I just got an email for $50 bonus to get a Gymboree Visa. I"m so anti-store cards because I like to use my Amex for everything that I buy. But $50 is quite tempting.

What perks do you get with this card?

Do they let you make payments online? (if they make me write a check to mail, that will be a deal-breaker for me. )

It's through USbank. We have a credit card with them and you can make online payments, so I would assume you could do the same with the Gymbo Visa.

I need a Gymbo Visa. You get an extra 5% off every purchase. They also do 10% off weekends every few months. Plus, you earn 1% back of your total spent in a Gymbo GC.

My manager keeps asking me when I am going to get one. I need to sign up.:lol:

We used to be a 1 credit card family (UPromise) and then I wanted to sign up for Disney Points since we'll be going there in a few years.

Got a $40 bonus from Disney and now I'm using 2 cards....

We pay off all balances at the end of the month too.

Chris would never go for it. We use our MasterCard for everything, which is thru Midwest Airlines. Its allowed us to fly a lot of places for free. It enabled us to fly the family to Disney for free :lol: So I think that is a bit better of a perk for us.

When I got my Disney Visa just this past December, I couldn't believe the 5 figure limit they gave me!!! :faint: I thought to myself... now what in the world??? :crazy:

Lette~ It all depends on how you use the credit. If you max it out, it could look bad etc. But, if you plan on paying it off every month then it would be ok. It also depends on how many cards you already have.

Well --if you are going for something big...a home loan, re-fi...it doesnt always look great if you have a ton of credit inquiries on your credit report.
And yes, its not the great if you have a bunch of credit available to you....even if you do have a history of paying it off. I am not talking like 2 major credit cards and 2 store cards. I am talking a ton of credit cards. Lenders generally dont like to see that you have all that credit available to you (at least, this is what we were told when we bought our second house....we had a ton of credit cards that we havent used for years, but they had HIGH limits b/c of our income. So we cancelled all of our store cards and left ourself with one major CC and one store card. When we bought this last house, our credit score had gone up and we hadnt paid any more debt off, so :dunno: )

That's the way I understand it. I know my card has already been issued so as soon as I get it I'll post back if the $50 has any strings to it (ie you have to buy $100 to get $50 off or something like that).

Let's see if I can explain this... it barely makes sense to me, so I'm not sure I can. :lol:

The emails went out with 3 different offers - one for $50, one for $25 and one for $10. When you click on the link in the email, it takes you to the webpage for that offer (each email had a different page linked to it). However, ALL of the pages you get to by clicking on the email links mention the $10 offer, NOT the $50 or $25. Apparantly, they used the same text on the page for each offer. :rolleyes: But since the pages' addresses are different, they know which offer you're accepting by the page you enroll from. Does that make sense? That's basically how it was explained at GR. So anyway, if you click the link I posted above, you'll be accepting the $50 offer, eventhough, when you get to the page, it will say $10. Or, anyway, that's what the folks at GR said that the Gymbo CS people told them. (Seriously... this is like a game of telephone! :lol: ) My application was approved and I should be getting my card in the next few days, so I'll let you guys know if it worked they way it's supposed to!

Did that happen to you too? I caved in and applied at 1 a.m on Saturday and it said it couldn't approve me. :wtf: I was so freaked out about it. So I ordered all my credit reports today and my score is really good. I couldn't figure out how to get that online verification so I guess I'll just have to wait for a letter in the mail?

I was freaked out about not being approved (because we've never been denied! we may have a lot of debt, but we do have good credit!), but maybe they just couldnt do an instant approval. I know when I worked retail, sometimes whatever they use was busy or down or they needed an extra bit of info :dunno:

When I tried to get a login for that online verification, it told me all my information had been erased. So I don't really even know I my application went through!

I applied also, and got the same message....it said I can check the next business day, so I will check tomorrow. $50 is $50, but I would probably use the $50 and then cancel.

I had that happen to me with my Disney Visa. No instant verification. I was really worried something had gone wrong or someone had hijacked the information. I called up when I hadn't rec'd my card in a week and they stating it was in the mail. I got it a few days later. :up:

OMG!!! Karri, I'm so sorry. That's just what it said on GR - I still haven't gotten mine (no card, no check, NOTHING... starting to worry, actually!) so I don't know if they did that to me or not. Grr! I wonder if there is a way to check what is going on with my card - I'm seriously starting to worry that it's not here yet. I am also supposed to be getting a new debit card for my new checking account, and that's not here yet, either, so I'm slightly freaking out...
