Rather than make a million threads, I thought I would do a general thread.

So...fess up...who here likes the boutique brands? I gotta stay away....I can't control myself around some of them. When I worked at Marshall Fields I think I singlehandedly boosted the sales of Icky Baby

What are your favorite brands?

I'll admit, I have a weak spot for Baby Rhinos (Painting Rad Rhinos)....I just love their patterns on their fabrics! Too darling!

I also love Icky Baby (as I said before) and Baby Lulu. Some of the Pepper Toes stuff is cute, too.

I love the icky baby lounge sets, janelle has a sushi one, caid has a cowboy one and one that has blue camo pants and then the t-shirt says dawn patrol.

I like some baby lulu... In fact I just ordered Janelle a baby lulu dress from the ribbon rose line which will hopefully be here in time for her to wear to her daddy daughter dance on saturday (we didn't find out till last thursday night that this dance is "semi-formal" the cute baby gap heart dress we had gotten her wasn't going to cut it).

I'm in love with a little mass dress for Easter, but since it retails for like $85 and it is going on e-bay for over $50 we aren't getting it, maybe for next year.

I have in the past liked some psketti stuff, but some of it is down right ugly...

I don't really know of anything else as I try to stick to much cheaper clothing for kids who are just going to get it dirty.

I like the diapers that are made with prr fabrics, does that count? We just got a muttaquins fitted diaper with prr icecream social fabric, it's so cute.

I like Absorba. I seem to find that brand at Winners (Canadian equivalent to TJ MAXX). They are cute and good quality. I also like Kaboo. Emma has 2 swimsuits of that brand and they are adorable.

I have been admiring Baby Lulu online. I love some of their clothes but find others too busy. I tried to win a Baby Lulu dress on Ebay last week but was outbid in the last 10 seconds. :( Other brands I have been admiring online are Le Top and Catamini. I also like Deux Par Deux which is in most of the boutiques around here.

ETA: Baby Nay is also adorable.

Jillian --Elliott has 'Dawn Patrol' as well  Very appropriate

Eva - I agree...Absorba is very cute :aok: Their spring line has some really cute stuff in it!

I love Baby Lulu, and I really like a few French brands I've found - Du Pariel Au Meme (I think I spelled that right...) and Dipaki. My favorite jammies that Katie has ever had were Goodnight Lulu (by Baby Lulu). They were princess and frog print, with *I want a prince!* all over them... They were spendy, but sooooo worth it. I wish I'd taken a picture of her in them. They're too small now, but I guess I could put them on her one last time - they'd just look like capris...

It's Du Pareil Au Meme. I love their clothes, too.
My kids closets are filled with German, French and Dutch brands.
My favorite ones are Pampolina, Toff Togs, Whoopi. Catimini, Trois Pommes, Marese, Naf Naf, Oilily and Cakewalk. Deux par Deux from Canada makes great colorful clothes.
Luckily, there is a great second hand store in my hometown or I'd be in a lot of trouble.

I loooooooove Oilily. However, my wallet does not  Shoot....even when their shoes were on clearance and with my discount, they were still $70. *gulp* The first time I stepped through their doors in chicago, I fell in love. Then I looked at a pricetag and just about pooped my pants

Unfortunately, the upscale secondhand store in my town just shut its doors, so all I have left is ebay.

:lol2: My sentiments exactely. I can only buy a few pieces here and there. On e-nay, the price-bidding wars are so tough here. You might like Toff Togs. Would you believe it that there is something that costs more than Oilily...Toff Togs. http://www.tofftogs.de/

Those clothes are GORGEOUS, Silke. OMG. I cant justify it now, but definately once Norah stops growing so quickly! Like once she's in preschool or something

Karri
February 10th, 2005, 02:39 PM
that you have boys :lol2:
Seriously......I didnt really give much thought to them til I had a girl. Because a lot of the boy stuff is, um, feminine

sabrina
February 10th, 2005, 06:47 PM
I don't know if this is really considered boutique or not but I like strasburg children. www.strasburgchildren.com (http://www.strasburgchildren.com)

We do have an outlet that is close to us and their prices for the same season stuff in the catalog or on line is 25% cheaper. I also take a look at the clearance racks when I am there and have found some very cute stuff on sale.

That is my favorite brand. It is so playful. Unfortunately, they don't sell it in the States. I have quite a few sewing magazines that mimick that style and Oilily/Cakewalk. They are in German though. Do you sew? This ios one of the magazine that is fiinally avaible per subscription..also in English. http://www.ottobredesign.com/

In regards to the boy clothes, European brands for little boys are very playful. Unfortunately, once they get older, the clothes are all sooo boring. Sigh, I want another girl. If you ask my DH I am just as clothes-obsessed with my son as with my daughter.

