View Full Version : Sleep AND Daycare issues....pullling my hair out!

I'm going crazy and I'm so tired. I just don't know what to do anymore.

We've cut out Rebekah's naps at my mom's house in hopes of getting her to bed earlier. Sometimes she goes to be early, other days she fights sleep and doesn't go to sleep until 11pm. She did that one night this week.

Daycare makes them take a 3-hr rest. She doesn't sleep that whole time, maybe just an hour or so. On Tuesday she didn't sleep at all.

So now I'm having horrible issues getting her into bed AND getting her up in the morning. It takes me 45 minutes or more to just wake her up. She's turning into Darren. :( I actually had to undress her and put her on the potty while she was still sleeping this morning, just to wake her up. And then because she didn't wake up on her own, she cries the whole time I'm trying to get her dressed. She was asleep by 9:30pm last night and I didn't get her to wake up until after 8:15am this morning. The TV was on - Wiggles - and the alarm was going off and she slept through all of it. (She was in my bed since she woke up after Darren went to work and asked to come to my bed)

I cannot spend the rest of my life with two Darrens who won't wake up in the mornings. That's what she's turning into.

And, to make matters worse, she doesn't want to go to daycare anymore. This week, she's started crying the night before and then cries all morning and fights me during our whole morning routine. Tuesday and today she's cried when I dropped her off. And they said she just sat on her mat and cried all through nap time on Tuesday.

We're having a series of very bad mornings now. By the time I get to work, I'm so tired and upset from the fighting and the crying. Our mornings are terrible!

I don't know what to do anymore`.

Hanna's not in a structured daycare but 3hrs for a "rest" seems long ... an hour sleep seems fine but the other two hours should be used running around & burning energy I would think. Is this a new routine for them at daycare?
:bighug: I'm sorry that you're going through this.

Brooke... I know the sleep troubles with Rebekah have been plaguing you for a long time. :hug99: I just wish I had some good advice for you.

Maybe the upcoming time change will help out in some way.

Our state mandates that all daycare centers (or maybe just the state-subsidized ones) have 3 hours of rest/quiet time every day. She can sleep or she can sit on her mat and read books or something but she cannot get up and play. This is from 12pm-3pm.

She's been in this daycare 2 days a week since March and it's been the same routine. She did switch classrooms in September but the basic routine is the same, they just focus on learning a little more. She was doing ok until this week.

One thing that may have messed us up - last Friday, I took her there so she could be in the class photo. We were there for an hour, I stayed, and then I took her to my mom's house. She knew it wasn't her regular day and that we were just there for the pictures. But it might have messed up her routine and she now will say "Don't leave me!" when we talk about school.

Oh, Brooke, that's awful. I know you've been having problems with Rebekah sleeping, and I'm so sorry it's getting worse. :hug99:

I can't offer any advice but I can certainly sympathize with sleep deprivation and issues with daycare. I hope they get better Brooke!
