her that I worked for Gymboree up until about a month ago so she probably disliked me even more. I plan on emailing Gymboree about this store AND contacting the DM. My mom and I stopped at another Gymboree on the way home to get Peyton that BP bag (she started crying at the other one when I told her we weren't getting the bag) and I told the SM there what had happened. She apologized and said they've even had complaints about that Tier 1 Gymbo. I'm still just so annoyed that I missed out on that gymbuck. I didn't spend that much at the other one we stopped at because they didn't have as much good stuff, in our size, on the rounders.
Ok, I think that is one of the longest posts that I've had in awhile.

OMG Jenn! You were treated horribly and have every right to be pi$$ed off!!!! I would call the DM and complain first thing tomorrow! They had no right to treat you that way, and I'm sorry, but it sounds like they weren't doing their job from the moment you walked into the store! Please tell the DM you weren't even greeted or acknowledged for the entire time you were in the store! We have a new program that started May 15th, and it sounds like they are not following it either!
And yes, I'll tell anyone how close they are to a gymbuck...wether it is $2 or $20! It's so easy to look at the total, mentally take off the extra discount and say that they need to buy something to hit it. It just sounds like they couldn't be bothered, and if it was slow, you'd think they'd want the sales, right?
Jenn

The manager at my local one gave me one for spending $40. She knows how much I usually spend so she just wrote a little note on the receipt and gave it to me.
Jenn- I think that's awful. I am the customer service queen. If I am treated poorly, I make a BIG deal out of it. I would call the district manager, the daytime store manager, email gymboree, leave feedback on their website. I'm sorry you were treated so poorly.

:omg:Some people are so rude and nothing you say or do can change them. I am so sorry she ruined your shopping trip with your dd and your mom. My CS always tell me if i'm a little off no matter the amount, I spent $163 the other day and only wanted to spend $100. My CS did not tell me to spend any more to get to the next level to get my 4th GB, she was wise enough to keep quite cause I had already over spent.

Lisa, this round of gymbucks will be redeemable on the first back to school (fall) line. (Last year, the first back to school line was Sunflower Fields.)
After Aloha Wahine, we'll see a transitional line like last year's European Holiday. It had pants, skorts, skirts, long and short sleeves. No word on colors or styles as far as I know.

I stopped at a consignment store today and got some things, nothing fantastic, one is for sure vintage with the old tag, but I have no idea what lines they are from!
A dress for Genevieve
An ice cream print romper for Audrey
A floral set of overalls for Audrey
A black pair of pants for Audrey with a sequined lady bug
A lady bug white bucket hat (brand new) Audrey however, she'll never wear the hat.
A red shirt with a black and white flower on it for Audrey.
The last three items were sold together the shirt and the hat are 18-24 months, but the pants are a size 3 but the look way to small for Genevieve, and Audrey looks like her big booty will fit in them.
Anyone want pictures?

Oh and I just want to say, I stopped by that consignment store today and I was the only person in there and two employees. When I told the lady what I was looking for, she just directed me to the sizes, she didn't help me with searching for brands. It kind of irks me that people don't really try to help you anymore in the retail world. I had my hands full too, holding Audrey in my arms searching through the clothes, while trying to keep up with Genevieve as well.

WOW, what luck you had, even though they weren't helpful at all! I LOVE the ladybug stuff!! Yeah, when I went to a CS with my two last week, it was pure chaos.
I have to post a picture of Katie in "A Bird's Life" from yesterday b/c she looks like she totally wants to model it. And I don't think I've ever posted any of her on OUAL before! (The hat is Janie & Jack but matched perfectly....)

I didn't buy a whole lot this weekend, but one thing I did get I have no idea what line it's from. (It was just under "prior collections.") Does anybody recognize this BB shirt:

OMG!!!! I have fallen so in love with the little Frog Playtime sweater and hat. I had intitally started collecting it for the little guy come next spring. But I found that the sweater hat is huge, so I was lucky enough to find the sweater in a 12-18 months and it fits Blake and is even a little big. It is so freakin cute, I love it!!! I am now collecting the sweater in -3, 3-6 & 6-9. I already have all the hats  I will try to take a picture of Blake wearing the sweater and hat, but I just had to gush about how adorable this line is on.

Well, my parents canceled the family reunion until NEXT year :blue: and it was a Hawaiian luau theme and I was going to get the girls a matching outfit or two from the next line. So, that leaves me on a stop for any further summer clothes (well, except for Surfer girl...I have a couple bids going on in hopes I win). They really don't need anymore. Ok...maybe one outfit each if I like the next line. :blush1: Alexia is going to need almost an entire new wardrobe of fall/winter clothes, so bring on some cool lines, Gymboree! The 18 mos. from last year will not fit her this year.

James usually never cares at all what I buy, how much, etc. seeing how I handle all the finances, he knows that I never spend money if we don't have it. So anyway one day James mentioned something about 'another bag of clothes?' (there were bags ALL over the place in different places) and I told him it's stuff I was bringing back. He said he didn't care that he was just asking...but hey, it worked and I sorta felt bad at the moment, seeing how these girls really don't need any more summer stuff!

I don't have it. The hat runs huge and the sweater is lightly big. I am thinking that Blake will barely fit into it this fall, and he should solidly be in an 18-24. What I have going for me is that he isn't chunky, just tall.

Did you all hear about the new sale? From the gossip I've heard, it's buy 2 items, get the 3rd free.
I seriously don't need anything else so I doubt I'll get anything and if I do, it will be for Lindsey. Peyton needs absolutely nothing else.
Oh, and I didn't hear back from the DM yesterday so I will be calling the number on my caller ID that is hers, today. I'm annoyed that she said she'd call back and she didn't.

Ok, I just got off the phone with the DM about 10 minutes ago. She was great. Very understanding, apologetic and really wants to correct the problem. It sounds like she knows this store is a problem and she's going there today to look at the schedule to figure out who was working at the time we were there. I explained everything to her and she has my email and phone recording from when I contacted Corporate. She also said that she's going to send me something to show how sorry she is and hopefully make things better. No clue what it will be. :dunno: I feel better about the situation and I hope she was sincere and will be changing the attitude at this store since this is the only Tier 1 near me. My mom and I plan to head there in a couple of weeks again to see how they treat us.

FROM GR regarding the sale:
"Here it is.... the next promo! Sorry if this is a repeat post. We are assuming this starts next Thursday, June 9 through Sunday the 12th since plans are triple those days. The window banner reads:
One, Two, FREE
Four, Five, FREE
Seven, Eight, FREE
Every third Item is FREE
In the fine print it states that all of your items (sale or regular price) will be ranked on the computer in descending order. Every third item will be considered "free". For a return value to be placed on everything, the total of every third item will be combined and evenly distributed among all of the items purchased. So your receipt won't show anything as actually free, but the value of that item will be deducted so it works out the same."