Jillian
February 12th, 2005, 05:54 PM
Janelle and DH just left for their big date, but here is what she is wearing.

http://www.jocose.net/dance/dance2.jpg

It's from baby lulu's ribbon rose line, it's a square neck dress, or something like that. If we have a cooler september maybe she'll be able to wear it to the renaiscance festival. I probably should of gotten a smaller size, but geesh, I have a rule about buying 6-12 month clothes for my 2 1/2 year old daughter.

I only have a little girl and still haven't heard of any of them! I've heard of Baby Lulu, but actually don't like it - I think those big overblown flowers look like dining room wallpaper! :dunno:

absorba is boutique? i had no idea. my mom gets me absorba from marshalls all the time. cheap.

Karri
February 13th, 2005, 01:42 PM
Jillian --that is really cute. It looks like it fits her pretty well (not like she's drowning in it).

Kim --I think Absorba is more top-of-the-line layette than it is boutique (though you can find it at boutiques). Its sold in better dept. stores and finds its way to the discount stores like Marshalls & TJ Maxx when the other stores dont sell it all b/c its too pricey and never gets marked down low enough  It sure is cute, though!

I LOVE BOUTIQUE CLOTHING! Really that is all Parker wears, well that and the clothes I make and Hanna Andersson. I just like the quality of the clothing so much better.

My friend had an online store that went out of business so she is having me sell all her inventory. I had tons of stuff from 6 months through size 14 girls. I still have about 100/150 pieces or so. Things have been crazy, but I will post a thread soon :) She said I could sell the items at 40-60% off the retail price :)

Of course there were like two boys things and mountains of girl's clothing. O' I wish I had a girl.

lauriebh
February 13th, 2005, 08:13 PM
I like Bailey Boys, Mulberry Street, Oilily, Anavini and Lilly Pulitzer - just to name a few! When I just had Katherine I could justify paying more because I though they might get worn again. Wth Brooks I don't really splurge on clothes. Boys are much less expensive to dress!

sabrina
February 15th, 2005, 08:48 AM
I am getting this dress for Emma to wear for easter. They are having a sale on their clearance stuff starting tomorrow. The sales person at the store allowed me to go through the clearance racks and pick out what I wanted and she is holding it and will ring it up tomorrow morning.

http://store1.yimg.com/I/strasburgchildren_1831_154426

I am getting it for around $57 which is great for a hand smocked dress. I got it in a 3year dress but it was very long on her so she will probably be able to wear it next spring and summer as well.

I love Pumpkin Patch... it is a New Zealand company and they sell it at Nordstroms... Cute, but pricey, but Nordies has good sales :)

Karri
February 16th, 2005, 02:09 PM
Bonnie - I love Pumpkin Patch, too!! The store I used to work at (just quit) sold it and they had this DARLING pair of pink/green camoflauge (butterfly camo!) cargo pants. OMG - I had to get them! The best part about their stuff is that its not even that expensive.

UH, I like Baby Lulu, Strasburg children, Florence Eiseman, Naartjie, Jacadi, Victoria kids, Burberry (they don't have many kids stuff though), ..... I have tons of hannas and I am trying to get my hands on Janie and Jack stuff (gymbo's dressy brand) and some more. But hey, my little one is 1 and now she wears more dressy stuff but between 1 and 6 months she wore carters almost exclusively (except for a gorgeous strasburg dress and bonnet for her baptism).
Noe tha I think of it I've spent a ton. Maybe I should resume shopping in a year (who am I kidding?)

wow Pumpkin patch is cheap over here in New Zealand,Tops are $30nzd and pants $30-$40nzd compared to Oilily at $200-300 nzd for a dress sometimes more! eeek!

I am really liking the daily tea collection from tea collection, though I like the boys stuff (I only have a girl) but it looks like she could wear it. I posted european brands that I like and their links on the other thread (european brands), but I am not having any luck finging kushies vendors in the US, anyone knows where to look?

Bridget
January 1st, 2006, 10:50 AM
I buy Tea Collection for Caleb at a local store... I haven't bought any of the girls stuff for Ahna yet.

I've browsed for Tea at a number of sites including the Tea website... but not familiar with Kushies?

mama
January 2nd, 2006, 07:18 PM
Kushies is a canadian brand (www.kushies.com (http://www.kushies.com)), but it is difficult to find the clothes in the US, you can only find a few things from past seasons.

mama

I'm also having problems finding toni tierney's collection in stores or the web. Maybe when they finish te website they'll add online shopping

Alyson
January 3rd, 2006, 12:18 AM
Mama - You can actually find Toni Tierney stuff at a ton of boutiques online. We've had a few things from her lines previously and were very happy with the outfits. There is actually quite a bit of her stuff available on the web too...

mama
January 6th, 2006, 04:04 AM
Alyson, can you give me any specific online strores I can look at? I haven't been able to find many clothes and the stuff on toni tierney's webpage looks adorable (but, as I said, I cannot find it anywhere. I thought of sending an e-mail directly to them)

Some natural parenting type co-ops will do a kushies co-op once or twice a year.

