This is the OUAL chapter of Gymboholics (not so) Anonymous. Let’s explore and understand our addictions. Not to take away from Colleen's thread but seeing that the Gymboree thread has more than 5,000 views already, I think we can all come in here for some support and counseling  Don’t count on a 12-step process, I don’t think any of us wants to get "sobered" up as of yet.

Let's start with...

My name is ______, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started?

What was your first impression of Gymboree?

How often do you go to the Gymboree store?

How often do you visit the website?

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent?

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix?

Does your spouse support your addiction?

Do you have other family members that support your addiction?

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo?

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?)

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption?

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?

Have there been lines that you regret buying?

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of?

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change?

Feel free to confess anything else.

We all feel your pain…..

Thank you for sharing!

Well, I might as well do this now since I can't sleep.

My name is _Eva_____, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started? Last year when I learned about gymbucks, all their sales and realized it was affordable.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Loved the clothes but thought it was too pricey.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? every 2 months or so. It is not too far but we don't go that way that often.

How often do you visit the website? Probably every few days.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymborebel, Baby Bargain Boards and a Canadian Gymboree Moms loopie

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? ebay lately but usual I am fine. Not that much of an addict yet. :)

Does your spouse support your addiction? Yes, his hobbies are more expensive.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? They don't reall know about it.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Can't think of the best.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Gone in early and stood in line at the cash for over an hour on the first day of redemption period.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) I have been good and haven't gotten any gymbuck for the last 2 periods but am going to get some tomorrow.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? 2. I have never had more.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? Yes, I wasn't fond of Lemony Fresh last year but have now changed my mind and now am buying it on ebay. No, it hasn't made me paranoid about it.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? No

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Splash, Strawberry Patch and Jardin Francais

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? More hooked

My name is _Jenn_____, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started? My addiction got worse when I started working there but I've loved their clothes since I was pregnant with Peyton.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Loved the clothes but thought it was too pricey.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? At least once a week since that's how often I work.

How often do you visit the website? Maybe once or twice a week.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymborebel, gymbohaven

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Well, since I'm an employee, I always get at least 40% off. :awink:

Does your spouse support your addiction? Somewhat. He gets annoyed but thinks the girls look cute in the clothes.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Yep, my mom.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Probably getting all of those clothes in excellent used condition from one of my managers. I have a ton of last years line for Peyton now.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? I don't think I've ever done anything crazy. Actually, getting a job there for the discount was kind of crazy, especially since things go to 40% off pretty quickly now. I don't really need the job to get that much of a discount anymore so that kind of bugs me.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) Employees can't earn gymbucks. :(

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? N/A

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? Not yet but I have a feeling that I might regret not buying any Dandelion Wishes.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Not yet.

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Not yet.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? No change for me but I have been on the wagon since my last huge purchase. I'm itching to buy something but am being good. I'm just living vicarioulsy through everyone's purchases here.

My name is Colette and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? Friends bought me gifts when my children were born. Then I realized there was a method to getting everything on sale. It's crazy, but somehow I've succumbed to Gymbo's brainwashing.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Expensive but I loved the clothes!

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? A few times a month, depending on the season. (I usually buy something then it goes on sale and I need to go in for a PA  ) I have one less than 5 minutes from work, so I go shopping a lot during my 1hour lunch.

How often do you visit the website? More frequently when a new line comes out, or I'm searching for a sale.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymbohaven, Gymborebels and 2 Yahoo Loops.

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Browsing e-bay.

Does your spouse support your addiction? He could care less. My IL's are always giving $ for the kids clothes, so I spend most of that!

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Nope, I don't think they know.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. I think they've all been about the same.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Bought something because I really wanted it at full price, then went back and returned it when it went on sale. I wanted to make sure I had the size I needed. :)

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) Sometimes. I bought stuff now because I wanted more TL and I happened to get a Gymbuck. :)

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? Not many. I'm waiting for the summer lines. I went to the store this past week and didn't care for the new lines too much.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Nope

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Yes, Golf Pond and Splash!

