View Full Version : Gap / Baby Gap
Lette February 7th, 2005, 04:38 PM Okay, one more..
What's your opinion on Gap clothes?
Price?
Quality?
Selection?
Anything else you'd like to add?
Jeni February 7th, 2005, 04:40 PM I LOVE Baby Gap clothes!
Lette February 7th, 2005, 04:40 PM I just HAD to buy this Valentine's shirt for my "mamma's boy" son!
I even paid FULL PRICE for it!
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5dc26b3127cce9fbba1c9b14d00000016108OYuHDVnQ (javascript:openSlideWin(1, '67b0de21b32850562596', 12);)
Karri February 7th, 2005, 04:52 PM Oh gosh --I gotta go get that tomorrow for Elliott
I love Gap. I have no problem paying full price for their stuff like denim. I typically wait to buy their stuff on sale, though. I have had absolutely no quality issues with ANY of their stuff and I especially love it for my boys. It holds up well...esp well considering its been through 2 boys! Oh - I love their fleece, too!
Barb February 7th, 2005, 04:56 PM I love Baby Gap!!! Itypically only buy stuff on sale, but I love to go in there and drool over how cute it all is.
Eva February 7th, 2005, 05:03 PM I like Baby Gap more for boys than for girls. If i had a boy i am sure I would shop there more. I seem to have more luck at Old Navy than gap not sure why. Occasional I will shop there but not that often.
Jayne February 7th, 2005, 05:51 PM I love gap. I used to buy Baby Gap for Tylor and now he is in BOY gap. I think the quality of the clothes is great and it lasts forever. I have saved All of Tylor's jeans and I put them on Alyssa for play jeans. Is it that noticable that they are boy jeans :dunno: but she doesn't care.
I don't buy a lot for Alyssa there. I am not sure why I just don't usually like their styles. I stick to Old Navy for her!
That on The Children's Place
Jayne
Hilary February 7th, 2005, 07:08 PM I love Baby Gap too, but I hardly ever buy clothes from there. My aunt has 3 girls and she must shop there a lot, because I've gotten a lot of Gap hand me downs. My favorite jacket of Madelynn's is Baby Gap.
Melissa February 7th, 2005, 07:34 PM I like Baby Gap more for boys than for girls. If i had a boy i am sure I would shop there more. I seem to have more luck at Old Navy than gap not sure why. Occasionally I will shop there but not that often.
I feel the exact same way. But I have no qualms about their quality.
AahRee February 7th, 2005, 09:02 PM I love Baby Gap, too. It's really cheap if you get it on sale, and even at full price, it's not TOO bad. My mom picked up the cutest V-day dress for Katie when she was here last month. I'll take a picture!
gulp! February 7th, 2005, 09:10 PM A big  to baby Gap! But I have to admit that I haven't bought anything there lately- just didn't see anything that I *had* to buy them!
Definitely like them best for boy clothes.
Oh, and I almost never pay full price, unless I have a gift cert. or I'm with MIL.
AahRee February 7th, 2005, 09:13 PM Here she is...
Karri February 7th, 2005, 10:09 PM That is SUPER cute, Anne!!! (and so is Katie! and she has gorgeous hair, too!)
I agree...I tend to like Baby Gap better for boys than girls, but I have found some mighty cute girl things, though.
I have good luck finding coordinating boy/girl twin outfits there (or what I can make into twin outfits!):aok:
Michele February 7th, 2005, 10:16 PM I love Baby Gap! So much I even worked there during Christmas this year. I think it can be pricey, but the quality is so good, that I don't really mind paying full price. I do tend to buy most things on sale though. And...not everyone knows this, but if you buy something and it goes on sale shortly after (can't remember exactly how long you have - but I can find out) all you need to do is bring the receipt in for a price adjustment.
I think Jackson needs that Valentine's shirt too!
Trish February 7th, 2005, 10:26 PM Oh, Baby Gap is my favorite!! I get lots of stuff from the consignment shop that is in great shape and I shop at the outlet near me a LOT and I do get some stuff at the mall, but I also almost never pay full price. I just got the boys a bunch of stuff for next year on clearance! :aok:
Anne - I LOVE the dress and I can't get over how grown up Katie looks!
Lette - I saw that shirt and was so close to getting it.
Cortney February 7th, 2005, 10:27 PM I like baby gap ok. It seems in the past few years the boy stuff has gotten cuter and the girl stuff has gotten less so, but I still occasionally find things I love there.
