on me?
Genavieve will be starting daycare soon. It will be the first time I have ever left her with anyone who is not family or a close enough friend that I consider family. Any tips on making this easier on me? I know I am going to be an emotional wreck!!
TIA!

Advice??? Bring tissue? I cried all the way to work, but just for the first day. My only advice is to not let her see you upset, plaster on that happy face! It will be fine. Good luck, joan

I really don't have an any advice, but I did just go through leaving them at a new daycare a few weeks ago and it was way harder on me, than it was on them. Yes, Evan (who was 11 months at the time) cried, when I was leaving, but I knew that after 15-20 mins he would be fine. I cried more than they did, I think
Just remember that they will be fine and playing in no time and won't even remember that you left her there.
Call and check on her, too - that will ease your mind - it did mine  I call around 9:30am and they director said she was going to call and tell me how great they were doing (because she saw how upset I was when I left them), but she didn't want to freak me out that she was calling so soon  She said that they boys were doing great! Playing and having a great time!
Honestly, it was only that one day that was hard. It has been 3 wks and today when I dropped them off, as soon as I got Evan's coat off, her ran right over to the director and wanted her to pick him up. That just made me feel so good to see my boys love and trust these women.
Best of luck and it's ok if you cry ;)

Can you start her a few days before you go back to work? That way you can leave her for shorter periods so you both get used to it.
Just remember it's going to be harder on you than it is on her.

Dennis, I am not starting back to work... just switching care. Right my ILs watch her everyday but they will be gone on vacation and then would like some more time to themselves once they get back. So, once they get back she will only be going 2 days a week. The director I talked to last night said we could bring her by to play for a few hours before she starts so I may have my ILs do that sometime in the next week or so. :)
Thanks for all the support you guys! I will make sure I have a box of tissue in the car!

Let her bring something from home (if they allow it). I did that with Genna, and I felt better. I don't know if she did, but I did  If possible, start her on a day where you can work a 1/2 day.

You know, I was a little teary-eyed, but in all reality, it was wonderful! Jackson took off with the other kids like there was no turning back! I stayed just a little longer than I normally would have to make sure (I) was okay !
I think you are doing a wonderful thing for G! She's going to love it!

Have someone hit your car? As I was walking out to the parking lot on M and A's first day I was getting a little teary, but when the lady came and told me she hit my car I was ok. :disbelief