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? Probably more hooked, because I see kids dressed in their clothes and the look much cuter on that in just a picture.

Feel free to confess anything else.

My name is _Karri_____, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started? I've always shopped at Gymbo, but only on the clearance racks. I was never too fond of their boys stuff, but always admired the girls stuff. Once I had a girl, I bought a bunch of stuff off my girlfriend and my addiction truly got started. OUAL made it 100% worse.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Loved the clothes but thought it was too pricey. Boys clothes are kinda baby-ish.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? About once a month.

How often do you visit the website? About once a week. But I dont shop off the web.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymborebel, gymbohaven

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Ebay, swap.

Does your spouse support your addiction? Somewhat. He is 100% annoyed by my shopping addiction and thinks its sick. But he is somewhat ok w/ Gymbo, since he's seen firsthand how much I can resell it for.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? My mom willhelp me out at times

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. When Norah was still a newborn, I scored on a $9.99 sale. I got dresses from Garden Dreams, Tick Tock Ticking, and then I scored an outfit (non-$9.99) from Whale Watching. and I even bought the boys matching shirts (cant remember the line -they have hula girls on them  ) I generally dont buy a lot in one trip.

My best scores have been from my IRL friend, Stacy. I bought almost the entire Cherries line, some Flower Power, Victorian Dreams, and something else I cant recall, and a bunch of NWT short sleeve onesies off of her.
I also bought a ton of Bon Voyage off Anne! YAY!

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? I don't think I've ever done anything crazy.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) No.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption?

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? I didnt like Sweet Cupcake and now that I have some pieces, I think its a really cute line!!!
I wasnt sure about GWL, and then my store got rid of it  so I had my mom scramble to another store to get some for me. Then I was sure I needed it

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Not yet.

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Tick Tock Ticking

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? More hooked, by far! I see pics o how the kids look in the outfits and it makes me want them more!!!!!

My name is Jillian, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? Umm...I had a baby?

What was your first impression of Gymboree? I've always liked it, my mom babysat for 2 cute kids (who are now a freshman in high school and a 2nd grader) who basically wore nothing but gymboree and I even liked it then (though, I have all of their used clothes and I have to say I'd never put my daughter in the gymbo stuff from 12 years ago...wow, styles change!).

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? About once a week, but we only buy things like once or twice a month.

How often do you visit the website? umm...a lot...

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? I've been to gymbohaven and gymborebel

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? e-bay

Does your spouse support your addiction? eh, he likes the clothes a lot...but he doesn't really care if I get them from gymbo, walmart, or lord and taylor as long as they are cute. He's pretty picky about what he thinks is cute though, I have to run everything past him first for the most part.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? No, our families think gymbo clothes are way to expensive.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Probably just last weekend, the Outlet was having a HUGE sale and had everything marked down to 9.99...I bough a lot of stuff.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Nothing...

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) I buy things during gymbucks earning, but not just so I can get gymbucks.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I have 2 now and would like 1 more, which I plan on getting either tuesday or friday when I'm at the mall.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? umm, not that I can think of. But, I didn't find out janelle could keep up gymbo pants till just recently (a friend gave us an old outfit and it fit!) so now I've been going on e-bay and buying the stuff from pat lines that I liked but never bought cause I didn't think she could wear them.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? no

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Yes, fox trot.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? no change.

Feel free to confess anything else. I won 4 gymbo auctions this week. Some icecream capri's and a t-shirt from rainbow sherbet, sunshine day dreams orange dot biker shorts, orange tank and orange dot hair bows, 2 pairs of biker shorts, 2 tanks, and a halter from fruit punch, and the blue bunny story sweater. I need to get the pink one too...