Lyndee February 7th, 2005, 11:09 PM I love Baby Gap but surprisingly enough, I only buy a couple of pieces at a time (unlike my shopping trips to Gymboree). I try to get just sale stuff from the Gap but we get a ton of Gap gifts from my brothers. I have been scoping out their boy's clothes and I like them better than Gymboree boy's clothes. So I plan to buy Brandon's stuff from Gap when he starts to get out of his onesies.
AahRee February 7th, 2005, 11:13 PM Thanks Karri and Trish! I can't believe my baby is such a little girl now. *sigh*
Jeni February 8th, 2005, 09:57 AM I think that's prbly why I love them, because I have 2 boys  I think the quality is GREAT! Karri, don't you mean a lot of it has been thru 3 boys
TtownAnne February 8th, 2005, 10:08 AM I never shop at Baby Gap anymore, just because the closest one is a good 45 minutes away. :dunno: However, we are very close to the outlet in Gettysburg, so I always do check everything out there. :aok:
Jillian February 8th, 2005, 12:23 PM I'm not a big fan of baby gap, we've had a few things.
Colleen February 8th, 2005, 02:58 PM I like Baby Gap...love their layette stuff and infant stuff. :aok: I don't have too much from there, only because I prefer leggings for Avery. She has such a skinny waist that jeans and pants fall off her.
Some of their stuff is so beautiful, especially their embroidered pieces.
kim February 8th, 2005, 03:21 PM there is a gap outlet near me. i've picked up a few things here and there. i got tony's xmas sweater there for about $15, and now that i think about it i bought a jumper for G that she hasn't worn yet...gotta break that out.
Lette February 8th, 2005, 03:43 PM Here's something for girls that I really liked. This dress is really made well and even has a lining.
I scored it on sale and used it for Lexie's birthday and a few other parties.
(oh and the blue shirt underneath is Gymboree  )
Her BDay... (close up) It's got kind of a snowflake pattern.

Bonnie February 8th, 2005, 04:09 PM I like Baby Gap a lot... I used to LOVE it, but seems like they haven't had any really cute stuff in a while since I have not gone crazy there in a long time... I think the quality is good since all my Baby Gap stuff went from Caroline to my niece Lily, back to Courtney, some of it to my friend for her baby and then all of it to my niece Julia and I will either get it back for baby #3 if it is a girl or pass it on to my SIL if one (or both) of her twins is a girl... I will buy full price if it is too cute too pass up and since it gets that much use, I have no problem with full price!
EricaMG February 9th, 2005, 07:58 PM I love the Gap...for my boys, it's my favorite place. I always buy stuff on sale and I think the quality is just great. Even the used Gap clothes I find at consignment stores wears through both boys quite well.
Anne- Is that REALLY your Katie? I truly can't believe this. She looks sooo different and grown up! And so beautiful! Look at that hair!
~Deborah~ February 10th, 2005, 01:08 PM What's your opinion on Gap clothes?
Price? Great..I don't mind paying a little extra for Joshua's stuff as Kyle will get some wear out of it too. Of course I mostly shop the sales:blush:
Quality? Great..Only had one problem with a pair of overalls that came apart at the pockets...must take those back:nod:.
Selection? Great for boys:aok:. I would say that the store is equally divided for boys and girls.
I am sad that as a Canadian I can't order off the website..even if I sent it to a US address :disbelief:. Also we don't get some of the items that I see on the website..ie the Valentines shirt :(
Alyssa February 10th, 2005, 01:36 PM Given that I avoid malls as much as I can, I very rarely shop there. If we go to outlets, I will always try there though. I do find they have a lot of the stuff cute, however - although more for girls than boys. We did just try jeans from there for the first time and I was pleased with the adjustable waist option.
Colleen February 22nd, 2005, 11:55 AM Oh my gosh. I love this dress, love it! This is going to be the girl's easter dress. Plus, I think they'll wear it for their first professional pictures....I just hope it's as cute in person. I already have a white sweater for Avery, and I'll just need to get one for Sabrina.

harmonielyn February 22nd, 2005, 12:19 PM Madison was given a few things from Baby Gap but I didnt care for them much, especially for the price. I do however, LOVE the two piece PJs! We dont have Gap here so when I went to the outlet mall last weekend I picked up a few pair.
