Hanna has recently started complaining about leg pains. Two nights ago, she woke up in the middle of the night crying & saying that her legs really hurt.
I asked the sitter the next day if Hanna would have fallen/been playing hard that day but she said no.

Are growing pains real?! Are they limited to the legs?!

Yes, I believe they are real. Here's are some articles that may help. http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/aches/growing_pains.html

I hope so. Aidan complains about this here and there. Of course, my mind drifts to something awful like bone cancer. But I'm sure it's just exactly what you post about: growing pains.

OMG me too. Riley has been complaining everyday lately about her legs hurting and wants me to rub them.

Same here - Caroline has been talking about her lower legs/ankles hurting and wants to lay down. She can't get much taller at this rate, at least not for a 3-year old! :errr:

I feel SO much better after reading what Sarah posted. :)

A nearly-3 yo in our area just got diagnosed with some cancer and in the newspaper stories they talked about how he was having leg pains and that was among the early symptoms. Of course my mind jumped there but reading the list of things to look for beyond normal growing pains (nearly) set my mind at ease.

I remember them well as a kid and I was always asking my mom to rub my legs. My daughter went through it several times at 4 and 7 or so. Alex has only complained about it once so far.
