I'm trying to write a paper on a choir concert I attended last night. When writing about different songs, are song titles underlined or italicized? I can't for the life of me remember! Thanks!

I thought they were in quotes, but of those two choices I'd say italics. They're definitely not underlined.

I think it's italic. What concert did you see?

Hmm, quotes, hadn't thought about that! Oh, now what to do! The concert was just 5 local choirs each doing a small program. It was pretty good! My DH on the other hand....well, let's just say I had to wake him up once:rolleyes:

I am 99% sure they should be in quotes.

It really depends on the music:
Generic Titles
A generic title is a title that includes a genre such as Symphony, Sonata etc.:
Béla Bartók, String Quartet No. 2 Op. 17.
Generic titles should NOT be italicised or underlined.
Proper Titles:
A Proper Title is a title that is specific to a certain work such as Les Preludes.
Such titles should always be italicised [or underlined]
For music on an album:
Songwriter, W. W. (Date of copyright). Title of song [Recorded by artist if different from song writer]. On Title of album [Medium of recording]. Location: Label. (Recording date if different from copyright date)
Title of album is in ITALICS
You are only placing quotation marks when you quote. Title is a citation.
Hope that helps!

Kelly there are two really good style manuals that explain pretty much any writing rule. The Chicago Manual of Style and the MLA Writing guide.