Bonnie March 3rd, 2005, 03:45 PM I popped in the other day for 10% off Tuesday and I had a $20 gift card, so I got a very cute outfit for Caroline... I did notice how adorable their bigger girl stuff is... I LOVE the kid girl stuff... I am not loving their baby/toddler as much as I used to, but they still get in some cute stuff... I really like their boy stuff though, so if baby 3 is a boy, I'll probably do some damage. Here's what I got:
http://www.gap.com/assets/product/vi/baby/bg277981-01v.jpg (http://www.gap.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=610403&wpid=2779811)http://www.gap.com/assets/product/vi/baby/bg277990-01v.jpg (http://www.gap.com/asp/Product.asp?wdid=610403&wpid=2779901)
I love the green... they had some cute t-shirts with it, but Caroline doesn't like their shirts with embroidery... she says it "hurts"... I don't think they have enough of a barrier sewn between the embroidery and fabric.
Trish March 3rd, 2005, 03:48 PM Oh, Bonnie, that is so cute!!!
Jenn November 2nd, 2005, 11:33 PM Bumping this up.
I haven't been in a Gymbo mood lately so Gap has been getting my money and I just LOVE their stuff. I've gotten the cutest outfits for the girls at the regular BabyGap and the Gap Outlet. I'm at the beach right now but I'll have to do a Gap fashion show when we get back and show the cute oufits. I actually got the Gap Apple boots for $9.99 today and scored the apple velour jacket for like $5 along with the t-shirt for $3. They have great sales!!
Alyson November 3rd, 2005, 02:23 AM We LOVE Gap! We get soo many of Brookelyn's clothes there. I especially love their winter stuff (fleece!!), it always seems to keep her so warm! And you really can't beat the quality especially at their prices!!!
redhairedgirl November 3rd, 2005, 08:18 AM I have bought Aiden some Baby Gap things - I LOVE their polo shirts with the little bear on them. They have washed wonderfully and I know the white one he has gets worn, soaked in oxyclean, bleach pen, you name it - and it still looks brand new.
Jeni November 3rd, 2005, 08:47 AM I love gap as well, very classic stuff, I need to go in there
Girlo November 3rd, 2005, 08:54 AM I LOVE Gap clothes for kids!! :aok: I have been stocking up on baby clothes from there for many years (about 10 actually  ) in anticipation of having kids later. I only shop the sale racks and I've got some really cute things that are very unique. I have some adorable dresses that I'm dying to put on a baby girlo someday.... :awink:
As for the quality, I've noticed a difference in how the Gap stuff holds up vs. clothes from Target. I can spill stuff on the Gap stuff, treat it, and it almost always comes out perfect. The cheaper stuff....not so much. It makes it well worth the $$ just for that. :aok:
~Deborah~ November 8th, 2005, 01:59 PM I just bought some turtlenecks for Joshua and Kyle and they are not as thick as last years turtlenecks.:dunno:. Maybe they will get thicker ones for the winter:pray:
kim November 8th, 2005, 02:12 PM if you know someone who works there it's time to shamelessly beg for a Friends & Family card  if they don't have them yet they will have them soon. in case you don't know they are for 30% off anything in store, including the outlet stores. i cleaned up last time!
i have my begging emails already sent to friends who know somebody who know somebody etc
so if you know somebody....grab me one
Trish November 8th, 2005, 02:56 PM Oh, I've gotten these before  LOVE THEM!!!
Girlo November 8th, 2005, 03:05 PM Oooo.....I want one of those cards too!! Considering most of Alex's clothes are Gap, it would really help!!
One thing I've noticed as a comparison is with socks. I've bought both Gap and Old Navy socks and there's a HUGE difference in quality. The Gap socks are much thicker and look nice longer. The ON socks are really thin in comparison and get stinkier much quicker.
Jenn November 8th, 2005, 03:20 PM Yeah, I'd love to get one but last time I was in Gap on Saturday I returned a bunch of stuff so I didn't even bother begging one of the sales girls. I wish I knew someone that worked there.
Karri November 8th, 2005, 05:17 PM Oh Man!
AmyLynn November 8th, 2005, 06:15 PM One of my cousin's got for Alexis' birthday a sweater from the outlet for next winter......its sooooo cute! Other than that, we don't have much, but I think I am gonna have to shop there more!
