Does anyone have any work pet peeves (besides actully having to work  )? Co-workers that drive you nuts? They say that misery loves company...

There is one guy at work who calls me kid, and it bugs the crap out of me. Now granted he had kids my age, I'm guessing he is in his mid-60's, but still everytime he says it I want to throttle him.

My big one is people who don't understand that a cubicle is not an office - when you are talking loudly on the phone or to other coworkers, everyone can hear you.

Denise I agree with you completely. I have a cube office right now and the person next to me is constantly on the phone with personal business then once she gets off the phone she calls 5 other people to tell them what happened. After all of her phone calls are finally done she comes over into my space to tell me what happened. I have tried shutting the door but it doesn't seem to work....

Erica, there's a guy at my work that always calls me "kiddo." So annoying.

My biggest pet peeve with my job right now is that it seems like we're constantly "re-org"ing. :tearhair: Just when we get used to having our teams or department set up a certain way, someone comes along and decides that there's a better way. It has been happening on a yearly basis lately. :disbelief

I have 2 guys (at least) that call me kiddo. It makes me cringe  I guess it's better than the one guy that called me "toots" a couple weeks ago

My biggest pet peeve is the people that don't do their jobs right (2 entire departments here) and then they can't ever figure out why they can't find things or why things weren't done right. Well, if you weren't so retarded...

My other biggest pet peeve here is that it seems we are constantly hiring lately and I don't know 1/2 the people here anymore. It's pretty sad when you walk down the hall and Joe Blow walks past you and you don't know if he works here, is a customer or is a serial killer

My biggest pet peeve used to be when my boss would high five me  Finally, I told him that I was not an 18 year old boy and that I wasn't into the whole high-5-ing thing and I didn't say it too nicely, either

Another pet peeve is departments pawning their work onto others. Just because you have incompetent people who can't handle it, doesn't mean you give it to someone else. :complain:

I hate it when one of my co-workers whines to me about how much she hates her job, her life, etc. and starts crying at my desk. If you are so unhappy, do something about it! I'm sick of listening to her!

Another co-worker is constantly getting herself worked up and starts yelling, swearing and stomping around over things that just aren't that big a deal. It is really stressful to be around her!

This is why I am so glad my new job came with an office instead of a cubicle. At my old job, there was one guy who would yell and demean his wife over the phone. I thought it was a highly inappropirate conversation for others to hear and very disrespectful to his wife.

Another this that bugs me is all the finger pointing that goes on. If something goes wrong no one ever says "yeah, it was my fault, I'll deal with it" it's always "it wasn't me, it was you".

Well, that didn't seem to work and I didn't copy my post, but I do feel better, so thanks! :)

I used to work in an office with 1 other co-worker. (But other than that THAT job sucked...) Now I am in an open space and need to put on earphones with LOUD music to be able to concentrate at times. :silly:

I also work in a cubicle. My biggest pet peeve is people who listen to their voicemail on speaker phone! I hate this! Not only that, but they're trying to copy down the message, so they have to reverse it, listen to it again, then go through the whole menu to delete it and move on to the next message, and so forth. That drives me nuts!

Another pet peeve is when people don't clean up the conference room after they use it. We have a wireless mouse and people always leave it off the charger and the charge dies. And then people complain that the mouse is broken. I put a sign in there that says to put the mouse back on its cradle...you have to move the sign to get the mouse off the cradle, and people still forget to put it back.

Right now I'm doing some temp work for a bank. We work in this huge open area. Since we're doing data entry and the building is open for 3 different shifts, there is a lot of disinfecting going on because we use a different computer every day. But some of the workers don't get that their dissinfectant wipes STINK! They bring in these ridiculous scents like watermelon or cherry and the smell just lingers in the air. And let's not talk about all of the lotions and creams some of them are using! I don't find the scent of sweet pea or gardenia pleasing at all :puke:

There is also one woman (who really wants to be a man, but that's a different story!) who sprays cologne on herself after she goes out to smoke. After 3-4 smoke breaks the scent lingers in my nose and it gets SO annoying!

Is it union Lynn? You can go for a "scent-free" workplace through your Health & Safety committee.

Where do I start??

My current biggie is the door. I work in this hiddie hole thing where we have a door to gain acess to my 'secured' area. I usually like it shut, keeps the rif raff out, and besides, law requires it techinically to be shut. When people have to come in here for whatever reason, they open the door, come in and then leave, WITHOUT SHUTTING THE DOOR! FFS leave the door the way you found it! If it was open when you found it, leave it open. But if itwas closed when you walked in, for the love of god please shut it on your way back out. Why is this so hard a concept to grasp!?!

my lastest one is my new director calls me 'kimmy' :complain: i have never told him to call me that, and i don't even know him that well (i also haven't told him to knock it off either). the only other person at work who calls me that is one of the vp's (and i do know him well) i can only assume my name came up once between them :dunno:.

overdecorated cubes annoy the crap out me. i mean really, this is not your house! (fwiw i have not one personal item in my cube. in fact unless i'm actually there you'd think it was an empty cube. )

I really like my job most of the time. One thing that annoys me is working with people who do NOT like their job. People who complain, give excuses and pull others down are life sucking for me. I really try to stay away from them!

Oh this is a thread for me  My everyday life is filled with such wonderful office drama that it's stressful. So & so hates so & so and that person doesn't like another person ... and this is in an office of seven so it's personal. Some of them have worked together for over 13 years (and these are the ones who have problems with each other) so for the "newbies" like myself, it's frustrating. I just want to go & do a job, get paid & go home. Too "family" for my liking.

Hmm let's see. The people who complain about everything under the sun yet refuses to find another job.
The managers of other dept's who stick their nose into my business.
People who listen to conference calls on speaker phones. I work in a cubicle as well and I don't care what your call is about. Pick up the damn phone you lazy good for nothing!!!!!

Thank you! I feel better

Oh and let's not forget those who you ask a question and they don't want to answer because then you may succeed more than they will. Come on people. We are supposed to be a freaking team. We aren't in high school anymore!!! Get over yourself!
