View Full Version : Houston Area Ladies!!!

Good afternoon ladies! I thought I would let you all know (in case you haven't been to Karen's UB journal) that Karen and Billy might be moving to Cali in a few months. She has been talking about hosting a get together and what makes it even greater is that Alisa might be in town next month. I'm just waiting for Karen to pick a date and time she might be free and will help her by posting information here since I know not everyone goes to check info at UB.

So, Houston ladies (Ami, Jen, Kim, Stacey, everyone else) if you are interested go ahead and let me know you're at least around here. Stay tuned for more details. How exciting that we might get to see Ami, Jen & Kim's new babies and meet Stacey and her group!

Hey, Kim. I'm just seeing this thread now. (I don't get around to the general areas of the boards much.) I'm around though, and now I'm subscribed to this thread. :)

It's ok! I understand. There really hasn't been any more information since I posted this. Karen is dealing with Billy being away and I haven't heard any more from Alisa, but when I do I'll post here. Maybe you can help direct the other ladies here since I know you all post in each others journals.

Take care.

here!

I'm here, too!

And, we have our plane tix! YAY! :yippee: Lennon and I will be in town from 3/27 to 4/3 (Sat to Sat). I'm planning to go into work most of that week, and I won't be available that first weekend. BUT, I *can* take off a day sometime during the week, if anyone wants to meet up at the park or somewhere the kids can all run around and play. Or, we can meet in the evening somewhere, too... doesn't matter to me. The only thing I have to work around is Lennon's afternoon nap (after lunch)... don't want to mess with that!

My parents live in Tomball, so we'll be on that side of town. I think that's fairly close to all of you, right?

So, what do you guys think? Any ideas where/when we should meet?

KimC
March 16th, 2004, 06:55 PM
Tomball's kinda far for me, but I don't mind a bit driving to see you! You mentioned the Memorial City play area....which is great. I was talking to Karen a few minutes ago and she asked me if it's like the one in the Woodlands. I don't know because I haven't been.....any of you north side ladies been to the Woodlands Mall? Let me know! Alisa, for you I will make myself available!

Ami
March 16th, 2004, 08:01 PM
 I have been to The Woodlands Mall play area, never been to the Memorial city one though so I can't compare the 2. One of my friends just told me about a great park in Tomball if we want to meet at a park. I am up for whatever. We could find a kid friendly restaurant that has a play area also :dunno: Willie's Ice House has a sand area and we can sit outside if the weather is nice, I think they have 'ritas too, who am I kidding? They do!!

Alisa
March 19th, 2004, 11:03 AM
I love the idea of going to the park in Tomball OR hanging out at Willie's if the weather is nice. Maybe we should have a backup plan in case it isn't? How about we go to the Woodlands Mall play area?

Now, which day do we want to meet... I am completely flexible on which day on take off from work, so let me know if any of you have anything already planned for the week. But, just so we can start discussing dates, I'll throw one in the ring... how does Wednesday, March 31 sound? :)

Ami
March 20th, 2004, 12:59 PM
Wednesday sounds great to me, what time frame are we thinking about? I know Jen works usually from 10-3. She can usually work earlier or later if she tells them in advance.

Alisa
March 20th, 2004, 03:53 PM
Hmmm... well, Lennon's usual naptime is after lunch (usually 2ish to about 4ish our time, which will be 1ish to 3ish your time). If Jen can make it in the morning (like around 10 or 11?) until lunchtime, that would be great. Otherwise, we could always just do something after 3. What do you guys think?

Stacey
March 20th, 2004, 11:38 PM
*If* Maia naps, it's in the afternoon, so the morning would be great for us too. Wed, March 31 is fine for me as far as I know.

I can't wait to meet those of you whom I've never met before... and I'm looking forward to seeing those of you again whom I do know. :)

Ami
March 21st, 2004, 10:02 AM
Anderson naps around 2 so morning/early lunch is good for us.

Alisa
March 21st, 2004, 05:00 PM
YAY! That's so cool that our kiddos are on the same napping schedule. :D

Stacey, I'm so looking forward to meeting you, too! This is going to be a really nice break from my week down there (it isn't really a *vacation* for me  ).

Ami, do you know if Jen will be able to make it then, too?

Kim, can you make it, too?

Does anyone know about Karen? She's been soooo out of the look lately, but I'm hoping she can join us, too. :)

Alisa
March 24th, 2004, 10:12 PM
OH NO! I have bad new! :(

I had to reschedule our visit to Houston... turns out, we'll be moving this weekend and next, and I just can't leave DH here all alone to do it (not because I'd feel sorry for him working his tail off, but because it'll cost me a FORTUNE... he'll hire people to do it all instead  ).

