We've somewhat recently moved into a newly built house, which we love. However, I have yet to decide on some kind of window treatment for the 4 windows on our main floor. I'm attaching the floor plan, so that you can see exactly where I'm talking.
Window 1 ~ Very front of house, large window (91"L).
Window 2 ~ This one may not be on the floor plan, but basically, it's in the same room as window 1, on the right hand side.
Window 3 ~ Technically not a window, these are patio doors that lead out to our back yard.
Window 4 ~ Along the same wall as window 3, this is another fairly large window (about 72"L), and is in our family room.
Both 3 & 4 get direct sun come 10/11am until about 2pm, so we need something to block the sun/light filtering (the tv is usually on for the girls, so with the sun coming in, it usually can't be seen...not a bad thing, but still; and the sun gets very hot now, so in the summer, it will be unbearable). The sun also hits window 2, but that's not a huge issue.
I love the look of the wood (or, more in our budget, faux wood) blinds, but we've been told that they would stack too low for window 3 to make it a good idea. I'd like something matching, or at least co-ordinating for 3 & 4. Window 1 could be curtains/drapes of some sort, but I don't sew, so making them isn't really an option. Faux wood alone for this window won't be cheap...easily $300 (and even then, we'd have to have 3 seperate blinds, because you can't get them that long, unless you go completely custom, and even then, they'd have to split it, and they'd just share one valance).
Also, what about window 2? Should it match window 1, or 3 and 4? Or, should they all be the same, as the house is fairly open (I can see window 4 from 1 & 2).
The rooms are all very casual...the 'living room' is basically the computer/play area, and the 'family room' is just that, tv/toys/hang out. We have small kids...they take over everything!
Any help is appreciated!