How did your addiction get started?
I shopped at Gymboree from time to time but never really paid much attention to the lines and all the sales gimmicks. I would just go in and look at the clearance rack, maybe buy a few things and then walk back out. Then during the Spring of 2004, Lauryn started preschool soon after she turned 2 and I wanted to finally get her some really good clothes (she stayed home prior so I couldn’t justify it plus my sister would buy her tons of stuff from overseas). I bought a few pieces of Tip Toe at the store and just loved the outfits but wasn't totally hooked yet. During the fall, I went online and was so surprised that the sales were really good so I bought enough to get me 4 Gymbucks (I still didn’t even pay attention to the lines and I wondered how I could possibly use 4 Gymbucks) Then the Fall 2004 lines came out and OMG, I just fell in love with just about everything I saw! :love3:

What was your first impression of Gymboree?
I've actually had Gymbucks expire before because I'd go in the store and think that everything was so gaudy and expensive. (yeah, what was I thinking?):dunno:

How often do you go to the Gymboree store?
I'd have to make a special trip when there's a special event. So I'd say not very often-even though I've got a tier 1 store less than a mile from my house!

How often do you visit the website?
Very frequently

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent?
I've been using Gymbohaven for a while and I just got a login at Gymborebel. I also go to the BBB.

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix?
Ebay! I ended up buying a few things when the new lines came out and nothing was calling me.

Does your spouse support your addiction?
Luckily, yes. He loves seeing Lauryn in cute clothes. I don't really have to hide things I buy. We use an American Express card that he monitors and pays so he knows better how much I spend than I do. He does say “you have a problem” when he sees me surfing the other gymbo sites. I show him all the stuff at gymbohaven. Then yesterday he said that I’ve talked about the Gymbucks for the 29th time this week. He shakes his head, rolls his eyes, but at the end of it all, he says he loves seeing me happy. :love1:

Do you have other family members that support your addiction?
My mom is such an instigator. Sometimes I don't like to take her shopping with me because I tend to spend more money.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience.
Gymbucks redemption in the Fall. I had them hold my picks the night before. I went online and planned out everything else that I wanted to buy. I even copied all the jpegs so I could show DH all the combinations. Then the next morning, I dropped Lauryn off at her school and then waited for the store to open (I've never waited for any store to open before). When they let people in, the store looked so beautiful- everything was neatly folded so well-stocked. I discovered the magic of Gymbucks that day and I just felt high! :supergrin Then I went to work late.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo?
I've bought BIN NWT at ebay for more than the retail price. (I kept losing on bids and got really tired of it!)

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) I’ve been buying gifts at Gymbo so I can get Gymbucks for the summer lines.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I’m hoping to have at least 4, I’ve got 3 so far.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?
Yes! I didn’t buy any CAAB pieces and ended up getting the orange dress off the clearance rack. Then you know how it goes, I went on a mad spree on ebay- had to find the tights that matched the dress and then the sweater to match the tights and then another pair of pants to match the sweater.

So yes, I’m a little paranoid now because these clothes just have a tendency to grow on you even when you don’t like them at first—why oh why does it do that? When the Spring lines came out, I couldn’t find much to buy with my 3 Gymbucks so I ended up buying stuff for gifts. I looked at WFF really hard until it somewhat grew on me so I think I ended up getting a dress, a hoodie, a shirt and capris. I'm not in love with it but I'm just afraid that I'd love it after it goes away. DH says I have a problem. They're just clothes, really, just clothes...

Have there been lines that you regret buying? No

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Whale Watching- but that was pre-Gymboree for me. I did get a sweater from ebay so now I have to hunt for other things to go with it.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? Definitely more hooked. I think I get more interested in things I would not have been so interested in if I didn’t have girlfriends like you cheering me on!

