I thought I'd open a thread for those of us who are searching and going to different job interviews.
I'm an English teacher and I haven't been able to find a fulfilling job since I moved back in June. I have been to several interviews in the past few weeks with no answer or the salary is waaaay too low and I have another one on Wed @ 8am. I have also been delivering my CV to many schools as if I was delivering pizza ads from door to door

I've had a few interviews the last few months. I had one a couple of weeks ago that I didn't get. I had one back in December and I really wanted the job. I finally heard back from the recruiter last week and she all but said I didn't get it. She said I hadn't been ruled out but they had some concerns that I didn't have quite the right experience. Whatever.
Fortunately I'm not really unhappy in my current job, I'm just looking for something closer to home and a chance to work with newer technology (I'm a software developer).

I don't know if this happens in the US as well... in Mexico one of the biggest problems is the underpayment. Companies want young, overqualified and experienced people and they pay peanuts.
"If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys"
I feel "lucky" being a teacher, there isn't always a 'limit age'... but the pay is too low (max. 800dlls per month)
Good luck in your search, Dennis :)

Catalina, it depends on the field and the job market. Right now, they are offering ridiculously low salaries for programmers (at least here in Denver). They want someone with 10 years of experience in 12 different technologies, and then they offer entry-level money.
Good luck to you as well!

Yes, you're right. I see that because DH is a systems Engeneer and what you mention happens in the company he's working for as well. Many companies are hiring students or practicants who are payed less than a professionist

My interview went OK. Now I have to go back tomorrow to have a second interview

You had the first interview today and the second tomorrow? That's weird. Whenever I've interviewed, they do the first, and then after they finish them all they decide who they want to come back, so it usually takes a while between the first and second.

The thing here was that the English coordinator, who was supposed to do the interview, called in sick and as I was already there the principal 'interviewed' me. Well, she more like kept me busy for about 10min. and so I had to go back the next day to be interviewed by the coordinator
I'm still waiting for an answer... :(
