I don't know if this is a good place to post this thread, but I couldn't figure out where it would be better placed (and actually read  ).

Has anyone heard of a company called Market America? Good, bad, ugly--whatever. I have a job interview with them, and I wanted to get an idea as to what they're all about. As I posted in the Fashion & Beauty forum, they sell, among other things, Motives makeup. I've never heard of it, and I'm a makeup whore.

Thanks in advance!

I (or DH) used to have a friend who got into Market America. He was a good friend... even was in our wedding. Once he got into MA, though, that was pretty much the end. Its sort of like Amway. Since we werent' all into it and buying things from him, he no longer had any use for us.

The last time we saw him, he gave us a new baby gift for Maggie... a Market America DNA testing kit. Now if that doesn't say Congratulations, I don't know what does.

:spit: are you kidding, Sheila?!

If it's like Amway, I'd run away. I had a friend that was doing that and it was like some sort of weird cult

 That's hysterical! What a crazy person.

The Amway thing is my concern. I would be working in their general counsel's office, so I wouldn't have to sell anything (thank GOD!), but I still am not sure about the idea. I was hoping it was more like Avon--not the Amway/cultish thing.

I wonder if they'd try to suck you into the cult if you worked there

I wonder how many lawsuits they get from family members suing them for losing their loved ones to the cult

:lol2: That's what my husband is wondering, too. He had organize an "intervention" for one of his college friends to get away from Quixtar (which I think is what Amway is called nowadays).

 Hopefully that wouldn't be the kind of legal issues I would be handling!