SO, instead of next week, Lennon and I will be coming down for a visit May 1-8. At least that gives us plenty of time to plan something, right?

Sorry for all of the confusion and for changing plans at the last minute like this. But hey, all of YOU guys can still meet up if you like, and then we'll all have another GTG in May! :)

Ami
March 24th, 2004, 11:16 PM
no problem Alisa! We will make time for you in May  that may work out better for me anyway, I have been pretty busy with my mom's company stuff lately. Good luck moving and congrats!!! You are a home owner!!!

Alisa
March 25th, 2004, 10:32 AM
Thanks, Ami! :bighug:

I think it'll work out better for me, too. My mind is going in about a million different directions right now, so I think I'll be more relaxed about things by May after we're all settled in. :) We'll pick up this again in a few weeks. :)

GOOD LUCK with the biz stuff!

So, are you still coming down 5/1-5/8??? Just wanted to check in! I sent you a PM also!

Alisa
April 26th, 2004, 01:48 PM
Unfortunately, no!

Because of work, I have to reschedule AGAIN, but I'll be sure to post it out here ASAP. I'm looking at the end of May, but I'll have the exact dates later.

Can't wait to see all of you again! :)

Ami

damn woman! make up your mind

Alisa
April 26th, 2004, 02:20 PM
damn woman! make up your mind
Ahaha! The sad thing is, I *have* made up my mind twice now... it's the minds around me that keep changing!

Ami
April 26th, 2004, 04:29 PM
well, Jen and I will keep monitoring the 'ritas at CA to make sure they are still good for your visit

Alisa
April 26th, 2004, 05:51 PM
Ahahaha! Good plan!

Alisa
April 26th, 2004, 05:52 PM
OK, I've actually rebooked my flights... I'll be there 5/22 to 5/30 (8 days!). So, is the middle of the week better for everyone? Or would Sat., 5/29 be best? I have to work most of those days, but I can take off a day or 2 for an important cause (like 'ritas! ).

Ami
April 26th, 2004, 05:58 PM
for Jen I know Saturday would be best, for me too, that way I can leave the kids with Alfredo :aok: I can't wait!!!

Stacey
April 26th, 2004, 06:57 PM
Saturday's best for me too (if we're doing no kids)... but not that first weekend because I'll be out of town. May 29 would be great for me. :) I can definitely do stuff during the week though (preferably not Monday) if the kiddos are welcome though.

Alisa
April 27th, 2004, 10:47 AM
Maybe we can do both? How about a kiddos day at the park (or zoo, or somewhere fun like that) during the week for anyone who can make it, and then a GIRLS ONLY night on Saturday??? I'm not getting in until Saturday evening on the 22nd, so it'll have to be the 29th for me, too. It would be soooo fun to get together without the kids in tow for a change, wouldn't it? Maybe we could actually TALK!

Ami
April 29th, 2004, 09:44 PM
sounds good :aok: I am marking May 29th on my calendar!!

Alisa
May 24th, 2004, 03:56 PM
OK, ladies... I'm here in Houston. Where would you like to meet? Does Friday morning sound good to everyone? It looks like the weather will be great all week, so I figure we can find a nice park somewhere on the North or Northwest side of town and hang out with the kids. Anyone have any suggestions? Ami, didn't you say the park in your neighborhood is nice? :)

Ami
May 24th, 2004, 04:14 PM
I can't do it M,W or F morning. I work now... didn't know I would have a job when I said I was open anyday/time before. I thought we were meeting Saturday at Cafe Adobe? I know Jen can't meet weekdays either until after noon.

Alisa
May 24th, 2004, 04:29 PM
Yep, still planning on the Cafe Adobe jaunt... Saturday evening, right? In the Woodlands area?

Darn, that's too bad about the weekdays, but I'm very happy you got a job (assuming you wanted one -- I've been so out of touch lately!). :) We could always meet in the evening with the kids someday during the week if that works better. :dunno:

Ami
May 24th, 2004, 08:11 PM
oh good! scared me there for a minute I thought CA got nixed

We can do the park after the kids naptime  There is a real nice park (my friend told me, I have never been myself) right in the middle of Magnolia and Tomball :aok: Karen also wants to know what we are doing so I will let her now about CA on Saturday and then what day we will go to the park when we get that figured out. What time Saturday? Around 5 or earlier would be best, it gets packed for dinner. Yay!! I am so glad we get to see you.

