We are looking for a magazine for Carter. We were thinking of "Your Big Back Yard" from the National Wildlife Fed. Also, I remember hearing of "Turtle." Anyone know anything about these? Do they have lots of stories or activities or cutting and writing?

TIA!

Hey - I'm back to answer my own question. I read over at MDC that people like Your Big Back Yard (still don't know what's in it though) and they hate Turtle. I guess Turtle is pretty cheap. Ladybug seemed to be a good one too.

Also, people didn't like National Geographic for Kids because it included a lot of advertisements. They were really mad because the sample that came in the mail didn't have any in it and then when they subscribed to it, they had a lot of them. I think it's too old for a 3 year old anyway, but I thought I'd share what I found.

Still looking for other opinions.

Brandi, we get "Your Big Backyard" - Caroline really likes all the pictures and the little activities, so I would recommend it. Likewise, what about a subscription to Nick Jr., which comes with a pull-out magazine ("Noodle") for the kids?

We get Nick Jr. magazine free at Ava's preschool and I like it. It's for moms and kids--the pullout is mostly for kids. I don't think I'd buy it for Ava though... I like "Babybug" which is by the same publisher as Ladybug. (But Ava's only 2.) However, this one is NOT CHEAP! $5 an issue? I'll buy books, thanks.

Anna gets Chirp. :) I'm pretty sure it's Canadian.

We get Your Big Backyard (which we subscribe to) and Ladybug (which my mom subscribed us to). Of the two of them, I think Isabelle likes Ladybug the best (it's the more expensive of the two). It has a bunch of stories (a few short, and 1 or 2 longer ones), some poems, a song, a maze or other pencil activity, and some things to cut out (with help- this month, it's animal cards). We actually got two this month...apparently the girl who lived here before also had a subscription (although i don't remember receiving any other duplicates  ). If you're seriously considering it, I'd be happy to put the extra one in a manila envelope, and mail it to you so you could look it over...
