View Full Version : Teaching them to Wipe
Karly May 17th, 2005, 07:59 AM I know this might have the potential to be a gross topic, so I apologize about that beforehand.
Anyway, how do you (or did you) teach your kid how to wipe themselves after they do a poo on the toilet? Tyrus has been fully trained now for months, but I still go in to make sure his bum is clean.
I guess I'm worried that if I let him wipe, we'll have a mess all over everthing. :dead: How do I help him with this? Any ideas?
Hannabanana May 17th, 2005, 10:07 AM I use flushable wipes for Hanna ... they're easier to use on her bum because they're already damp (unlike tp which can get a bit more messy imo).
Mandi May 17th, 2005, 10:54 AM We use flushable wipes too for Micayla. They seem to help but to be honest I think they are just a bit too young at this age to wipe really well, kwim? So I still usually go in there to help/supervise when she poops. To me it's worth the few seconds right now rather than dealing with streaks in her panties. :dead:
Dawn May 17th, 2005, 11:10 AM We also use the flushable ones (Kandoo...and she also has her own pump soap too that they make). She does it herself first but then I always use one to be sure it's all clean (just like brushing her teeth). Before we got the Kandoo, she knew to clump the regular TT in a big ball and wipe.
Alyssa May 17th, 2005, 11:28 AM I honestly can't tell you...Aidan just figured it out. :dunno: We don't even know when he goes anymore, unless he decides to announce it.

This is Paige too, we'll get up and find that she has gone during the night,( she never flushes) she is getting better, she used to use up half a roll of toilet paper at a time :tearhair:
we can't use the flushable wipes because we have a septic system and they aren't good for it.
Connie1222 May 18th, 2005, 08:12 PM We got Jack those Kandoo wipes and at first he was all gung ho about wiping himself. He didn't do a great job, but he was doing it and I would clean after him. Now he won't even try and cries for one of us to do it. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking of rewards to get him to wipe himself again.
Lady E May 20th, 2005, 08:52 AM We use the Kandoo wipes too. The kids love them and they like washing their hands because of the soap.
Theresa May 21st, 2005, 12:08 PM I buy the Wal-mart brand flushable wipes. I still go wipe Ellie. She's good about wiping pee, but can't do the poo yet. I figure she'll get it eventually. :dunno:
Shel May 21st, 2005, 04:51 PM I have a picture of my husband showing Jake how to wipe. It's from behind, he's sitting on a chair all leaned over  He figured showing him would help.
And I got a lovely blackmail picture out of the deal :lol2:

Oh man, that's too funny Shel!