Alisa
May 25th, 2004, 10:27 AM
I agree... I think 5 would be a good time to stroll in, get our table, down a few ritas, and then order some food. I can't wait!!!

The park sounds wonderful! Do you have rough directions on how to get there? So, how about we meet over there tomorrow afternoon around maybe 3ish? Or, would Friday work better? Jen wrote to me this morning to say that her little ones are sick, so she isn't sure they can make it to the park. But, maybe they'd be better in a couple of days? :dunno: Either way, it doesn't matter to me -- do you have any preference for Wed. or Fri.? I know Kim wanted to meet up with us, too, so I'll be sure to let her know as well.

Ami
May 25th, 2004, 11:15 AM
I will ask Stacey what would be better for her, it doesn't really matter to me.

Alisa
May 25th, 2004, 11:17 AM
Cool! I'm really looking forward to it! :) :) :)

Ami
May 25th, 2004, 11:26 AM
me too :aok:

Stacey
May 25th, 2004, 11:35 AM
I was going to try to make a chiropractic appointment for Friday afternoon, but if this is then, that's fine too. I can make the appointment for another time. So tomorrow or Friday afternoon is fine for us. I don't know where the park is though.

And I need to tell Brad about CA on Saturday. I forgot about that. I'm almost positive I'll go though. :)

Ami
May 25th, 2004, 11:45 AM
I guess we will see what day is better for Kim? Or we can flip a coin

The park is near 2978 and 2920, I will get better directions today.

Alisa
May 25th, 2004, 03:48 PM
I got an email from Kim, and she has no real preference..... so, how about we just say Friday at 3pm? That way, we have time to get the directions and make whatever plans we all need to make so we can get our butts over there. Sound good? :)

Ami
May 25th, 2004, 06:38 PM
sounds great!

The name of the park is Burroughs park. It is off of 2978, coming from Tomball it is past 2920. I will get better directions from Alfredo but that is the general area. We can go to any park, that is just the one I heard was nice and would be in the middle of Stacey and I and Alisa. Kim you would just take 249 to 2978, it is past Karen's house. Speaking of Karen I need to email her!

Ami
May 25th, 2004, 07:05 PM
From Tomball (249) Take a right on 2920, left on Huffsmith Kohrville(sp?), right on Huffsmith (there is a Shell station on the right) the park is on Huffsmith about a mile down. There is a sign that says Burroughs Park.

MommaC

Hi Ami ~ It has been a while, hasn't it?

I know I just saw Alisa and Lennon a short while ago but I'd sure love to be doing it again. I'll bet her Mom & Dad are in their glory having him all to themselves this week.

Hope you all have a wonderful time at your GTG and give everyone a hug for me!

Alisa
May 27th, 2004, 11:02 AM
Great! Sounds easy enough (famous last words  ). The little guy has been taking pretty loooong naps since we got here, so we might be running a bit late. But, I'll do what I can to get him in gear and get over there by 3pm. The words "BIG playground" can really light a fire under him!

I hope Karen can make it to at least one of our GTG's! It would be great to see her one more time before she heads off to CA.

Hi, MommaC! :wavey: I wish you could be here, too... it was so wonderful getting to see you in NV. Well, July will be here before we know it. :)

Stacey
May 27th, 2004, 11:13 AM
Hey, y'all - Does anyone mind if my DH comes along tomorrow? He's not a PITA.

Alisa
May 27th, 2004, 11:29 AM
No problem! He can watch all the kiddos while we gab. (j/k)

Stacey
May 27th, 2004, 11:33 AM
Yeah, I figured he could help me and Ami with the kids so we could talk more. Of course we can put him on duty with any of the kids. It's just that he knows Ami's already. :)

Alisa
May 27th, 2004, 11:34 AM
I think the only challenge with Lennon will be to keep him corralled into the playground area... he's such a wild-man! Of course, I think Anderson is about the same. This should be very interesting to see the two of them tearing up the place together! Hahah!

Ami
May 27th, 2004, 02:09 PM
Brad??? HELL NO!!! I am not going if he does!

YAY! Can't wait!

KimC
May 29th, 2004, 11:46 AM
You know, I thought someone said this was an adults only gathering. That may change things. I'll talk to Patrick and see if he thinks we can swing it. Hope to see/meet you all this evening!

Ami
May 29th, 2004, 12:32 PM
Kim  today is the adults only thing. We met with at the park with the kids yesterday. We will be in the bar area of Cafe Adobe today, they don't allow kids to my knowledge :dunno:

KimC
May 29th, 2004, 12:48 PM
Ok....then I misunderstood the previous posts.
