I think I'm going to have to drop a class this semester. It's biology, but an online course (w/ saturday labs) and I am just so confused. I would rather drop it than get a bad grade (i'm a 3.8 student). Does a big ole W for withdrawal on your transcript look bad? Am I thinking it's a bigger deal than it really is? I've never dropped one before so this is new to me. I

I don't think it's a big deal. I dropped a few classes while getting my bachelor's degree for the same reason.

Definitely take the W! I am teaching adjunct for a local college right now and I would much rather have a student take a W than assign an F. The F would stay on your transcript and then if you repeated the class, it would have a note next to it saying repeated with a grade of X. I have a W on my transcript from undergrad - I was taking a class that I didn't need as an elective and I hated it. Nobody has ever asked me why I took a W, etc.

 I am completely agree with the others! I should have done that with several classes back in my early days of college and I really paid for not doing it!
