I have three sets of sheets that I really like --Ralph Lauren, Wamsutta, and Pottery Barn. All 3 I got on clearance (sheets are god awful expensive! damn!) b/c I like the high thread count ones. I got the RL and Wamsutta ones at Linens & Things, I think. They generally have good prices. I have found that I like white because you can bleach them and they always seem so nice & crisp!
I am a fan of the down comforter. I invested in one from The Company Store (check their website) and its lasted me for 12 years now and its still in great condition :aok: I keep a duvet over it, though. I like Pottery Barn's duvet covers (i've been through a few and I like theirs the best). If you can find one you like on clearance, they are a steal!
Pillows....no advice there.....that is your personal preference

I just got a down comforter and pillows when JCP had a big sale, but they usually have a good selection.
I have also gotten some good name brand things at TJ Maxx.

Kohls usually has a huge selection of pillows, and they are reasonable when they are on sale (which is just about all the time).

I love my Ralph Lauren comforter and I only paid $40.00 for a king size. Now that I have that I do not want any other comforter but I may try a down one in the future.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up going to Target as I don't have a Linens n Things here and got something from the Simply Shabby Chic line.

We also do the high-thread count sheets and a down duvet with a cover. :) We don't use a top sheet and just use the duvet cover as the only covering.
As for styles or stores....we have a very tall mattress and I have to get fitted sheets that will fit at least 18", and they're a little hard to find. So....I tend to buy whatever will fit our bed and whatever is on sale....which means that I don't buy bedding very often.
The other thing that makes it difficult is Paul! He's pretty conservative in his decorating style and won't go for any wild colors or patterns - muted earth tones only! In fact, he's just recently started accepting ANY color in our bed!! When we met, he was a whites-only man. The unfortunate part of this is that most of the sale stuff has bright colors and/or patterns! Which is why I don't buy bedding very often....
