Well... we've officially had our first "child places foreign object up nose" incident this morning. Zoe was in hysterics and managed to tell me that she put her little Flinstones vitamin up her nose   Oh my goodness. When she first told me and I looked I could see it... but it was wedged SO far up there... no possible way I'd be able to get it out. And as I covered the clear nostril and encouraged her to blow... she ended up just breathing in so hard that I'm sure it just pulled it further up there. Sigh. Of course... she'd sneeze here and there and have runny nose a bit which is a beautiful dyed red color. I know I shouldn't laugh... she was SOOO upset... but I just can't help it. Right now she is completely calm... there is NO sight of it... and she's watching t.v. When I tried to get her to smell some pepper (to get her to sneeze) she resisted. I'm pretty sure the darn thing will just dissolve and it'll probably work it's own way out. Since it's not obstructing her breathing or bothering her anymore... I'm wondering if I should pursue it? If it was a SOLID object like a bead or something I would definitely take her to the pedi... but since it SHOULD dissolve... I don't know that it's necessary. What do you guys think?
If she starts complaining about it again I think I might try something I read on the internet... which is to cover the childs clear nostril than blow into their mouth... that should make it come out the affected nostril. Ugh. I remember I put a bead up my nose in first grade... but I was old enough to understand to blow out my nose to get it out and that eventually worked. BOY I NEVER put anything up my nose again! But Zoe still really doesn't GET the whole blow out your nose concept. We've worked on it a bit... but she just blows out of her mouth still. Anyway... feedback anyone??