Feel free to confess anything else.
So my mom and I went to Gymbo last Saturday and she looked through the sale racks and found a SF dress for 9.99. I wasn’t really planning on buying anything else but I *needed* a Gymbuck to make the trip worthwhile. So what do I do? I buy a GC skirt and the fur-collared pink cardigan and some bubbles just to make sure I make it over the $50 mark. I’ve been wanting the GC striped velour pants but kept talking myself out of it. Well, they didn’t have it so now since I have the cardigan, I’m going to find myself looking at ebay again and the vicious cycle begins. SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!!! :help2:

Colleen
February 15th, 2005, 10:58 AM
My name is Colleen and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? I worked at Gymbo back in college (think 1991-1994) and thought the clothes were cute and well made. However, it wasn't until the summer of 2003 when I stopped in and saw the Indian Summer line, and started cruising the sale racks.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Cute, well made clothes.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? Obviously when I work, and whenever I'm at the mall, I always stop in

How often do you visit the website? Usually every day for some reason or another.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymborebel, Gymbohaven (for line ID's,) and 2 yahoo loops.

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Ebay, or the loops. Plus, sometimes, just working helps.

Does your spouse support your addiction? Surprisingly, yes. Before I worked there, I always bought on sale, and then I sell everything when I'm done with it. He likes that. Occasionally, he's told me to go buy a new outfit for the girls when we have someplace special to go.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? The family is wising up and getting me gift certificates.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Last summer, one of my area stores got a whole bunch of SSD in from another store, and there was a % off sale going on. I scored a lot of stuff from that line, and earned gymbucks too!

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? My IL's travel a lot, so when they go to a city that has a Tier 1 or 2, I have them "traffic" Gymbo back for me.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?)When I used to be able to earn GB's, I'd use the online shopping cart to my advantage. I'd put items in there and figure things out to the dollar. If I had say, 4 gymbucks, I'd try to get as close to $200 pretax that I could. In fact, the last time I redeemed them (on SFF) I spent $200.78. Not bad. Especaially when she took that $100 off.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I can't earn them or redeem them anymore.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? If there is a piece or 2 I love so much, I have to have it, then I'll buy it. I don't get paranoid anymore, simply bacause with them cranking out so many lines, I know I'll like something else down the road.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Not lines necesarily, but outfits I regret and they don't wear them as much.

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Puppy Love, Sweet Cupcake, Strawberry Patch.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? No change in my addiction, and it's nice to see other people getting sucked in.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? No change in my addiction, and it's nice to see other people getting sucked in.
i just want to blame colleen for my current status as a gymbo-bimbo

My name is kim, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started?
hmm...i can't pinpoint it exactly...julie did send me a JF outfit before i had gianna....then i got a COF card from Jenn....the COF really got me rolling that's for sure.

What was your first impression of Gymboree?
i first went in after i had tony and disliked the boys clothes. plus they were really expensive. i did not set foot in a store again until after i had gianna.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store?
depends. if there is a 25% off sale i will try to hit 2 stores in one weekend (i have 5 within an hour of me). i have only been once this month since i'm in 'self inflicted gymbo exile' ....ok, so not really exile since i did buy things on sunday

How often do you visit the website?
not very often. just to check out the new lines recently.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent?
GR, GH, and i'm on one loop.

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix?
trolling ebay is a new hobby.

Does your spouse support your addiction?
i wouldn't say support. but he hasn't given me a smackdown yet. it helps that i show him everything, making sure to point out the full retail vs. what i actually paid

Do you have other family members that support your addiction?
i got my evil mil to give the kids a $200 gift card for xmas

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience.
i cleaned up during the RHDS, got a lot of summer stuff cheap. for some reason my closest store had a buttload of summer stuff in december!

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo?
nothing crazy. yet.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?)
i have my first gymbuck right now! and no, i didn't buy just to get the gymbuck. i will admit i did not do all that well to get it, i spent $54...a smart person would have spent as close to $50 as possible but i think i'll live.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption?
if there is a 25% off sale this weekend i might drop another $50 cuz there are a few things i want.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?
i'm too new to gymbo for this to apply.

Have there been lines that you regret buying?
see above

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of?
see above

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change?
hmm...maybe more hooked. i think when you join a group of like minded people you tend to feed off each other.