Bridget November 10th, 2005, 11:28 AM Man, I buy a crapload of stuff there for Caleb and I've never rated one of these? That pisses me off. What, $150-$200 just in PAJAMAS doesn't put me somewhere in the "club"? Argh.
if you know someone who works there it's time to shamelessly beg for a Friends & Family card  if they don't have them yet they will have them soon. in case you don't know they are for 30% off anything in store, including the outlet stores. i cleaned up last time!

Kara November 11th, 2005, 03:37 PM Dh's cousin used to work there and I so miss getting these cards! I even have a Gap Card and don't get one but I think they are just for employees and whoever they give them too??
I LOVE Gap..I have boys..and I think Gymbo caters to girls more so than boys. I still shop there but I get the majority of their clothes at Gap.
Lette November 11th, 2005, 03:57 PM I tend to buy more Gap for my boy too! I could only WISH to get my hands on one of those cards. :)
Kara November 11th, 2005, 04:09 PM Maybe we could find a code to use online???
Karri November 28th, 2005, 04:02 PM I got a card I got a card I got a card! :woo: its burnin' a hole in my pocket!
Tori Lynne November 28th, 2005, 04:22 PM I got a card I got a card I got a card! :woo: its burnin' a hole in my pocket!
Luck dog!!! How did you get it!?!?!?!
Lynn November 28th, 2005, 04:27 PM Oooh, lucky lucky! Spill it! How'd you get it?
I LOVE Gap stuff. Aaron has a ton of it and it's all such excellent quality. I've never had an issue with anything from there
Bridget November 28th, 2005, 04:36 PM Oooh, lucky lucky! Spill it! How'd you get it?
Inquiring minds want to know! :jester:
kim November 28th, 2005, 06:06 PM I got a card I got a card I got a card! :woo: its burnin' a hole in my pocket!
you beatch!!!! i am forcing my coworker (who works part time at lord & taylor) to march over to the gap and scam one for me
:crossfing she scores one. they are good at the outlet and i totally scored last time.
Colleen November 28th, 2005, 08:15 PM I have a card.....our teenage babysitter works there. :) Jeff and her Dad work together, so Jeff brought home the card last week.
Kim, Bridget, you want me to ask Jeff to see if he can get a few more?
Otherwise, there's an online code I can pm ya.
gulp! November 28th, 2005, 08:37 PM Colleen, I'd be eternally grateful for either the online code or the card! Whichever is easier for you.
Michele November 28th, 2005, 08:45 PM I work at Baby Gap..and we each got 20 cards to give out to friends and family...I already gave out my allotted 20 cards, but I'll see if I can get a few extras if anyone is interested.
Also, you could try going in and saying you forgot your card at home...we usually give out the discount anyway if someone says that...(although I am probably not supposed to share that info.).
I'll see what I can do and check back in tomorrow.
Julie November 28th, 2005, 11:52 PM I would love any extra as well!!
Alyson November 29th, 2005, 12:09 AM I'd LOVE an extra one too. We shop there so much! :)
Mellissa November 29th, 2005, 03:32 PM I, too, like Gap better for my son than my daughter. I will buy stuff on sale for Kenzie though. Boy clothes at gap are SO cute...
Here's Keagan-

Can you PM me the online code?
Also, what day is the sale?
Jenn November 30th, 2005, 09:29 PM :banana::banana::banana:
I got a card today and I'm hitting the outlets on Friday! I can't wait! I think I may actually buy some stuff for me too!
Michele December 1st, 2005, 12:04 AM Sorry for the late notice...but I got 7 extra cards today. I'll mail them tomorrow to the first 7 people that PM me their address (I am pretty sure if I mail them tomorrow morning you should get them by Saturday and the sale ends Sunday). Each card has a different online code, so I can PM the online code before mailing and you can at least start on-line before you get your actual card.
Masik March 22nd, 2006, 06:37 PM I hopped in this thread soooo late, but I must say I LOVE babyGap and bought TONS of layette and baby boy stuff for my 7-weeks-old son and for my 1-year-old nephew.
If it is not too late to ask somebody who can put their hands on one extra card (or the code) to pass it to me? :shuffle:
Mellissa July 25th, 2006, 04:14 PM Just thought I would share...I just made these bows (my first bow making attempt) to match Baby Gap's new fall line.

