I can't believe there's not a Jersey thread already!

I'm in Mount Laurel, Burlington County - although we're currently looking for a home in Gloucester County.

I bet I'm the only one in south Jersey... I always say we should just split south Jersey off and call it East Philadelphia and get it over with! It's funny how different north and south Jersey are from each other. I wonder if it's like that in other states?

Jill ~I never even WENT to south jersey or the shore (believe it or not) until I was in high school!!! Yeah it is weird...South Jersey does just seem like an extension of PA or Delaware. I think Lisa211 is from somewhere down by you :) You aren't alone,

Well, I've never been to north Jersey so we're even! Although, I grew up in Maryland and have only lived in NJ for 6 years so that's probably not a great comparison! :)

Actually, I lied, I went to a wedding in Edison a couple years ago. That's north, right? (And, I've taken the NJ Transit train up to NYC, so I've been through north Jersey, but that definitely doesn't count!)

Ok you've been through Northern Jersey. ANd I wouldn't consider Edison a fair representation of Northern jersey. LOL. Kinda like Camden or AC isn't a good representation of southern jersey. It's pretty nice up here...mountains and lakes and stuff. I grew up in the boonies of northern jersey though on the NY State border. Bears and deer were always traipsing through my backyard! Now I am suburbia, but I must admit that I do like the convenience of everything. ANd my town is just really cute!

:wavey: I'm in Union County. If you guys ever heard of Woodbridge Mall (it's a pretty popular mall up here), I'm about 10 min. north of that mall. :) I just moved up north about 5 yrs. ago. BIG adjustment, as before this I lived in Bayville (Ocean County). Most of my life though I lived in Monmouth County (Matawan).

I love the conveniences here of everything being close by and not closing early. :) However, I love south jersey because for one the prices of the homes are ALOT cheaper than here up north, that's for sure. When I lived in Bayville we were right on the water....I loved it!

We will be moving this year. Not sure exactly where, but I do know the furthest south we'll go is Sayreville (Middlesex county) and the northest we'll go is Parsippany (Morris county I think ??). So, we'll see........... :)

I grew up in Montville, in Northern New Jersey. Then after graduation, my family and I moved to West Windsor, in Central New Jersey. I now live with my DH and DD in Ewing, which is right near Rider University and The College of New Jersey (Trenton State).

Montville had a lot of hills, whereas West Windsor was flat farmland. I felt like I was in Kansas when we first moved down. It was a big adjustment, but I like both areas. I really like Ewing for now. We will probably move not too far out of the area in a few years, once the kids need to go to school.

I hate how New Jersey gets so beat up on! We have everything in this state. The Meadowlands, Atlantic City, the Shore, some of the best malls, hills, mountains, lakes, farmland. And we are so close to two great cities, New York and Philadelphia! It doesn't get much better than that! :)

Andrea - we're looking at Williamstown and Washington Twp. Right now we're 99% sure that we're going to be building in Williamstown. It's amazing how much more reasonable housing prices are down there vs. Burlington County!

Oh yeah!! Williamstown seems more reasonable that Washington Twp. I worked in WT for 4 years teaching preschool (Fries Mill Road).

Hope you don't mind, I've been lurking in your house journal and drooling over those houses. Only in my dreams right now

Ok Andrea & Jill....I'm so jealous. How I would LOVE to live way down south where you guys live. The housing I'm sure is a HUGE difference money-wise than compared to up here! :blue:

Oh my gosh, Dawn, it's a huge difference. HUGE!

Andrea - My DH actually grew up in WT and my IL's still live there so that would have been ideal. But there isn't much being built there right now, and what is being built is well out of our price range - gigantic mansions! :) When I first moved to NJ I actually lived on Fries Mill Road!!

I live in NY, just a few minutes from the NJ border. Although I've lived in NY all my life, I love NJ. My brother and SIL live in Monmouth County, and my parents have a summer place on the water in Monmouth County. Before moving into our house here in NY, we looked in Monmouth County. As great as it would have been to live there, we realized we weren't ready to make such a HUGE change (giving up my job, moving away from friends, that sort of thing).

Just wanted to say hi!

Gosh, a few years ago, my coworker and I drove to the Stone Pony to see Live! and it was so coool! I had the best time! It was the only time I was in asbury park. But I've actually seen them in Quakertown and Philly (at the Tower and at the park). But this isn't about them, huh?
We usually went to LBI or Avalon or some place around there...

Thanks for the memory, Jolie!