Feel free to confess anything else.
i'm hooked on naartjie too :blush1:

Kaari
February 15th, 2005, 02:08 PM
My name is Kaari, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? OUAL - I knew I should have stayed out of the Gymboree thread.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? I didn't really care for Gymboree clothes until recently. I couldn't figure out why people would spend so much money on them.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? Once a week probably

How often do you visit the website? A few times a week

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? GymboRebel and NameThatLine

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? eBay and GR

Does your spouse support your addiction? Hmmm... not really, but he loves seeing the cute outfits when the girls are wearing them. Also, he does like the fact that I will be selling some of the clothes soon.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? My mom - I'm teaching her all the tricks.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. I was using a Gymbuck that my mom had earned and a couple in the store gave me their Gymbuck.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Nothing really crazy unless you count the excessive eBay spending.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) I'm not too crazy about the current lines right now so I probably won't be earning any GB's unless there is a good sale this weekend.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I'll be lucky to have 1.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? I don't think so but then I haven't been a Gymboree fan long enough.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Nope

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Little Hula Girl, Lemony Fresh

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? Um, yes. These Gymbo threads have completely started a new addiction. I really didn't need a new addiction.

Feel free to confess anything else. We received Gymboree clothes as gifts in my pre-Gymboree days and never wore them. I really need to get organized and sell them.

Bonnie
February 15th, 2005, 03:54 PM
My name is Bonnie, and I'm a Gymboholic. (but I'm trying to recover  )

How did your addiction get started? I work near a huge mall, so I am a big shopper and in the fall of 2002, they just started coming out with some cute stuff that has continually gotten cuter and cuter. Also, I love how long the stuff fits and how well it lasts... Caroline can still wear the 18-24 month leggings and she will be 3 in June... She's potty trained, so losing the diaper really helps with the fit. It also means that the jeans and non-legging pants fall right off her :(

What was your first impression of Gymboree? I never liked it that much until after Caroline turned 1... there wasn't a lot that I liked and I thought the prices were inflated, but I would occasionally buy good sale things.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? At least once a week

How often do you visit the website? Also once a week

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? None. That would be too much for my shopping impluse

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Ebay

Does your spouse support your addiction? He thinks I'm insane, but he doesn't care...

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Nope

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Last fall I had 5 Gymbucks, so I went hog wild and they had a lot of stuff in bigger sizes for Caroline that she can wear when she is 3 and 4

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Can't think of anything

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) I don't now... I have 2 huge boxes of stuff in bigger sizes under my bed, so I really have started to limit myself.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I probably won't even bother this time due to my stockpile of stuff.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? Not really... I wasn't crazy about the zebra stuff at first, but ended up getting a ton of it on sale.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? No

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Before I got into stockpiling bigger sizes, there were some cute things, like whale watching, but I got some of that recently, including an adorable rain coat NWT on Ebay.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? Since I have so much, I have to be less hooked... I currently love a lot of the Dandelion Wishes, and got some cute stuff off Ebay NWT for Caroline in her current size, but I just have so much of it right now that it is hard to justify buying more, and I can justify almost anything!

Feel free to confess anything else. Now that I know you can look up the line names, I am going to have to go to one of those sites... Caroline's favorite pair of leggings is size 12-18 months and she still will squeeze herself into them... I must find them for her in 2T!!!

Also, I really hope this next baby is a boy... I don't care for their boy stuff and if I know there will be another girl to wear the stuff, I'll just buy more, and we have WAY too much!!!

My name is Amy, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? Colleen sucked me in by buying Alexis [her Goddaughter] an outfit from the Princess line........I too, am another victim of her evil Gymbo plot!

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? Once a month.

How often do you visit the website? At least once a week.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymbohaven, gymborebel

Does your spouse support your addiction? He doesn't really know....I hide a lot of my shopping

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Not really, my Mom prefers Carter's clothing for the girls.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Too new to this Gymbo thing, but was really happy when I stopped in the store and GWL was 40% off.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Tell Colleen to buy more for my girls!

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?)Not really, but if this addiction gets stronger, than maybe.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? 0

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?

Have there been lines that you regret buying? no

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Bubble Fun

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? More hooked than I was, but not obsessed

Feel free to confess anything else.