Alyson July 25th, 2006, 04:24 PM Those are cute Mellissa!! I think my mom bought Brookelyn that set over the weekend! I haven't seen it yet, but she told me about the argyle:)
Julie August 3rd, 2006, 02:31 PM Just reviving this for those who are making back to school purchases or those that used the F&F card :)
I was lucky enough to score a code to use and got this for Cameron. I wish this came in larger sizes for the older boys :)

I can't wait for them to come - I ordered online :)
Jeni August 3rd, 2006, 02:53 PM Julie, those are SO cute:)
Julie August 3rd, 2006, 03:06 PM Thanks Jeni - I can't wait for it to cool down and for Cameron to start walking. I think it is going to be adorable :)
Jeni August 3rd, 2006, 03:07 PM Do you still have the code? Or was it a one time use thing?
Julie August 3rd, 2006, 03:19 PM It was a one time use thing, sorry :(
Bridget August 3rd, 2006, 03:47 PM Have you seen that other pair of jeans there with the little circular/oblong patches on them? I keep meaning to pick them up for Caleb but haven't gotten a chance yet. These:
http://www.gap.com/Asset_Archive/GPWeb/content/0000/609/960/assets/hp_1.jpg
I also love that striped dress and tights but I don't think it comes small enough for Ahna. :bawl:
Bridget August 3rd, 2006, 03:49 PM Nope I'm wrong, it does come in her size! :woo:
http://www.gap.com/Asset_Archive/GPWeb/Assets/Product/368/368076/main/gp368076-00p01v01.jpg
But now I can't find the tights. Well, poop. Anyway, it's a SS dress, so it would be bad for winter anyway.
Karri August 3rd, 2006, 03:51 PM Julie - me too. I would love to get those for Elliott. I am just itchin' to use my F&F card tomorrow!!!!!!!!!
Bridget August 3rd, 2006, 03:53 PM Post pics of Cameron and Elliott please (if you all get it too Karri)! I think that rock stuff is very cute.
Trish August 3rd, 2006, 04:11 PM Those are so cute, Julie! I can't wait to use my F&F card tomorrow
BonnieG August 3rd, 2006, 04:14 PM I am so bummed...I never got a F&F card! Please let me shop vicariously through you guys!!
Karri August 3rd, 2006, 04:26 PM Bonnie - sorry i couldnt get ya one :(
BonnieG August 3rd, 2006, 04:45 PM Bonnie - sorry i couldnt get ya one :(
That's okay Karri, my comment was directed towards you (hope you didn't think so), it was just I'm generally bummed about not getting one.
Mary DK August 3rd, 2006, 07:02 PM Julie, those are so cute!! Like you said, too bad they don't have them in bigger sizes
Tessrcat August 16th, 2006, 02:31 PM It's sale time at the Gap -- yeah! Scored the blue polkadot dress, matching pants, and the bright blue shirt for underneath for under 60 bucks. I just happened on them marking stuff down the day before, so the clerk let me have it for the discounted price.
Anybody up on Gaps sale schedule? It seems I'm always missing out, and find out the things I've been watching and drooling over are already gone by the time I discover the sale is on...
Tessrcat August 23rd, 2006, 02:40 PM Wow! Was in Gap the other day and couldn't believe the price of some of their jeans!!! When did Gap go expensive upscale? Here in Canada they wanted $55.00 for some of their new jeans.
Kara August 23rd, 2006, 02:42 PM Wow! Was in Gap the other day and couldn't believe the price of some of their jeans!!! When did Gap go expensive upscale? Here in Canada they wanted $55.00 for some of their new jeans.
Really?? I Didn't think ours went up much here..they are usually around $29.50 or $34.50 I think..Online and in stores here they are running Buy one pair of jeans, get the second half off though until Sept. 7th I think.

Yeah, I just bought Dugan a pair of their patchwork jeans and they were $34.50 (I think that was the highest price they had listed for jeans for toddler boys) and then got a original fit pair for 1/2 off.
TtownAnne January 4th, 2007, 07:53 PM http://www.gap.com/Asset_Archive/GPWeb/Assets/Product/387/387903/main/gp387903-02p01v01.jpg (javascript:objPO.openProductImages())
I can't find half the things I just bought Caroline at the Gap the other day - BIL and SIL bought us some stuff for Christmas that didn't fit and there was nothing else we wanted, so I spent it on Caroline. I got this skirt, a burgundy top with matching crystals on it, a burgundy velour warm-up jacket, a gray and pink shirt, and a deep green corduroy dress. Not bad for $57, I think.
Kara January 4th, 2007, 08:44 PM Love the skirt Anne!!
Alyson January 4th, 2007, 10:26 PM cute skirt!!!
