OK, my son Carter CAN go on the potty. He's peed and pooped, but it's a rare occasion that he will do it. We haven't been trying to get him to go much lately because he just never wants to do it anymore. He never went regularly and never told us when he had to go. He will be going to preschool in the fall and must be potty trained to attend. So, we decided that this summer, if he wasn't potty trained by then, we would put him in big boy underpants and just let him pee on himself if he must. We are hoping that this will work.

Today, DH went to get him from his nap (yeah, big nap - he played in his room the whole time) and he had taken off his clothes and his diaper and pooped on the floor and peed on his pillow on this bed. He just told dh matter of factly what he had done. It was like "yeah, I did that." We were both pretty mad at him, but he didn't seem to care at all. When we tried to explain how it's not ok, he was like "ok" but it didn't seem to really phase him at all.

So, now we are not sure what to do. This whole potty thing is really starting to annoy me. I'm not sure what to do about it. DH thinks we should do the underpants thing now, but I would rather wait until there is warmer weather. I just don't want to end up with poop on the floor and pee on the pillow again.

Oh, btw, what do you do with a pillow that's been peed on? Do you put it in the washer? I've never put a pillow in the washer before. I think I might just throw it out.

EWWW! Carter that is gross, dude!

You can wash pillows but I would throw it out.

I don't know what to tell you, Brandi.
Friends of ours actually tape their son's diaper on him at nap/bedtime because he pulls it off. They use that clear packing tape. He is almost 3. He is a huge handful. He now comes out and gets the tape when it's time.

Is it possible to put the potty in his room so he can use it there if he needs to?

I don't know what I would have done in that situation. Dylan has peed on the floor numerous times.

We used to have to do that to our oldest. Duct tape his diaper on his when he napped or went to bed, then cut it off when we changed him. He was just more comfy in the nude. He still is. If he can get away with sleeping in the nude he will try.