I have to join! I'm such a sucker for Gymbo.

My name is Kate, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? Gymbo is one of the few places I can get really cute boy's clothes.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? Expensive!

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? I try not to go more than once or twice a month. Depends on what sales/promotions are going on, though.

How often do you visit the website? Kind of a lot. Maybe every day or two. :blush1:

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? I've lurked at Gymbohaven, but I don't have enough eBay feedback to subscribe. :(

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? I go to the website and gaze at all the outfits I want to buy.

Does your spouse support your addiction? Begrudgingly.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? No, it's just me. I might see if I can get my SIL hooked, though....

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Nothing huge stands out, but I remember being wildly excited with the Sock Monkey line came out, because John's "signature toy" is a sock monkey, so I went nuts buying that stuff.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Not too crazy (maybe), but I requested that my farewell gift when I quit my job be a Gymbo gift card.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) Yes, somewhat.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I ended up with two, which was a good number.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? Umm...yes.

Have there been lines that you regret buying? No, not yet.

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Yes, believe it or not, the Sock Monkey line. The store closest to me is a Tier 3, and that was before I knew the significance of tiers, so they didn't carry the whole line. I didn't get the shirt I desperately wanted or the fleece hoodie.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? No change yet, since I just discovered them. Probably won't change much anyway, though, since I'm already pretty hooked.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo?

Ok, it's not something I did for gymbo...but it is crazy! Kincaid now owns the entire cutie pie line, I mean the entire thing(except shoes...but I may change that tonight), and a few of the things he has in 2 sizes so he can wear it this year and next year. He also has every item from the robo-shop sleep line...2 of the jammies he owns in 12-18, 18-24, and 2t, one pair of those he also has in 6-12...he even has the boxers and it will be probably 2-3 years before he will be wearing those!

oops, I ended up with 5.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I probably won't even bother this time due to my stockpile of stuff.

So much for that... I ended up with 3!! I think I blame the Gymbo thread and Gymborebel

How did your addiction get started?
Um, just after we were married I saw the Strawberry Fields line in Gymbo and I fell in love...and bought a pair of leggings!

What was your first impression of Gymboree?
Love it, love it, love it!

How often do you go to the Gymboree store?
Two or three times a week

How often do you visit the website?
Multiple times a day

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent?
Gymbohaven, Gymborebel, three Yahoo loops

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix?
Loops and eBay...but there is ALWAYS stuff onsale at Gymbo! Oh, and the local consignment store--I go there at least once a week to scout for Gymbo.

Does your spouse support your addiction?
Yes--although he does sometimes roll his eyes.

Do you have other family members that support your addiction?
My mom has started looking at consignment stores for Gymbo...and I've finally convinced her that I don't really want the vintage stuff.

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience.
Most recently I picked up the MPG long sleeve shirt for $2.50 (after Gymbucks)...we already have the overalls, sweater, and long sleeve romper.

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo?
Umm, you mean like copy all of the Spring Fun pictures onto my computer, print them out, and then play paperdolls as I figure out the outfits that I like the best?

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?)
I do strategize, but I never buy stuff just to get the Gymbucks. I also will ONLY buy sale items to earn Gymbucks.

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption?

Have there been lines that you didn't like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?
Yes, lines have sold out while I waited for good sale prices, but I keep trying to remind myself that it's only clothing.

Have there been lines that you regret buying?
Nope! I only buy lines that I love--and I often don't buy any of a line (like WFF--it's just not for us...orange isn't Katie's best color.)

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of?
YES!! Too many to count!

We all feel your pain…..

Thank you for sharing!

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Gymboholic

1. Gymboholic
Anyone who has small children and is addicted to the cute matching clothes at Gymboree. They think about it everyday and are mebers of Chat Forums and Yahoo groups dedicated to Gymboree clothing.
You know you're a Gymboholic when you have bought the same item twice, b/c it was a good deal, but forgot you already had that piece in the storage bin.