How does that exactly works? Is it for the clothes or the diapers?

Jillian

How does that exactly works? Is it for the clothes or the diapers?

Both.

the runner of the co-op will post the order list, you tell her what you want...but there will be rule, like she can't order it unless there are at least 3 of that item ordered or whatever, then she gets the order and ships it out to you. I've done haba, california baby, and challenge and fun co-ops through one place (that it is against the user agreement to tell anyone you don't know IRL about, sorry) and it has always worked really well!

Alyson
January 7th, 2006, 01:27 AM
right off the top of my head... www.tuttibella.com (http://www.tuttibella.com) I love this store online and IRL!!! They've got everything!..and great brands!!! I'll think of more later, in a hurry!

mama
January 7th, 2006, 11:06 PM
I've checked tuttibella, but their kushies page is always empty. Anyway, let me know if you can think of any other.

Well, I'm hooked on barefoot dreams collection. It is soooo soft. I bought a hoodie ad it was great though the stitching is not the best but I liked dressing my little one in soft clothes. Then I got a hooded towel, and when I received it I was skeptical about the absorbency (it was very soft anyway, so I kept it). Today I used it for the first time and it is so warm and soft (again) that I loved it (I hope my daugther loves it too) and I ordered her another one in a different color. Now, with all my newly acquired baby apparel adictions I am definitively broke, so I guess my next postings will be about things I see and don't buy.

Oh, well.

mama

Hey Jillian, not looking for the name... I just don't know exactly what a parenting co-op is...

If you buy in large quantities, like 10 of the same item, sellers can get a deal. A co-op is when a bunch of people get together and place one order so they can get the same pricing that a store gets.

mama
February 12th, 2006, 11:06 AM
I couldn't help it, but when I remebered that we have a wedding this august I got this dress for my daugther http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com/I/strasburgchildren_1880_6307753 (javascript:changeImg('imgmainimg0',imgmainimg0lar ge,document.getElementById('imgplaceholder'));)
Is green silk (darker than the picture). Very nice. I bougth a size 3 though my daugther will be only almost 2 by then, but I want it to last (it was quite expensive). Now I need to get her new dress shoes, tights, and a cardigan.

Buy the way I bougth the pink sheep bobux and the shark robeez. They are so cute!

I got my luna luna dress today. It is gorgeous.... but....it had a pinhole under one of the arm stichings. So I called and they told me it was the only one in that size so I could either return it or they were willing to give me a discount. I took the discount though I did a very crappy job of fixing it (and it is so small that I feel bad I don't know how to hold a needle).

Anyway, it is almost not noticeable (I know is there so my mind makes me look at that spot constantly). i made redo my work tomorrow if I feel more crafty or just let it as is (I doubt anyone would ever be able to tell but it drives me crazy).

Awesome customer service, great store I would say. They keep a not so high online inventory but you can always call them and ask them for whatever you are looking for. I am satisfied.

Regardless of the fact that many of you may hate this, I'd just love to get this for Caleb to wear on Easter. Since we don't go to church or do anything beyond the Easter egg hunt and family dinner though it's hard to justify ... although does going to church to wear it really make a better argument?

Anyway, he'd look so cute in it with some bucks and little dorky knee socks. :locolaugh

Has anyone heard of Tartine et Chocolat? One of the Korean students I tutor bought my daughter a hat from there, it was so cute! I don't think the stuff is too accessable though. They have a website but it doesn't look like you can order off it, and the stores are located mostly in France and around the world, the closest one might be Mexico, and I live in Canada. :blue:

I love boutique clothes so much, I started my own business selling kids clothes from infant to age 7. I have two little girls and now I just pull from my own racks and put it on my children! Don't think I'll make any money on this but I am having fun. Check out my website Kaboodle Kids (http://www.kaboodlekids.com), if you are interested in some cute clothes from South Africa.

I sorely wish there was another Sergent Major somewhere in the US besides just here in KC. I worship their stuff and have no one to share my joy. I got a major haul in there today for Caleb - like six pairs of jeans/pants for fall (they have very funky fabric, which I like) and about ten or twelve t-shirts, tanks and shorts for next summer. It was all like 60% off so the whole load cost $126!! (That included my customer loyalty bonus discount of $10. Go me!)

I'll have to take pictures of it.

I was such a good girly though. I didn't buy a single thing for Ahna!!! It's a miracle!!

I am having trouble finding their clothes (full line).

