We are. We're looking into a domestic adoptino -- we found an adoption facilitator we like and were approved by them -- our next step is to find someone to do our home study and get that moving.

We are in the process of adopting from Russia. In fact, we leave for our first trip on Saturday to meet our son. If all goes well, we hope to get a court date in 4-6 weeks and have him home by the end of May/early June.

I have not been here in forever but wanted to update.
We finalized our adoption Sept. 8, 2005 and are now the proud parents of a 3 year old little boy, Andrei, from Russia. He has adjusted well to his life in America and is really picking up the English language.

We are thinking about adopting a little baby girl. We have 1 biological son who was diagnosed with autism but he has got it mildly. The chances of having another autistic child is a lot higher and I would love for Jacob to have a sibling.

We started the process before we had Isabella. I didn't know if I wanted to go through with another high risk pregnancy and months on end on bed rest. We looked into adopting a girl from India, but ran into problems early on. We aren't infertile and my husband is in the military. Plus the travel requirments to adopt wasn't something Jim could do.
We still talk about it all the time.
My husbands little sister is adopted and one of his childhood best friends. We discussed possibly adopting another when Isabella is in kindergarten.

Is India a difficult nation to deal with when doing international adoptions?

It didn't seem like it.
Although they (at the time) were a no travel area for military personnel and the area our agency did adoption through required both parents to travel there to complete the adoption proceedings in India.
Our adoption counselor also told us it would be difficult for us to adopt there because we already had 3 children. They seemed to favor infertile couples. Not that we couldn't adopt, but that it would make it more complicated.
She also said they may not approve us because my husband is active duty military. Not because they don't like the military, although she said in some areas they may not, but because it would put the child at risk of losing a parent rather tragically.
We were too young to adopt through China at the time. You had to be 30-35.
Vietnam was a similar situation with Jim not being able to travel.
Samoa required that you be of Samoan decent. Guatamala and Haiti were another no travel area for military.
Ukraine at the time had the longest waiting list, but because we had other children we would only be able to adopt a medically fragile child.
I don't think they offered the Marshall Islands at the time.
We got only a couple steps through the process before deciding to try to have another baby.
It was really disappointing.