2. Gymboholic
They also look for it on TV, in magazines and on other children wearing it. They identify lines from the current to the vintage, naming them in their heads and remember when their small child wore that outfit or one similar. They buy up to 3 years ahead "because it's so cute!!"
You know you're a Gymboholic when you do not like a line initially but then, after seeing it on other children, you buy 2/3 of the entire line including all the accessories.

My name is Ashley, and I'm a Gymboholic.

How did your addiction get started? Well...I believe it started while i was shopping one day and seen the sign and went in b/c it was the only store in the mall i never stepped foot in.

What was your first impression of Gymboree? These people are crazy for paying 30.00 for jeans that our children will outgrow in 2 weeks my exact thought!

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? I go one to three times a month depending on how much money i have saved.

How often do you visit the website? Every 2 days maybe checking on pricing etc.

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymbohaven, gymboree sites were we we buy sell and trade our used clothing.

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? I get on ebay and search my daughters size to find the cheapest deal like an outfit for 1.99 and shipping of 2.99 IT HAPPENS!

Does your spouse support your addiction? HE HAS NO IDEA. Well i know he knows i like it b/c i talk about it a lot but i dont ever pay full price i wait till its on sale or used we cant afford to spend 300.00 a week like a lot of people. So i just buy what i really like and she will be able to wear for a while. We do not have ANY credit cards debit cards or anything and i want a gymbo card :tantrum: but i guess thats good im not in debt and have some control over my habit??
Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Well my sister in law knows i like and she did go by her an outfit she is jsut as bad as me at times if something is cute or wahtever she buys it but im bad about going through a big list will this go w/this is there shoes and everything to match usually i dont buy it but she will buy it w/out hesitating! everyone else thinks im crazy

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. Well i went crazy searching gymbohaven and seen a line called giraffe club OMG i thought it was the greatest thing id ever seen. So i was on ebay all day everyday looking for things so know ive got all the pieces ive wanted now its just time to get rid of them. Oh and buying the palm springs stuf fi wanted and go a good deal on thanks to my 25% off shopper!

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? I dont thing ive dont anything to crazy but hello im on this site lol i guess searching for the stuff all the time all hours of the day and nihgt or driving 30 minutes to closest store then having to come all the way back to make a return to get the things i had on hold.

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) IVE NEVER HAD ANY GYMBUCKS :dunno: LIke i said i dont spend 50.00 when i go in there usually i buy one or two things that are clearanced. Ive only been into this gymbo thing for a couple of months. But i would love to have one gymbuck for this redemption period since i konw how to use them now.
How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I would be happy w/one since ive never had one

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out? No it takes a lot to catch my eye and get my attention. the most recent lines i love is palm springs and prep club i DO NOT like the bohemian line i dont plan on buying anything from that line i may by one thing from the daisy chain line I dont worry now if they dont have the size they dont have it i look at this way it will save my money for something nicer i want!

OMG I've never seen this before!!!

My name is Alyson, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started? When I was pregnant!

What was your first impression of Gymboree? I've always liked Gymboree, even back 5 years ago or so when I was buying for friends and families kids.

How often do you go to the Gymboree store? Unfortunately only 1-2 times a month, we don't have one closer than about an hour away!

How often do you visit the website? Almost daily!

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymboanonymous (msn group), a yahoo Gymbo group and here, I think that's it?!

When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? EBAY!!! ..mostly!

Does your spouse support your addiction? He doesn't care...

Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Yup! Mostly my dad, and also some from my mom! Although my mom is good at buying Gap stuff, so I'm ok with that too!

Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. In Jan or Feb.. we were in there one night and it was late and the 3 girls were being so cool and helping me find stuff and talking to us and Brookelyn.. and then we ran into them at Claim Jumper!! lol

What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? Umm.. I guess used my own gift card from Xmas to buy some stuff, cause I'd promised DH I'd have a 'gymbo' free week.. and I couldn't resist!

Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) In a way, I usually go online and figure out what I'm going to get using my gymbucks and have an idea so that I walk into the store knowing.... And I always try to set a $ limit for myself before we get into the store so that I don't get rediculous!

