I like to give Paige something to drink after dinner, since she barely eats as it is, well dh now has started giving her a drink with her dinner and now she barely finishes her meal? and it's a battle

Does your child have a drink with dinner or do you give it to them after dinner?

We always give them milk with dinner. I can't eat a meal without having something to drink so I don't expect them to.

I wait until she signs to me that she wants something to drink. Sometimes it is with the meal, other times it is after. Sometimes she will not eat anymore after having her milk, other times she just needed something to drink so she could continue eating.

I give Riley very very little, because otherwise she sits and drinks her milk and doesn't eat. I will pour her more after she's at least eaten a couple of bites.

Lindsey gets milk with dinner but we struggle with the same thing. It seems like she gets full from her milk and doesn't eat much. Our pediatrician told us that a lot of toddlers "drink their diets" and that is not good.

Caroline gets drinks with her meals - like Dennis said, I have a drink while I'm eating, I don't think she should be excluded. Thankfully she doesn't fill up on it (unless she's trying to get out of eating veggies!) so I don't think it's a problem.

We usually give Carter a drink, but a lot of the time, he won't drink anything until he is done. Sometimes it's a lot later that he'll want something.

I can't eat dinner without a drink!

Ya I can't have dinner without a drink either but I eat a variety of food, Paige does not, and she never used to ask for a drink before until Tony started giving it to her, why he just started this now I have no idea : not sure how to reverse this, I have tried to give her a very small amount but she keeps asking for more and more, for the last week she has done this she has left half of her meal :tearhair:

I give the twins water with their meals, but I do give Aidan milk with his meals. I drink water with my meals and like others, i cant imagine not having something to wash down my food!!

We only give Aidan a little bit. If he finishes, but has a lot on his plate, we ask him to eat X amt of bites before he gets more milk. OR he can have water.

Ditto except for the twins part! ;)

Lisa, we do what Karri said if Caroline has been drinking more than eating - you have to take 3 more bites of whatever before I can get you more milk.

I'm going to give it a shot, and I'm going to give dh the same instructions too, he fills her cup and if I try to take it away from her well then she acts like the world is going to come to a sudden stop

We've always given Katie drinks during her meals. Its either milk, juice, or water. The only time she'll fill up on a drink is if we give her chocolate milk. But, Katie is such a great eater, I really don't worry about it.

I don't really pay attention to this because I feel that it's important to get the calcium from the milk and I know that she's eating all day long anyway (not junk).
Good luck with Paige & tell Tony to stay with the program!!