I'm not really into boutique clothing either, I usually just stick to Gymbo and stuff, but I think I came across this brand due to a seller selling this brand that I had already bought some Gymbo from and did a search. They are pricey as well, but I figured this outfit wasn't too bad and a girl has to have one special outfit right?

I just noticed this thread. :) My biggest loves are Gymbo, Hanna, Hilfiger, RL. ;) I also like shopping at CWD Kids and on Ebay for the boutique. I like Mulberry Bush, Hartstrings, Naartjie, Flapdoodles and a couple others I can't remember. I just buy stuff I happened to come along that's cute. I don't go out specifically looking for those brands but have seen cute stuff on Ebay. I love it when I can find cute hand painted dresses. I bought one from Africa once that was completely adorable! I hated it once my daughter grew out of it.

I recently bought a dress from Little Mass (by Le Pink), and it is pretty cute, though I prefer the fabrics from Strasbug Children. I wish they had those fabrics with more whimsical styles. (You can see the dress I bougth at http://littlefashionsboutique.com/p6203.html)

Anyway, I like Hanna, Baby Lulu, Barefoot Dreams, Strasburg, Clayeux, Eden's Bouquet, Eyespy, Jacadi, Luna Luna Copenhagen, Room Seven, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, and Tea.

I am trying to find good places to buy Tartine et chocolat, smitheman and barnwell, and Eloise and Etienne. So if you know of a good e-retailer, let me know (otherwise someplace near Denver)

I also like Bebemonde, though I didn't buy recently because I haven't seen their new collections in person, so I don't know what quality they offer, same goes for trish scully, victoria kids, kushies, etc.

Oh! And i like Carter's, cute, durable, and cheap!!!!

Mama, I think someone in an earlier post had a great link to Tartine et Chocolat.

As for Kushies, here in Canada I buy mine at the Baby's R Us division of Toys R Us -- which I think is also in the U.S., no?

Seeing all these other beautiful European lines is killing me! lol I'm just grateful that I don't love Oilily, because I certainly can't afford it. What I am currently drooling over is Jottum, which you can find on EBay. I also discovered a brand called Confetti, and Bourget, which is French, although they only seem to have larger kids sizes, at least that I've seen. I just cannot afford to dress my cutie in designer duds, much as it would be fun.

Wonder where all the rich and celebrated give their children's cast-offs to? I've seen one nanny from Britain selling her charge's old clothes on eBay, but so far that's it.

I love European brands. My favorites are Catimini, Clayeux, Jean Bourget, Marese and Berlingot. I recently fall in love with Saint James. They sell nautical themed outfits. I think European brands in general are more fashionable and better made. I'd like to try Pampolina but I have find a store that carries it yet.

I am trying to find an internet site that carries resale boutique clothing. I have found one such place Little Lavender, but they don't update their clothing very often. Anybody know any other websites that have quality boutique clothing such as LuLu, Greggy Girl, Hannah Kate, Kelly's Kids, Lilly Pulitzer and such. I have two girls, so super clearance and ebay are my best friends. I am new to the whole resale thing, but thought if I could find a good website I would give it a try.

Somehow I think you are rigth and for the most part the quality is better (though I am partial to this because I am european). what I miss mostly from European brands is the fun look. Usually the kids look beautiful and super well put together but we tend to dress kids up a little too serious, which is super nice, but sometimes you just need a silly colourfull dress. That's probably why I like Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, she has adorable dresses and sets with brigth colors (and also notebooks, pencils, etc.).

They have a great quality and a great look, not cheap usually. Baby Lulu and Hanna Andersson are perfect examples of fun clothes that you just have to have, and HA quality is pretty good especially for everyday wear, you can wash and wash, and wash, and once more, wash the clothes and they hold up pretty well.Though I doubt I would ever have bougth any of those back in Europe (because probably nobody else would)

Strasburg Children has a 15% off from Sept. 15th to the 30th.

The coupon code is something like LBRDAY06 or similar. I will look for it and post the rigth one as soon as I find the coupon. For in store purchases you need the actual coupon.

Begona I adore that Little Mass outfit. I've never allowed myself to bite that bullet. I buy so many kids clothes as it is :scan: that I'm scared to tip my scales too far. VERY cute though.

I haven't been in J&J in a month or so. I can't leave that place without dropping $100 and I've been trying to focus on stuff Caleb needs (and their recent boy stuff hasn't turned me on).

ITA with European brands having that fun look. And I just love to pair American basics with European fun to create the look.
Hanna is great too, but I refuse to pay their outrageous shipping! Lucky you to live close to one! And lucky me to live close to J&J :)
Also I discovered for myself http://www.dpam.com/Home.aspx.

Their shipping is high too, but I placed the order with a few of my friends, and it turned out not bad at all! The quality/price is VERY VERY GOOD!
