Front page... changes and changes to be

Well, I have the first edition of what people new to OUAL will see when they get to the home page. As always, I welcome your comments!

As things progress, I would like to add more things to the front page that will make it more useful for subscribers. The first thing I will be adding is a "Great News" Column... as soon as we get a few more items posted in the Great News forum. :lol:

What other things would be useful to you on the front page?

Welcome to Once Upon a Life. We're a friendly little place. Most of us are moms (or working on being moms), but its not a requirement.

We have lots to say about parenting. We talk about our wonderful kids and complain about them when they behave like...well, like kids. We talk about the work/family balance and about life after getting a regular paycheck. We talk about getting pregnant, not getting pregnant, preparing for delivery, labor, all the gear that goes along with babies and kids how we can (or can't) afford it.

We consider our lives and what happens in the world around us as important in our roles as parents as what is going on with our children. We have some strong opinions and we don't always agree, but that's part of the fun. Every once in a while, some feelings get stepped on, but usually we are good about arguing fairly no matter how passionately we feel.

Our history
Once Upon a Life started when another parenting community announced they were closing their virtual doors. Not wanting to lose the close friendships we had made (and not being able to consider life without our favorite addiction), we decided to start our own community. So, here we are.

Some of us have known each other for a while. As is often the case when people know each other well, there can be teasing and personal jokes. If you see something you don't understand, just ask. We like laughing, so we'll almost always tell you.

I really like it! But, my only concern is the "community of mothers" part. There are several men on here too. And I'm afraid that if you put out that it's pretty much just mothers that my keep men who are considering joining the community from joining. Could it maybe be mothers & fathers, or just a community of parents?

actually ... i don't even fit into that category (mother, father, parent) ... but i love this place ... the main reason i was drawn to OUAL at the end of the Ultimates ... was because it did not *divide* the *parents* from the *non-parents* ...

other than that ... is it possible to have the # of people chatting on this page ... like it is on the main page ...

I just couldn't come up with anything other than "mothers and others" I'll keep thinking, and if you think of something, please let me know!

other than that ... is it possible to have the # of people chatting on this page ... like it is on the main page ... I am trying to get that done. My PHP skills (or lack thereof) are standing in my way. But I like a challenge, so hopefully soon it will work.