How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? 4 would be ideal.. but I'll take more :)

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?
Rocky Mountain. I liked it, but wasn't thrilled.. and then I kept seeing it on here and on kids around us and kept wanting more. I'll probably start buying for next winter soon! There are certain lines that I buy alot of, if I really like them!

Have there been lines that you regret buying? Hmm.. not really, but I do regret that I always buy too many white shirts for my 2 year old :noqueno: !!!! But they're sooo cute!!

Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? lol every line that I've liked! No but really, um I wish I'd bought a ton more and in the next size up of Bonjour Provence, Golf Pond, Romantic Garden, Tropical Paradise and Fox Trot.

How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? I'm going crazy!! lol no, but I have been a bit stressed because Brookelyn has been so sick and this is redemption week and I'm an hour from a store and everything is selling out online!!!!... I'm hooked, more than I should be! But, at least it's cheaper than Baby Lulu, that's what DH says!

Feel free to confess anything else.

My name is Bonnie, and I'm a Gymboholic.

(and then feel free to answer any or all the questions)

How did your addiction get started? When my daughter, Isabelle, was close to a year, I went in and found some items from Grown With Love on clearance and since then, I've been hooked!!
What was your first impression of Gymboree? That it was WAY to expensive. I was in a store one day, the first day of Gymbucks redemption (at the time didn't know what that was) and saw these totals reaching $300+ and thought that these people were crazy!!
How often do you go to the Gymboree store? I problably go to a store 3-4 times a month
How often do you visit the website? A Couple times a day

What other Gymbo-related websites do you frequent? Gymbohaven and here.
When there are no sales, how do you get your gymbo fix? Usually, like most others here, Ebay.
Does your spouse support your addiction? He doesn't really keep track. He doesn't know how much the clothes sell for full price, but I never buy full price so that doesn't matter.
Do you have other family members that support your addiction? Yes, my Mom always splits her gifts (b-day, x-mas, easter, etc) into some toys, some clothes and she always comes with me to Gymbo. She is just as bad as I am though. She will say "I'm going to spend this much" and then she sees the stuff and says, "Well, I can actually increase it to this much!"
Describe your best Gymboree shopping experience. I believe that it was September of last year, they were offering $25 bonus dollars and 25% off of everything if you applied for the Gymbo Visa. I scored some big time savings on that trip!!
What is the craziest thing you've done for Gymbo? I don't think that I have done anything crazy, but I will sock cash away if I don't spend it on normal day to day things, so that I can have a big shopping trip at Gymbo
Do you strategize for the next big event (like Gymbucks redemption etc.- Are you buying stuff now only to get the Gymbucks?) Totally, I try to come up with game plans on how I can save the most, get the most for my dollar. Like, I have just redeemed online all of my Gymbucks. Then just last night, I went to a store to see if they had a specific outfit from Prep Club in stock (which they did...yea!) and saw the Sweet Shop line for Newborns. Totally cuter in person then online. So know I know what I will be buying with my 25% Rise and Shine coupon come April.
How many Gymbucks would you say you’d want to have for the next big redemption? I had 4 this time. I have had as many as 7, but I think that 4 is ideal for me.

Have there been lines that you didn’t like at first and then ended up wanting after they all sold out at the stores? Does that make you paranoid and want to buy so much the next time a new line comes out?
Not really, if I don't like something, then I pretty much don't like it. I only bought a couple of items from Prima Ballerina because there is something that I really don't like about little girls in black.
Have there been lines that you regret buying? Not any specific lines but I am trying to not buy so many jeans/denim capris. Isabelle always ends up with a drawer full of jeans.
Have there been lines that you regret not buying enough of? Aloha Wahine. I wasn't sure about it, so only bought one outfit. Now I see it on Ebay and think it is soooo cute.
How have these Gymbo threads affected your state of mind? Are you getting more hooked? Or less hooked? Or no change? I just enjoy reading stuff from others who like Gymbo just as much as I do.
