If you were to have another child (yes, even those of you that say you are done) would you prefer to have a boy or a girl? And why do you have that preference?

Tough question for me.

I always wanted to have a little girl. And when I walk by the toy section or the clothing racks, I so want a girl! Also when I think of the far distant future...I want a daughter to go shopping with and do mom/daughter things...like how I am with my mom.

That said, I love my boys so much and feel it would be a lot easier to have another boy. I think it would work better for our family too.

Oh yeah...if I have a girl I've got naming rights! A boy...well, most of you know that story.

DH wants a boy so he can have one of each, but I'd really like another little girl. Either way, our next one will be our last!

I would love to have another girl. I love being the mommy to a girl...we have so much fun together....plus it is fun for us to drive her daddy up the wall. I dont know if I would know how to parent a boy....I know everybody says that, but I just dont know.

Well when I found out I was pregnant with #3, I was secretly hoping for another girl. :) I love my girls and feel like I"m just a "girl Mom". DH of course wanted a boy. Now that we know it's a boy, we're done. BUT, if we were to have another.. likely I'd try for a boy so this baby would have a brother to play with.

We're done, but if we were trying again I'd like a girl for the same reasons that Alyssa listed.

I'm torn. I have always wanted a girl, but now that I have Jackson I can't imagine parenting a girl. Also, I would like for him to have a little brother. I want 2 more kids, so hopefully at least one of them will be a girl.

I'm really torn on this. I've always thought I'd have a boy and then a girl. So far, if the u/s is right, that's what I'm getting. I love looking at little girl things, but I have no idea how to parent a girl. I guess we just learn these things as we go along :)

Paul would prefer another boy.

I think it's interesting when people say that they don't know how to parent a child of the opposite sex. I personally was completely unable to parent until Aiden was born, then I just went by my instincts. ;) If he was a girl, I'm sure I would have adjusted appropriately.

That being said, as much as I love my little boy.... I have always wanted a little girl. But, due to medical issues, Aiden will be an only. It was very hard to accept at first, but the best thing for all of us. Besides, Aiden has some really cute clothes. He may not have the quantity that some girls have - but he is one dapper fellow. ;)

I meant after having a boy. I know you're not supposed to treat them any different, but I'm sure we play rougher with Matthew than we would with a girl. Plus there's the tights, shoes, barrettes, hair bows  Boys are easy.. pants and a shirt

When I got pg with this one I wanted another boy, I figured it'd be easier to parent 2 of the same gender. Dh had no preference. We're having a girl this time.

I don't care either way, I'd love another girl, but I'd be fine with a boy too, because I'm sure DH would like a son. :)

If Raelyn really is a girl then I'll want a boy next (we plan on at least 3-4 kids) We're the last chance to carry on the family name and it's really important to Josh.

I already have 2 boys, and I feel like I SHOULD want a girl to balance things out. But I secretly don't. I just LOVE raising boys! Parenting boys is what I know and feel comfortable with, ya know?? In addition, I'm already afraid of the youngest kid feeling like a third wheel, since my boys are so close in age, and if the third kid is a girl, I'm afraid she would feel even more left out. I don't really feel that yearning to dress a girl when I see girls clothes...rather all the pink and fancy stuff sort of freaks me out. And the dating part? I have no idea how I'd handle that!

Don't get me wrong, though...I will be COMPLETELY ecstatic with whatever I get :)

I'm not sure!

Most people assume that we will try for a third because I want a girl but really that is not the case. Part of me would love to have a little girl to dress up and eventually do all the girlie stuff with but all I know is boys now! I love how Christopher and Patrick are together and I'm kind of afraid how they would react to having a little sister. Besides it would be kind of cool to have "my three sons".

If we have another, Chris's urologist will be supplementing our family income
Anyway...I guess I'd say girl. It would be nice for Norah to have a sister. but then again, with her personality, I cant imagine her liking a sister much.....she is the princess and boss of the house and lets everyone know

I've always wanted one of each, but now it really doesn't matter. Part of me wants a boy to have one of each. John is the last in his family line so the name thing is important to his dad (John couldn't care less). I know if we have another girl, we will get pressure form FIL  I also would love to have another girl because I just LOVE having a daughter. I also wanted a sister growing up, so I think that would be nice for Gabrielle. If he had to pick, John would want another girl because he loves having a daddy's girl! :hb:

Well since we want to have 4, I guess I don't have a prefrence on what I want the next one to be. I love having a girl and being the mommy to a little girl, I absolutely love it! But with four I would like a mix. I would like to experience both. DH says he would be happy with alll girls.. I tell him he might be rethinking that in the teenage years.

Gee - I wonder what my answer will be?? I'm dying to have a little girl!! I love my boys and I won't be devastated if this little bean is a boy but I would really like the chance to have a mother-daughter relationship and be the mother of the bride *just once*. Besides, we're almost out of boys names and I have a list that's 3 pages long for a girl.

When I first got pg I was convinced it was a girl and I was wrong and I think I really wanted a girl, because I was such a girly-girl growing up and I thought I'd be a better mom to a girl. Well, now I have 2 boys and I can't imagine it any other way. We are having at least one more and I kind of want #3 to be a boy. Part of me wants the girl, so I can dress her up and someday do all that great mother-daughter stuff, but I just love my boys so much and like Nocona said, I'm not sure I'd know what to do with a girl? It sound crazy, but it's true. I'm sure I'd be fine one she came along though. :awink:

That's why it's so funny for me to think that I can't imagine a girl now!!

I'm afraid to have a son because I don't want to turn into one of "those" mothers-in-law when he gets older (i.e., no girl is good enough for him). After dealing with one of those MILs (two, actually, since DH's grandmother helped raise him), I don't want to be one!

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to be one of "those" MIL one day. (http://www.onceuponalife.com/forums/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=52#) But, I really like my MIL, so I'm hoping I'll somehow follow in her footsteps.

I felt the same way before I had kids! I only wanted girls, but now that I have a boy, I wouldn't trade him for anything!

If we were to have another, I think I would want another girl. I grew up with a sister and it's like having a built-in best friend. I would love that for Ellie.

When we have #2, we really want a girl. :) We were hoping that Alex would have been a girl...and were VERY glad we found out early that he was a boy so we had 4 months to get used to the idea of a boy in the house. I was a little freaked out before he arrived on how to deal with a boy - diapers, toys, temperment, etc. Now that he's here....and 13 months old....I can't imagine life without him. He's SO much fun and so loving and cuddly and adorable and I feel bad that we were disappointed at first that he wasn't a girl.

That said, we would really like for the second child to be a girl so we'll have one of each. :) However....we'll also be happy with a boy because we already know how much fun boys are! In fact, we decided a long time ago that if our 2 kids were boys, we would adopt a little girl just so we could have a girl in the house. After having Alex.....we've decided it just isn't that important! :) We're even thinking of having the sex of #2 be a surprise..... I have to say we've come a long way in our thinking since our little boy joined our family.

I have A LOT of little girl clothes, though, that I'll need to sell if #2 is a boy. I've been accumulating them over the years....

Sometimes I secretly want another boy although everyone else, my Mom especially wants it to be a girl. I am not too girly and I am also afraid of teenage girls! :) On the other hand, sometimes I want one because I always had lots of fun with my Mom and I would like the same type of relationship with a daughter. I'm not too fussy either way. :)

As the mom of a now tween girl, I prayed that Alex would be a boy. I got my wish. If I was to have another one, it wouldn't matter what the sex was because I would be in the looney bin!
