I gave him some tylenol, will watch for fever, will make sure he drinks so as not to get dehydrated. What else should I look for/make sure of?

Luckily we went 20 months without this lovely experience. But now I want to make sure I know what to do. I bathed him and put him to bed. He was NOT happy about the bath. I think maybe he is/was a bit scared, not knowing what happened.

Anyway, any advice appreciated.

If it's the stomach bug that's been going around, be prepared with an armful of towels or something; he'll be throwing up ALOT MORE! :dead: Also be prepared for diarrhea that follows....

My pediatrician always says nothing by mouth for 2 hours after vomiting. Then, start with a little water, see if it stays down. After a couple of hours of water, you can start on Pedialite. I think you wait most of a day after everything subsides to re-introduce food. If there's any diarrhea associated, you go with the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Good luck - I hope this was just a one time thing and not that nasty bug!

Ditto to what everyone else said. Just try to keep him hydrated and watch for a fever. And if you're worried about anything, call the dr - that's what they're there for.

oh, and on the dr. thing. that's a hard one... i'm not sure which to call. his dr. back in boston, or the one here whom he's never actually seen yet.

The pedialyte is recommended because it has the electrolytes, but if he's drinking plenty of water I wouldn't worry about it. Our ped said we can give them gatorade (or equivalent) if they won't drink pedialyte. But the main thing is just to keep the fluids coming.

As for which doctor, I would probably call the old one.
