View Full Version : Is mint green too girly for boys?

I was in the Children's Place last weekend and I just couldn't resist buying 2 outfits for the baby. Both outfits came in blue, pink, and light green. Since we don't know baby's sex yet, I couldn't get pink or blue. And all of this stuff was $1.99 each piece so I didn't want to wait!
The one outfit is a fleece shirt and pants and it's a medium mint green similar to this (I actually almost bought this too) -

The other is VERY light mint green. It's a green and white striped sweater and green sweater pants (originally $24! ). Darren really thinks it's too girly but I don't think so. I looked online and it's not there.
So my question is - Is light mint green too girly for a boy newborn?

Brooke.. I had a Carter's outfit I really loved! I tried it on Ben and I thought he looked girly. Let me see if I have a picture....

David wore mint a lot. He looked great in it. It also depends on the outfit!

I don't think so! We didn't find out with Jackson, so all he wore was yellow, green and white. I would have totally put him in that green outfit!

Here's Ben. He never wore this outfit again and I really liked it.

Lette - the lighter green outfit I have is alot lighter than the one Ben is in. Maybe I need to take a picture of it tonight.
It kinda sucks that they only have green, blue, and pink. That's one of the reasons I was a little mad when my friend didn't find out if she was having a boy or a girl. It's way too hard to buy clothes these days without knowing!

I don't think it looks too girly and I was a big one about not putting my boys in yellow and greens that looked girly

Brooke. I bought a lot of Green before Tylor was born. I didn't find out what I was having on purpose. I don't want to know  HE looked great in that light green and I am sure this baby will also if it is a boy! I really like that outfit. Alyssa had it in Yellow!

We didn't find out for either kid, so both wore green, yellow, grey and white in the beginning. I think at the newborn phase, it's less of an issue.

It really depends on the outfit. Owen has a pair of mint green overalls with a shirt and it looks girly on him. He has another outfit that is jacket and pants and that one is totally boy!

I think it's ok!

Here are the 2 outfits I was talking about. So now what do you think? I still don't think they are too girly for a boy. The one with the star has primary colors (red, yellow, blue) around the star and on the cuffs of the pants.

We found out with all our kids. Not necessarily by choice, but we knew what we were having. Dh is VERY particular about the boys looking like boys and the girls looking like girls. He gets annoyed answering the "is it a boy or a girl" question. We always did very gender specific colors. Plus our girls got their ears pierced at 5 weeks old, so there wasn't much doubt. We did a lot of the baby gap neutral stuff with patterns like monkeys and such.
I think it will be fine Brooke.

Due to the style of the outfit I think they look fine for a boy!... the stripe makes it look more unisex and the one on the left looks more boy than girl anyway... well in my eyes..
Aiden was hard to dress in inbetween colours because he had the big blue eyes and blonde hair and he looked like a girl so I steered clear of them....but I probably would have dressed him in those outfits.

This is more how we are...just our personal choice.

Now I had that exact outfit and I thought it was too boyish for Janelle but Kincaid wore it all the time.

We still get asked this about Janelle, and we haven't left the house without pigtails in her hair in well over a year and she is usually wearing a dress! So I don't think how you dress them will eliminate this problem...

I actually think those outfits are more boyish than girlish. I put Gabrielle in plenty of boyish clothes, just not if we went anywhere. I made sure to make her *very* girly when we went out. I'm anal that way

Yes. From a guy perspective, it is girly. If you dress him in that, the other kids might beat him up for his lunch money. Don't do it!

Rebekah was ALWAYS dressed in pink ir purple (because that's all we got as gifts since we knew she was a girl) and people still asked us what HIS name was. People just don't pay attention.
