As promised, Stagg has been working on a new way for you to save journals. I think the new way is even better than the old, since it saves everything (including avs, sigs, smilies & images :aok: )

It is a bit of a server hog, though, so we are (ok, Stagg is) going to be building in some restrictions to it: things like you can only save your own journals and such.

In the meantime, if you feel like you just can't wait, please EMAIL me at Sheila@OnceUponaLife.com with journal in the subject. I will get it back to you as soon as I have the opportunity to!

Just as a note... its not really like the old program. This one is basically a special setting that will le t you have all posts from your journal show up on one page. You might be able to guess its a BIG page.

When you are a paying subscriber, there are more areas to post in, one is you can have journals. This is a program that saves those including all the pictures and smilies that were posted.

I was able to save them, but without the pictures and smilies (I only really wanted to save my pregnancy and mothering journals. Doesn't matter about scrapbook and weightloss journals). I didn't have time to go through and save all the pictures though. I would still be intrested in having them saved, but I can't do it now that my subscription has run out. HOwever, if there's still a way, I'd like to know ;)

I was wondering myself. I thought Dennis hit up Stagg while visiting. :)

Yes I did harass him about it. He finally said that he'd set it so we could just set the posts per page as high as we want since he doesn't have time to finish the journal saver, but I don't think he's done it.

I've actually got it working, and I can save journals on a per request basis.

Its not ready to be released to the public, though. After discussing it, we thought it would be best to add a function that you could only save threads you started. We'd like to make sure that other people aren't saving your journal.

If you would like me to save your journal, just email me (sheila@onceuponalife.com) and I will get to it as I have the time. Its not such a slow process, but fitting it in can be a bear.

Another option which might be easier...

Go to the archive (http://archive/index.php/) (link at the bottom of the page) and click on your journal. I reset it so that you can have 1100 posts on the page, which should cover journals. If not, let me know and I can make it more.

It strips out most of the extraneous information, but its quick and easy. And it cuts the resulting PDF file from 500+ pages to around 150.

This was too easy. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

What do I do after I click on my journal?

How do I save?

Print to PDF.
You need to get a program that will allow you to save files to pdf.

http://www.primopdf.com/
http://www.jwwalker.com/pages/pdf.html
www.tucows.com may have some as well. (just search for print to pdf or save to pdf)

I use Print Factory (http://www.fineprint.com/). I think they may charge for it now, though.

I use this one for work all the time - http://www.pdf995.com/
It's free.

This won't show the photos just the link.

Right. That's part of what brings it from a 500+ page/9.5MB document to a 150 page/.5 MB document.
